I've always been fond of black raspberry and lemon sherbet.

Of course, you left "black raspberry" off the poll, despite it being one of the most popular flavors around. Instead, you put in "black walnut."

Black Walnut? Do people even eat that? Ugh.

nuttyturnip Jun 12, 2007 03:06 PM

I eat Black Walnut sometimes, because sometimes they have that instead of Butter Pecan. The owner just figures, "We'll throw in something with nuts and no one will be able to tell the difference."

Hey Muzza...what's in honeycomb? it sounds good like it would be good...is it just honey?

Sin Ansem Jun 12, 2007 07:09 PM

This entire topic fails for no mention of cookies and cream.

Nothing spices up vanilla like chunky Oreo goodness.

Temari Jun 12, 2007 10:09 PM

I love vanilla as long as there is hot fudge or the like involved. Just plain ice cream, I do find it kinda boring. So I'd have to go with chocolate or cookie dough.

Also, Ben and Jerry's Fossil Fuel. Unfortunately I havent seen it around much lately, but it. is. amazing. Vanilla and chocolate fudge swirled ice cream with chunks of (dinosaur shaped!) fudge inside. Mmm.

We have both those flavours in Frappe Snowland.

My favorite ice cream flavors according to 2 different types

Ben & Jerry's:
Americone Dream
Vanilla heath bar crunch
Karamel Sutra
Phish food
Mint Chocolate Cookie

All other brands:
Straberry
Mint
Heath
Oreo

Summonmaster Jun 13, 2007 12:36 AM

Give me exotic flavours anydays over boring old strawberry, chocolate, vanilla or whatever. I like stuff like Coffee, Cheesecake, Bubble Gum, etc. when I see it, but I will jump towards my favourites or less standard flavours like Mango, Red Bean, Taro/Ube or Green Tea at first opportunity.

Dopefish Jun 13, 2007 12:41 AM

Who in their right mind doesn't like Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream.

Yeah, I also vote other, because this poll does not have green tea.

I'm not a big ice cream fan in general, but every so often I'll have some, or get a craving.

Chocolate ice cream (especially soft-serve or chocolate frozen yogurt) is probably my favorite.

My sister works at Dairy Queen and brings things home all the time...I like peanut butter and chocolate combos (like a butterfinger blizzard made with chocolate ice cream).

i pretty much avoid vanilla ice cream most of the time, it may be one of the reasons I don't like ice cream much.

Generally, I'd much rather have a specialty latte from Starbucks if I'm going for the sugary indulgences.

Yeah, it is good...it does contain honey, but not an overwhelming amount, IMHO, despite the name. It's apparent in Crunchie bars. I can't really elaborate further, but if you see it one day make sure you give it a try.

RacinReaver Jun 13, 2007 03:09 PM

Garr, have you ever tried a water ice (or Italian ice, same thing)? I know it's not really available in California ( ;_; ), but if you ever travel to the east you should try and get some. Dragoon Kain and I talked about it a bit in Divest's thread in Angst, it's a fantastic alternative if you're lactose intolerant.

For my own opinion on ice cream, I'm pretty cool with anything that has peanutbutter or chocolate in it. For an added bonus I often like to break up hard pretzels and put them in my ice cream. Nothing beats smooth, cold ice cream with little interstitial bits of salty, crunchy pretzels. <3

There's an Italian Ice place called Joe's Italian Ice in Garden Grove (~2 miles down Harbor from Disneyland), and they might have other locations around Southern California.

Sherbet. SHERBET. THERE IS NO SECOND 'R'.

Okay, I'm done.

I love mint chip ice cream. And orange [or most other flavours available too] sherbet. There's some other ice cream flavours that I like, but can't think of them at the moment. I haven't had ice cream in a long time, which is sad.

Wikipedia disagrees.

I'm not a big fan of citing Wikipedia myself, but dictionary.com in this link also says that sherbert is perfectly acceptable.

Quote:

sherbet

noun
a frozen dessert made primarily of fruit juice and sugar, but also containing milk or egg-white or gelatin [syn: sherbert]
Anyway, to avoid derailing, I've chosen strawberry, cheesecake, and mint chocolate chip. I've always been a big fan of strawberries, and I've tried some pretty tasty strawberry cheesecake ice cream (I think they had some at Dairy Queen; I better go get some tomorrow. P= ).

The mint chocolate chip is a recent favorite of mine. My college's cafeteria had some in the ice cream section last semester, and I gave it a try. Now I take every chance I can at getting some of the mint chocolate chip before its eaten by everybody else. It's a very popular flavor around here.

Fiddlegoof Jun 13, 2007 10:58 PM

Chocolate chip cookie dough has always been my top favourite. I used to collect the cookie dough in one cheek, and see how big I could make it in one go.

Another close contender would be neopolitan (spelling?) But when I do eat it, I usually just take out the strawberry, and add a little bit of vanilla and chocolate. It tastes especially good when you mix them all together in to one liquidy flavour. :P

Jochie Jun 13, 2007 11:03 PM

My real favorite is dulce de leche. You can add an Other to my vote if you want.

No. Hard Pass. Jun 13, 2007 11:04 PM

Jochie, Dulce de leche is an ice cream flavour? I know how to make the stuff, but I had no idea they made ice cream out of it. That would be AWESOME.

Jochie Jun 13, 2007 11:06 PM

It is awesome. I think it's . . . . Yeah:

I voted "other" because my favorite is mint.

Just mint ice cream. I have yet to find a only-mint treat though; there's usually these nasty little brown bits mixed in =/

Don't get me wrong; I love chocolate, but damnit all, I just want mint-flavored ice-cream! D:

Oh, I'm also fond of ginger-flavored ice-cream, with it's sweet and slightly bitter taste <3

No no no... Swiss Orange is amazing. It's apparently not a down under thing, because we have orange chip also. Just because it's sherbet doesn't mean anything.

I love Dulce de Leche, but Breyer's Mint Chip is probably one of my favorite things in life. Also, Dreyer's/edy's used to make a commercial peanut butter ice cream with peanut butter swirl that was Heaven on Earth.

OMG yes. I love green tea and mango ice cream, and taro is also really good.
