well... well... well... Gilgamesh returning! One of my favourites... :D

Btw, thx oddigy 4 the rip. At least it kills a little of my curiousity waiting my copy of FFXII OST.

Btw, no. 015 kinda reminds me of PSOne's FFTactics and I think I heard this in one of the trailers. Still listening to the rest of the PSF... (except the prologue which I immediatedly recognise)

And it's kinda odd hearing Sakimoto's work on Final Fantasy series. Kinda misses Nobuo's work on this part.

Kaleb.G Mar 17, 2006 12:40 PM

Oh, damn, the whole rip has been up since yesterday. If Bobbin hadn't mentioned anything, I wouldn't have checked. Anyway, once again, I thank you for your work, Oddigy! :)

Andrew Evenstar Mar 17, 2006 01:36 PM

damn thanks for this, i like the gilgamesh!

katchum Mar 17, 2006 02:20 PM

With this OST, no memorable themes, highly orchestrated songs, do you think there will be a FFXII piano collection? (Knowing that Sakimoto didn't make any piano collection)

There's enough memorable themes:

070
100
029
088
032
030
059
045
020
036
079
091
037
064

And many more..
All of the music that sounds like it would be played in cities/dungeons/fields/etc has a very good melody.
The more dramatic cutscene music isnt as memorable because it relies more on atmosphere and harmony than melody, which makes it very moving and hard hitting, especially when heard in context with the accompanying scenes.
Also, what does being "highly orchestrated" have to do with anything?
No FF has ever had high orchestration, and they had a piano album, did they not?

JazzFlight Mar 17, 2006 02:53 PM

Has anyone found the Road of Hope song in the PSF2s from the Symphonic Poem orchestrated CD?

I'm hoping that it was originally a song in the game that got orchestrated on that CD.

katchum Mar 17, 2006 03:11 PM

Yeah, you're right, Arc the Lad was also highly orchestrated and they made an impressive piano album of it. But I bet this one isn't going to get a piano arrangement.

It's based on the main theme, which comes up in a lot of the tracks.
It plays the biggest part in the opening theme, but that one's not amongst the psf2s... (probably because it's used in an FMV... the 7+ minute long intro)
I think someone posted a link to 5 MP3s, of which the opening theme was one in the FFXII thread on the RPG board, so check that out.

jb1234 Mar 17, 2006 04:55 PM

I wonder which psf is the final boss theme (or if it's even in the set...).

030 is gorgeous.

And yeah, as pointed out, the opening FMV track is missing from the psfs. Who knows what other cutscene pieces are missing...

Lipid Mar 17, 2006 05:06 PM

Holy hell... A little fan service never hurt anyone, at least :D

Um, I know what the main theme song is, and Road of Hope sounds nothing like it. It's definately NOT the same song.

Nemes Mar 18, 2006 11:05 AM

Definitly not full orchestra, but I don't think it's fully synthesiszed, either. Let's hope there are still fully orchestrated songs in FFXII! Though, this Gilgamesh song is pretty kick ass, hehe.

Awesome find oddigy.

FPI Mar 18, 2006 03:07 PM

I'm actually listening to the whole set, and so far it's quite good, could have been much more worse. ;) I'm still missing Uematsu somewhat, but Sakimoto is doing a good job here, overall. I'm also very happy, that the "Prologue"-theme is finally returning to the FF-series!

Andy The Drew Mar 18, 2006 06:29 PM

Symphonic Poem hope shows up as the End credits song, but since the PSF2s lacked the streamed audio, we don't get to hear it in this collection.

Josh_1 Mar 19, 2006 01:19 AM

It is a shame that I can;t listen to the music.... too bad there isn't an mp3 version out :(.

Too bad you can't read the thread.

Josh_1 Mar 20, 2006 08:59 PM

Sorry about that.... I feel very stupid.

NYRSkate Apr 1, 2006 09:31 PM

I've taken the liberty of converting the final battle theme to mp3, since in the set it's only three minutes long, and I needed a full version for my CD player. Considering this is the best you can do until the last day in May, I'd advise you pick it up ASAP:

Nine minutes and thirty-six seconds of awesome.

Elorin Apr 2, 2006 04:31 AM

Wow, that's one very grandiose final battle theme. Thanks, Skate! The song takes a while to kick in but I'm beginning to think that it's supposed to fit in with a multi-tiered final battle sequence like what was done for Parasite Eve (and, I believe, Kingdom Hearts II). Either that or the first three minutes or so are part of some cut-scene prior to the final showdown. The part that sets in around 4:15 is terrific. I like how it's very triumphant and grand, and very much in line with the more medievil theme of FF12. While it's certainly signature Sakimoto, I couldn't help but think how the melody is also reminiscent of Christopher Franke.

Let's just hope we don't fight underwhelming floating eggs with tentacles this time. :( That would be extremely anticlimatic.

KyleDunamis Apr 4, 2006 12:11 PM

I downloaded the last boss videos. The last boss music starts at 3:11, everything before that is a FMV music.

blisteredhands Apr 9, 2006 02:25 PM

Did anyone happen to grab that YSI link of the boss battle that could send it my way? I have the psf2 set, but I'd like to hear that song. Thanks in advance.

Also, what I've heard of the psf2 set is pretty good. I typically like Sakimoto's work, but this seems above and beyond his usual. I went ahead and pre-ordered the LE soundtrack, but I'm impatient, so it's hard to wait until the end of May.

DarkRavenX Apr 9, 2006 05:55 PM

096 is the final boss theme in that set, but you HAVE to change the time to at least 9:38 (or set HE to loop indefinatly) to hear it all. In winamp just right click the song and click view file info, then on the right side, change the song length to 9:36, and you have the PSF version of what skate put up.

blisteredhands Apr 9, 2006 06:30 PM

Ah, ok, cool, thanks very much for the tip!

dragonhalls Apr 16, 2006 07:46 AM

there is a clip of battle with gilgamesh at youtube...

Wow, great ending theme that symphonic poem! But it isn't from Sakimoto's hand...
