In DR the top tiers look more like this

Devil Jin
Heihachi
Kazuya
Marduk

Slayer X Feb 21, 2007 11:16 PM

WoW, how does it change so drastically with only a small upgrade? I know they changed a lot, but to shift the tiers. This could make for an interesting study for me when it comes out on the PS Network.

BIGWORM Feb 22, 2007 01:15 AM

IMO, I think the tiers will be played out with people actually playing face to face. The main factor that'll throw the tiers off whack if they figured out through online play is latency. Not everyone has the best ping. From my experience on Tekken Zaibatsu, the character placement mainly comes from 3 top-player locales: Norcal (SVGL), S. Korea, and Japan that have the major influence on what the tier placement is. Obviously that's not saying that those 3 places are the only place of influence, but a majority of it. The people who play the characters and the moves that are abusable also determines the tiers.

Top 3:
EWGF mainly
Hell Sweeps
WD/SDing for good rushdown

DJ:
LS/Laser Gates
SS+2
u/f+4

Hei:
Broken Toy
2, 2 mixups
TPs

Kaz:
d/f+1 mixups
d/b+3
TPs (again)
d/f+2/WS+2

Duk:
VTS w/tech setups
d+4
d+1 (mainly against bigs)
f+2 mixups

I'm curious if anyone here gets the magazine Arcadia? I was told there was some new Tekken 6 information such as item use in the game (ie: Bryan's shotgun, Anna's shoe) and some other things such as a revamp of the fighting system, Yoshimitsu losing power with this sword, etc.

Slayer X Apr 21, 2007 01:48 AM

I don't know about this magazine article, however I have heard one new detail from Tekken Zaibatsu. Apparently each character will have an item attack in their move set. (Ie. Bryan's shotgun)

Ya know, if Namco turns Tekken into a "Hadoken!" fest game...I'll be forced to play DOA5 when it is released. I have this unsettled feeling in the back of my mind that Tekken 6 is going to possibly turn into another Tekken 4.

Slayer X Apr 21, 2007 10:02 AM

I don't think it'll be as bad as Tekken 4 because the fight mechanics are the same as Tekken 5 except with new moves and balancing of course. Ans the levels won't be full of crap to get wall comboed against either. The level design will be similar to that of VF5 really.

As for the item move thing. I was worried at first too but really, these moves will all be point blank moves that could have just as easily been a punch or something but with and item animation added. So instead of performing the Mach Breaker at the end of Bryan's combo, he'll use the shotgun. Balance is the same, just cooler animation.

If you want further changes and info on the mechanics of Tekken 6, just roam the Tekken Zaibatsu forms because all the info from magazines, interviews, and the arcade test location experiances are all documented somewhere in that place.

I suppose the plus side of it is the increase of the roster of charcters. More to learn which I don't mind at all. I'm still trying to get down Bob and his air juggles. I get half way through them and can't do any of the finishers. Oh well. Guess I'll just stick with my Kazuya, Yoshimitsu and Roger Jr. If they made the item throw/use more of say, an end combo type attack, I'd be happy with that. Just not something you can do over and over and over again. Namco just needs to steal DOA's environments of how they work and we'd have the perfect 3D fighter game.

Slayer X Apr 22, 2007 12:41 AM

True, the DOA enviroment thing would be cool, but with minimal damage recieved, because Tekken ain't about the enviromental damage and that would ruin it I think.

BIGWORM Apr 22, 2007 05:40 AM

Tekken has virtually no environmental damage--just small wall damage (which W! dmg alone can atone to a good chunk of life if your opp. has a decent wall combo against you).

Slayer X Apr 22, 2007 08:23 AM

I don't want to attack you for this I just want to set the record straight. We didn't say that Tekken has enviromentel damage, we said that Tekken 6 SHOULD have changeable stages like DOA (Can't believe that I'm actually saying that something in DOA is good).

New Tekken 6 scans found in NeoGAF.

It's not Tekken 6, but is still great news:

Dark Resurrection goes online

Manny Biggz Jun 16, 2007 01:23 PM

That new character seems so terrible. Namco fails in the originality department. :(

Slayer X Jun 17, 2007 12:30 AM

I don't know. At least their characters look highly detailed and have character. Even if they are cookie-cutter from time to time.

I like how Leo looks like Rock Howard from KoF. Which is probably because Shen from KoF is based off Steve Fox.

Leo

Rock Howard

Manny Biggz Jun 17, 2007 01:06 AM

But Shen is much more awesome. :D Steve gets beat down with the nerf stick while Shen gets a insanely huge upgrade in KOF XI.

Slayer X Jun 17, 2007 08:06 AM

Meh, I like them both. Steve has killer combos. Especially if you watch EVO videos, you can see his true potential. And Shen has good explosive power for when you need to play keep-away with your opponent.

The Furious One Jun 17, 2007 01:34 PM

man that character appears everywhere

http://xbox360media.ign.com/xbox360/...2113831159.jpg

What 16 year old likes playing the harmonica and enjoys drinking tea >_<

both should be replaced with 'internet porn' or something more believable.

Slayer X Jun 17, 2007 03:18 PM

lol, good point on the profile, ESPECIALLY since he's a DOA character, the low-brow fighter that anyone can play.

But yeah, Elliot does have the right figure and hair, but Leo is definately Rock inspired. Not only is it Leo's appearance that is similar, but also the attire. And also she's a chick trying to pose as a dude because either A) She's in deep shit or B) going to a convention and somehow got mixed up in the King of Iron Fist Tournament 6.

You talkin about Steve 5.0 or Steve DR? I already know about Steve 5.0. He can killl instantly for missing a jab for christ sakes!

Slayer X Jun 18, 2007 05:34 PM

Yeah, Steve 5.0. I haven't seen enough nor been able to get Steve DR to work well enough for me to know his potential. I'm still trying while cursing Namco at the same time, lol.

GameInfarcer Jun 20, 2007 10:25 AM

I can't wait for double-sword Yoshimitsu! And I'm a huge fan of the Jack characters. I love them!

Slayer X Jun 20, 2007 10:36 AM

This is the version I'm getting...

http://kotaku.com/assets/resources/2...arcade_cab.jpg

Now to raid the couch for $36,000USD... that's a lot of poket change.

Timberwolf Jun 20, 2007 09:09 PM

What does everyone here think of the "rage" system. Fighters low on health all of sudden dishing out more damage. No specifics yet.

I want to see it in action before passing judgment... but this could potentially be disastrous if not implemented right.

GameInfarcer Jun 20, 2007 09:20 PM

Yeah, it seems rather pointless to me. I'd rather you fill some sort of meter by accomplishing hard combos and the like.
