Hey, it works. Cool feature, Blah. People have been suggesting this since forever. I never actually thought it would happen though.

packrat Feb 10, 2007 02:46 PM

Do you HAVE to make it redirect to another page, and force a reload just for post propping? Sounds rather tedious. :(

Sarag Feb 10, 2007 02:51 PM

Dude, sweet.

Gonna spite downvote you for the downvote I got.

That's for basic, non-javascript behaviour. Eventually I'll code in AJAX functionality so you don't have to put up with the redirect, or the reload even.

Propped for this. =D

Great! I figured that you would eventually do something to that effect, but its always good to ask.

Rat why must you turn this into a house of lies?

Kolba Feb 10, 2007 09:56 PM

"You have successfully rated this post"

Phew. Can't help feeling I put myself on the line there.

Mersenne Feb 11, 2007 08:54 AM

Is there any way to remove or change a prop / diss?

packrat Feb 11, 2007 04:24 PM

Also, I'm wondering if the person doing the rating should be hidden from the rated person.
Suppose you don't want to offend anyone, but you also want to inform them that they made a shitty post.
I can see myself making a negative rating for what I see as a retarded post, and then, because this hypothetical person may lack any ability to self-criticize, they harbor some absurd grudge against me into the next decade.

Then again, I am just a taaaad bit paranoid about things like that.

Aardark Feb 11, 2007 05:31 PM

I thought this would be anonymous, but when you think about it, knowing who propped or dissed you is actually cooler. Also, that way people can't register zero-posting dupe accounts to fuck with the system.

Thats exactly the problem that I'm thinking of though.
Someone might see that I nega-propped their post, and think that somehow I'm in on some circle-jerk group against them. (which will pretty much never be the case)

But I can definitely see why that would be a plus as well.

Blast you double-edged sword features! :argh:

Love the feature, but

I'd like to second this request. Since they're not anonymous, it's a bit embarrassing when you fuck up and accidentally diss a post when you meant to prop it (especially when it was a polite answer to your request). You can remove member ratings and journal props, why not this?

Such a Lust for Revenge! Feb 17, 2007 09:30 AM

Along those lines we should also be able to later change our choice in polls.

Kolba Feb 18, 2007 09:36 AM

Similar to what we have for the journals, how about a Todays Propped list for posts? It would enable people to streamline their time spent on Gamingforce, by skipping whole chunks of discussions and just reading the highlights.

By equal measure, we could have Todays Dissed. Earlier, Sassafrass was lamenting the decline of mob crusades against individual members, and I'm with her on that one. A 'list of the dissed' would create a snowball effect and show everyone where to get in on the action. Nobody misses out. You can't get more community spirited than that.

Elixir Feb 18, 2007 09:46 AM

Awesome idea Kolba. Just what we need, more people trying to act cool on the internet for e-popularity.

There isn't that much discussion on the forums now. Skip the chunks and there's basically no gff to browse. :(

Franky Mikey Feb 20, 2007 06:05 AM

FUCK, I've just done it again.

Please implement an option to edit those ratings. Or don't put the two buttons so close to one another. ;_;

Such a Lust for Revenge! Feb 20, 2007 08:57 AM

Is that the mistake people are making? Like I noticed a prop and a diss for the same post from niki the other day.

Silly Frenchmen!

niki Feb 20, 2007 10:57 AM

Uh, really ? Which post ?

Oh right I remember. 'Was just testing around. =/

How do you know who propped what, anyway?

Check in your control panel page on the bommot left. Like where you can see who viewed your profile and stuff.
