It's too hard to find the good videos on YouTube amongst the clutter of skateboard crashes, video blogs, and fan music videos these days. Occassionally I run across something funny, but it also gives me a lot of difficulties with buffering on longer videos.

On the other hand, Wikipedia is very useful when looking for some quick facts. It may not be the most reliable source for writing papers, but it does make research much easier.

Haha, I've seen fucking wars go over the SLIGHTEST fucking innacuracy on the talk pages for articles for Wolverine and Anakin Skywalker, etc. I think it'd be a ton easier to get a false claim in on a page about September 11 or whatever.

No surprise that teachers tend to feel that way about Wikipedia. They don't trust anything that's not set in stone like their trusty teacher's aid books on the subjects they teach.

That is the only shitty thing about it, when I use it for class work (which I do all of the time) I have to find other sources and lie about the fact that I used Wikipedia.

I'd go with WikiPedia, as whenever I'm stuck on an assignment, I'll take a quick look at the Wiki for it. YouTube is being cut down to its prime thanks to companies threatening them.

Although I wouldn't say the average 15-year olds are racists, I would say they're definitely illiterate. A good example:

"LOL GRAET MOVI MAKE 4NOTHAR ONE!!"

No. It's like a forum. You take your time when making a post/comment, and make sure it's good. clean and definitely spelt right.

"It's really funny and good, you should make another one. =D"

Better. ^^

youtube wins automatically...u can find anything on youtube, where as wikipedia is bullshit cause it can be edited by anyone.

Such a Lust for Revenge! Feb 9, 2007 05:05 PM

Haha, the very thing that makes it great is your reason for it being bullshit. Also, you're bound to find more on Wikipedia. Sure, you won't get to see a video but we're talking information here.

Wikipedia is simply a large, freely edited encyclopedia. You wouldn't list, say, World Book as a source, right?

I really don't like youtube or its interface, but I can withstand it if it means watching a (rare/original) video there. I use wikipedia regularly; it and google are my two major "search engines". Although, it does get annoying when doing research on a topic on wikipedia. I usually try and find confirmation via google, y'know, with the (too) user-friendly interface and all. So I voted wikipedia.

Edit: The poll results are as I expected.

Man, only one for every six members prefers YouTube. I was way off.

I've actually used both wikipedia and youtube for educational purposes. Recently I had to go to a job interview. I didn't know how to tie a tie. Diagrams were useless. Youtube had a how-to video. Very helpful. I won.

Still voted for wikipedia though. It's great for satisfying idle curiousities. That's really just the internet in general though. Wikipedia simply condenses it.
