Just a thought. (And yeah, I know I'm just adding to the unnecessary length of this thread)

I get what you're saying.

Well, half the time, if it's hard game, it requires a confirmation. If you're the one who posted the pic, and you confirmed it's right, just say it's right, get the score list, and update the list. If you're dead confident you got it, update the score list, then post your picture in the same post.

This is how it worked for me somewhere else. Except everything needed confirmation. Anyone prefer it that way regardless of how easy the game is?

Also, score updated:

Score
Dekoa: 1
Philla: 1
StarmanDX: 1

Good point, I never thought of the confirmation factor. Oh well, everything should go smoothly enough so let's just keep our fingers crossed.

StarmanDX Jan 18, 2007 09:40 PM

I hope this isn't too well known; I don't know my obscure games well enough. At least it's old!

Correct! City of Angels.

This is probably what you get when you make a game based on a horrible horrible movie :(

StarmanDX Jan 20, 2007 02:54 AM

Ack, perhaps it's a lot more obscure than I thought. Here's a couple more screens:

But the real reason I thought it might be a little too well known:
Spoiler:
I thought at least a few members here would be familiar with a certain Pit.

Little Samson?

Cocoron

What was the point in posting an obscure japanese NES game on a game quiz thread where 1-3 people of the entire forum would know what it is? =/

Krelian Jan 20, 2007 09:24 AM

I dunno, what about all the amazingly obscure games which have already been posted?

Dark Cloud 2, Chibi Robo, Ribbit King, Bomberman Tournament.. they aren't all that obscure.

But hey, at least they're released in english. Unless someone imports or downloads jap games, they probably aren't gonna know what x japanese game in a game quiz is.

Chaotic Jan 20, 2007 01:48 PM

And something tells me that this is where they got the design for Drowzee in Pokemon...

Sorry, I forgot that it was only released in Japan. And I really doubt that only 1-3 people on the entire forum are familiar with the Rom Pit.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jan 20, 2007 03:54 PM

I dunno, making it a little harder makes sense. Then it won't be answered by the first person to get into the thread.

Summonmaster Jan 20, 2007 04:21 PM

Aaw I would have gotten 3 of the ones on the first page had I checked earlier in the month :s Still, shouldn't there be a slightly more defined obscurity rule? Of course, people shouldn't be able to guess it instantly like maybe FF X, but they shouldn't have to scour through obscure lists only to find out it's something phantom like Giftpia or Atelier Marie.

Actually I probably would've gotten both of those. Giftpia is a great game.

I think the obscurity rule is basically "must be a game released outside of japan" and that's it.

FatsDomino Jan 20, 2007 05:08 PM

Giftpia isn't that obscure. A good deal of us were looking forward to that game getting released here. I'm still annoyed they didn't bring it over.

map car man words telling me to do things Jan 20, 2007 05:49 PM

Just let the man post what game he wants. Everyone should use common sense when posting, the idea is to have a little challenge, not make it impossible to guess/recognize. If you think enough people should be able to recognize the title in question, post away. Only way to find out.

Making a "only outside jap releases only" rule is silly, since it's limiting and won't remove the impossible to guess obscure titles anyway. Plus then I wouldn't be able to post Earth Defence Force 2.

FatsDomino Jan 20, 2007 05:58 PM

Gonna post some Densetsu no Stafi 4 pictures since none of you fuckers would ever figure that out.

THE POWER OF WATER Jan 20, 2007 05:58 PM

Fuck, I totally knew Cocoron. :(

Elixir Jan 20, 2007 08:11 PM

Perhaps someone might like to post a picture or something.
