Everyday, but sometimes when we're out at sea due to various conditions I've had to go several days without showering. It's not like I have anyone to impress, but it does become a comfort issue, sometimes.
To elaborate on that: I live in a berthing with like 70 other dudes, we're all dirty and smelly from working a 24-hour-7-day-a-week schedule. We shower when there's water, but time can also be a factor. If I have to choose between showering and eating or showering and sleeping, I'm going to go with eating or sleeping. When I'm not at sea, though, everyday, without fail. |
At least once when I wake up. Pretty much once a day
Otherwises in college its like 2 or 3 a day; gotta enjoy the free gym. |

Do you wear a shower cap in order to keep your hair dry? Because I like how my hair is after I wake up, I really don't have to do much with it and it's fairly long. |
You should've made this poll public. =\
More than once a day here. One after I wake up and once before bed. I wash my hair only once though, it could be either session depending on when I feel like it. I shower for 15~20 minutes or so each time, less if I don't wash my hair. Another reason beside keeping myself clean, is because hot water feels damn good, cold weather or not. |
I normally shower at least once a day, but with my work schedual sometimes it really throws my shower schedual off. The longest i will allow myself to go without a shower is 2 days though.
|
General rule of thumb for me is....shower the night before work or in the morning before work. If I have to go somewhere that night after work, I'll take another shower.
|
I usually don't begin to feel really dirty myself for several days, so the regular showering is just for everybody else. If I'm not going to be interacting with anyone, there is no need. When I DO feel dirty, then I clean myself, and I think I take a greater pleasure from that, because it's not just a routine feeling of clean, but almost like a purification. The normal functions of life just take up so much time (and resources) that could be spent doing more interesting things.
|
During the week I shower at least once a day, but on the weekends I'll do it maybe once between both days, if at all. This is mainly because I don't go out that much on the weekends, though whenever I do I'll make sure to shower on the day I go out.
|
I shower once a day. I just wouldn't feel..."satisfied" without having bathed at least once a day. There would have been the occasional day when I was younger when I would skip having a bath/shower, but that's not that bad considering you obviously sweat less (despite running around more [but I guess that depends on the person]) when your little.
I couldn't stand bathing every, say, 3 days. 2 days I could tolerate, but beyond that is pushing it a bit. |
I shower everyday, normally at night just before I plan to go to bed. Should really do it in the morning, but I like my extra 10 or so minutes in bed.
|
Slimer has no need for showers! I tend to shower every day, somewhere at night. So I tend to shower every.. night. Especially now that it's Summer, there's not a whole lot of fun to be had getting into bed and you get stuck to the bedsheets. Well there could be, but this isn't a Sewers thread. Though there are times when it's once every two days/nights. Usually during Winter when it's three degrees cooler than the rest of the year.
|
I take a shower twice everyday. Once in the morning before school and again at night.
|
More than once a day, Now!
But boy, when I was a kid.... I don't see how I used to do that. |
This is how I shower:
I shower once per day, scrubbing my whole body with soap and only scrub my hair with shampoo one time. If I miss a day of showering (in other words, shower once after 2 days), I'll scrub my body with increased body soap, and I'll scrub my hair with 2 rounds of shampoo. I usually average 5-6 showers per week. For those of you who shower 2-3 times daily, you're only wasting more water and abusing the shampoo. If it's because of your 'sweating', then how about showering in the morning and 'rinsing' yourself at night? It should be good enough. Taking 2+ 'showers' daily obviously tells me you're just too paranoid of your BO, regardless of athletic activities. |
"Rinsing" doesn't help at all to get rid of built-up bodily oils from hours of excessive sweating during the hot summer months.
|
Twice a day. Once in the morning to wake me up - usually 5 minutes or so -and at night for a good wash for about 10-15 minutes. Yeah a shower once every 4-5 days is disgusting. And sometimes when I feel cold around the house and just want to freshen up, a shower works wonders.
|
I usually shower every other day. If it's a really rough or hot day, I will shower as needed. I do not like to be stinky!
|
Every day. I'm way too self-conscious of my appearance as it is to leave the house without making sure I'm clean.
|
I shower every morning when I get up, unless I know that there is NO chance I'm leaving the house. In that case, it's about a 50/50 chance of my taking a shower, depending entirely on mood.

When I was in school, I showered every morning. My showering schedule has been more erratic since I graduated. Nowadays, I shower when I need to go somewhere and when I feel unclean. I don't think that's unreasonable.
|
Everyday, when I get home from work. Like many others, my hair gets kind of nasty if I go a day without. :(
|
One in the morning and one at night.
|
I shower when I'm needed: uni, outings and the like. Otherwise I only shower when my filth becomes uncomfortable to stand, eg. itchy scalp from lack of shampoo. Showering twice a day is nothing short of appalling waste, especially in Aus. Even once a day's a tad rich, on occasion. You can go a single day without bathing and not stink at all.
An uncle of mine introduced me to the Asian Shower this Christmas, whereby you only turn on the water to wet and rinse yourself, reducing your usage to about 40 seconds. He's a practising Buddhist and scientist, so resource conservation's naturally on the sleeve. |
Once a day when i got out, when on break if I stay at home, every other days!
I don't want to stink! |
So I guess I'm the first who showers every 3 or 4 days, then. Why do you all shower so much? I used to shower every other day while I still had long hair to keep it nice, though since getting it cut it guess I could go a week without showering and be fine, though I don't. Working in a kitchen doesn't help, and forces me to shower more.
So how often do you guys get a minor illness then? I got a cold a few months ago, and don't really remember the last time I had anything before that. |
