SPOIL AWAY!

Spoiler:
So like, Infernal Monkey managed to spoil a picture. So this can hide spoiler pictures too? That's pretty handy for showing screen caps of future anime episodes or past ones which explain a crucial detail WHICH IS SPOILER MATERIAL

John and the T-800 embrace for the first and last time; then, the T-800 and Sarah shake hands, proving that she has finally accepted the T-800 as an ally… and a father figure. The T-800 steps onto a chain overlooking the molten steel pool and bids both of them goodbye; then Sarah lowers the chain, and the T-800, into the molten steel. As they watch from above, the T-800 slowly disintegrates in the sizzling pool of fire before dying out forever. The last actual image of the T-800 is its outstretched hand forming a thumbs-up, signifying that the T-800 has, indeed managed to understand humanity.:

+1 to this thread:
This will work well with my Werewolf games when characters identities are revealed. That and making monsters pop up out of nowhere (Thanks Infernal, you still win this thread. And six internets).

I wonder how long you can make this button and if it word-wraps around the page. Hmm. I'm going to continue typing out this spoiler button label to see just how far I can go. By the way, here's some copy and pasted text.
"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
That was cool. This button must be pretty big by now.:
You popped my button, asshole.

Rocca Mar 12, 2006 02:38 PM

Just noticed this now. I really like it.

FatsDomino Mar 12, 2006 02:48 PM

I like old spoiler because it tells you how much text there is. New spoiler is sort of a big surprise everytime 'cause you don't know how much is going to be inside. This can be a good and bad thing. I think it might be interesting to use this sort of thing for organizing sections of a main post so that you could minimize and unhide sections. Wouldn't be too bad an option. Oh well.

Surprise?:
Surprise! It's Kathy Lee Gifford! =D

I do think an improvement would be the ability to "re-spoiler" or close the bubble once you open it. It would make for more interesting/funny/interactive posts.

Eleo Mar 12, 2006 10:28 PM

I'm not sure I like this idea. In case someone decides to be a dick about spoilers, people could do something along the lines of:

It's a cookbook!:
zomg

And it would be way more in your face than just normal text. But okay, I guess this is easier than highlighting text.

The other problem is that I often prefer only highlighting the beginning of a spoiler, to gauge if I should read the whole thing.

nazpyro Mar 12, 2006 11:05 PM

Don't know if this will be a problem since I don't know anyone who actually uses it, but this kinda messes up the print version of the page. Probably just some extra code to accomodate for that.

Lion King spoiler:
Mufasa dies. Game over.

I wasn't complaining, merely stating that they shouldn't slack off with this new spoiler. It is still possible to be spoiled, and I wanted people to think about it.

Spoiler:
Roph, you too:(

Monkey King Mar 13, 2006 10:23 AM

I hate it already:
Oh wait, that WAS the spoiler, oops. But seriously, there was nothing wrong with the old highlight method. I can't believe you did this just because it wasn't hiding smileys. I reject your new world order, and will continue to use [oldspoiler]
