I just stay home. I don't really celebrate the New Year's at all anymore. The last time I did anything was back in 2003 when my buddy and I went to the bar and got piss-drunk. Then, we walked to my place and played some Age of Empires II.

Okay Charlies, what'd you do last night?

Almost went to Antigua Guatemala last night, the old capital, but ended up spending the year change with my "adopted" family. It was a good time, didn't feel so lonely even if I was the closest thing to a stranger there.

Afterwards, back here, I stayed up doing nothing more than drinking until six in the morning. Just happy to have spent it out in the fresh air, really, watching all the goofy fireworks.

Well, my plan was pretty docile this year, I was just supposed to be drinking at home with anybody who didn't want to go downtown - but around 2000, the pain in my back became so severe I couldn't move at all :( So yeah - I couldn't even get up to get more alcohol... it was pretty bad, better in the morning - still really sore, but at least I can move about.

So yeah - new years disaster for me... Could've been worse though - because if I was still in Bangkok - I would've been parting it up at victory monument (one of the bombing sites) around the time of the blasts...

When I was a kid we'd go to a family friend's house and all of the kids would get pots and pans and make as much noise at midnight as possible. 2004-2006 I spent at home alone watching movies until midnight, when I'd watch the ball drop. Last night my boyfriend and I watched the History Channel until it was time to watch the ball drop, and then we went back to the History Channel.

Funny thing...while we were waiting for the train on New Year's Eve, one friend said, "So Bill, did you hear about the bombing in Bangkok?" Then another friend chimed in, "Don't you mean Thailand?" =B

Anyway, after a couple dud years, we managed to find a decent event in the city. And by decent I mean there were as many girls as guys. And the guys weren't wearing wife beaters. And instead of Bud Light we had Corona, gin and tonic, and champagne. I basically spent all night with this one chick...in the closet, on an air mattress, in the stairwell, on the roof...you get the picture.
