For me though, the best thing about my procrastination is that it has created some of my best work... it is also responsible for much of the worse work I have ever done.
Still, the benefits outweigh the losses. |
I don't know where my work ethic went, but this year so far has been total procrastination. The worse instance was in December for my Calculus II Integrals and Differential Equations course. The material seemed slightly doable with practice whenever I was in lecture so I decided it would be easy. The week before the exam I had to basically learn the entire course from the halfway point within 6 days, and I spent every waking moment with a friend trying to solve problems.
Monday is our last day for this term, and I just know I'm going to procrastinate with all these new games I have. The fact that they're all spaced out almost exactly 3 days apart is bad too, since it takes more than three days per course to learn almost 2 months of work. |
I procrastinated on some annotated bib pages that were due but managed to pull it off.
|
I procrastinate so severely these days that something's gotta give. If I make it out of this semester alive I'll put five tally marks on the God side of the chalkboard.
I'm pretty sure that I've got Avoidant Personality Disorder. Having a chemical imbalance for so long has left me in sad shape. It used to be that the anxiety of failure at least forced me to do what needed to be done last minute. Now I have nothing keeping me from doing what I want, when I want. It's terrible. |

But yeah, I procrastinate a lot. I almost never do any of the papers I need to have done prior to the due date, and homework of mine inevitably manages to find it's way to the teacher's desk a day or so late. |
I'm doing it right now =D. I have to draft two pieces of coursework, write an essay for English, complete a form for a Univeristy application, do some random questions for Media and other such things. I've got all the time in the world (a few days)...
|
All the time (including now, I should be designing the low level API for the business logic of a capital labor reporting tool).
I always think "I'm going to start it in a few minutes, a few minutes won't matter". Except they do matter when you say that all night long. Or I think I'll work on it over the weekend. When's the last time I actually worked on something over the weekend. It's caused me some pretty miserable nights, but I almost always manage to get stuff in on time. Only time pressure motivates me I guess. But what I hate about procrastination is that I know I'm putting something off that I NEED to get done, so I can't justify putting my time to other projects, and then my time just ends up being wasted with neither accomplished. Bah. |
Yeah, for the most part. At the moment I have some important emails from all over back home to respond to but I'm fucking off around here... sadly most of my time at the moment is over silly Mina shit.

I've downloaded like 5 huge rar archives full of porn pics that I really need to sort and catalogue.

I rarely study at home or somewhere near a computer because that will reduce time used productively. Not even a TV, no sir.
I procrastinate a lot but now I'm making amends. Nothing like a job done sooner. |
I have finals coming up, despite that I continue to put off studying, and I know I'm going to start studying like a few hours before the final and disappoint myself when the grades come out.
|
I try not to, but sometimes I find myself getting distracted because of something interesting on TV or simply because I don't want to start working on an assignment. These days, I don't have much homework besides studying for exams, so I'm usually able to get that done during my free hours between classes.

Right now I should be finishing some designs but instead I'm.... here...

Hmm... right now I'm holding off on an essay and a research paper. The essay's either due this week or next week. The research paper is due in two weeks. Yeah... I've gotta really start that shit up.

I usually never procrastinate, and when I do it's only for long-term assignments like projects and essays.
But recently after watching Brokeback Mountain I haven't been concentrating WHATSOEVER and I haven't even finished my short-term homework I usually turn in on time. I can't stop it, I sit down at my desk to do homework and I start tingling with thoughts and I just... sit. Last time I fell into one of those 'trances' I sat there doing absolutely nothing but breathing for almost 1 hour, until my friend called on the phone. So I know a lot of you will say "It's just a movie, it's fake!", and seriously, I didn't even enjoy it TOO much (It isn't part of my top 3 movies) and I'm not even gay. But I can't stop thinking about it and I WANT to cry over it but I can't muster up the tears... I just get chills and chills and chills and it won't ever come out...... I guess this relates to the topic because I seriously cannot concentrate, and all my friends ask me if I'm "alright" and I just say "yea"... Erm, I know this might not be the place to talk about stuff like that but I don't have anyone else to talk to. Well..... I'm just typing this stupid post up on this forums so I can get it out; ignore it if you will, I didn't want to start a thread about it so I picked a familiar topic. Just for bringing it up. |
When I was at school I didn't tend to procrastinate a lot, except when it came to French though, I would do anything other than French. When at college I would always procrastinate, they were stupid enough to give us computers with Internet access, and that is were I spent most of my college life, in fact that's how I found this place.
Nowadays, I don't really have the time to procrastinate at work, it is really busy at the minute, but I still manage to find time to have a look at few things that on the Internet and still make it look like work though. |
Oh shit, you just stumbled on the secret of the International Baccalaureate program!
In all seriousness, if there's one thing IB has taught me to do, it's to procrastinate. Not just how to, but how to do it effectively. At this time, while I haven't had to whip out any papers yet (besides Lab Reports here at Virginia Tech), I can type up entire papers in matters of 30 minutes. Trust me, IB teaches you procrastination as well as the second all-time important skill, Bullshitting. Combine these two together, and....Got a 10 pages paper to write? Piece of cake, wake up at 7:00AM, start bullshitting your way through 10 pages, turn the paper in at 8:15AM, get it back, you see a 100 on your paper. Mission Accomplished. I NEVER do papers when they're assigned. The earliest I will actually start on them is 2 days before it's due. But, more often than not, the paper is done the same day it's due. |
i'm a master of procrastination. Hell, i put off a 15 page paper till it was three class periods late. That was out of the ordinary, though.
Generally, i like to get starting on writing after midnight day before. if it's art, usually take a bit more time, maybe after dinner the day before due. |
