You know, I don't even buy candy anymore. My roomate buys and eats candy and candy bars so much, I will just knock on his door for Halloween. Saves me from having to go outside and endure the weather.

Once you're in high school, you should be done trick or treating. At that point, you're too old. The candy's a treat for the little kids, and at that point and onward, you can get your own candy if you want it.

There shouldn't be an age limit on dressing up and going to a party though. The point of that is to have a party with people you know, and that doesn't take away from kids or anyone else.

I love handing out candy to little kids in costumes. They can be adorable. :D Teenagers who don't even dress up and walk around carrying a pillow case annoy me to no end, though.

I wish I had a little kid to take trick or treating. I always thought it was a lot of fun, but at 19, I know I'd get looks if I just went out by myself.

That's me! :/ I haven't gone trick or treating since probably the sixth grade as well. I'll still dress up for Halloween parties and such though. Those are always fun. And during college, it was all about going to haunted houses/places, both "fake" and "real" ones... ohh, scary-scary. :p

I stopped when I was like 14. Any older than that and you are really pushing it. If we get anyone older than about 16 here on halloween, I won't give them jack shit. Unless ofcourse they're just taking their little brother/sister out.

And if you're over 18 (and into the 20s?! Are you people serious) and you're still out trick or treating, that's just fucking sad. Make some friends and go to a party you social misfit.

I stopped when I was around 15ish. I don't not do it anymore because of etiquette, I don't do it anymore because I'm not a huge fan of chocolates and candies. But obviously a 20+ kid going to a door to get candy is still a little weird. So that plays into it too.

I planned to stop at 16. I'm going out this year, #20. Screw all of you, I like candy, and dressing up like a tool. It's the one day out of the year that I get to dress as weird as I behave! :D

Actually, I like taking my nieces and nephews out every year. Hanging with them is fun as hell anyway, but it's gonna be doubly so this year, with me and my older nephew dressed as Jedis, and my brother in his killer Darth Vader get-up. :D

People should be able to go out and get free candy whenever they want! It's age discrimination to say otherwise.

I miss being able to get free candy. Now I guess I just have to buy it myself... that's a bugger, because I never liked the costume aspect... I just liked the candy.

hmm I thought of something about those 17+ kids that come to your door when your giving out candy. Do you HAVE to give them candy? or can you just send them on there way?

Cause if you send them on there way they might throw eggs at your house or silly string or shaving cream you or your property.

When I move into a house one day (apartment), I would make sure to give teens candy since I'd view them all as no-goodniks out to egg/tp the house otherwise.

I stopped fairly early at 6th grade or so (10), since I never really liked the idea of trick or treating for some reason. I wouldn't see a problem with anyone in elementary school trick or treating, quite commonplace. I can see people in high school having fun still and even then only in groups, although I wouldn't be exactly down with that idea. I can imagine the outgoing uni students going in a group. If you're 30 or whatever, then you better be with a kid related to you, or you might garner some cock-eyed looks.

I think it's a bit ridiculous to go trick-or-treating after the age of 14. Even then.... Lots of people refuse to give out candy to some of those older beggars. Good idea, maybe they'll stop.

When I was *forced* to answer the door during Halloween (which I'd try to ignore by just playing music REALLY loud), I hated when those 15-18 year old snobby ass white kids came by with like a fucking eye patch or a HAT on like they're in costume. GTFO.

Personally, I have no problem with people of any age trick or treating; I don't mind as long as they are in costume that is.

Myself, I trick or treated last sophomore year in high school I believe, so I was 14 or 15 when I stopped. I definently remember Halloween being serious business as a kid, such as when I dressed up as Kane in 7th grade. I saw a $50 Kane mask and I was like "MUST HAVE, MOTHER". After that I was something I don't even recall in 8th grade, and in 9th grade my 20 something brother came to visit and we went out together, which was funny. I got the "aren't you too old" even then, despite the fact that I was thirteen. Me and my brother were just going out in custom white/black makeup jobs and some random props.

I personally enjoy Halloween for more of what it inspires than what it actually is.

Personally, I never went out trick or treating... My parents were control freaks and thought I was going to get kidnapped.

But I love to dress up in costume. I have been doing it at work for the pass week. Wearing silly hats, wearing my tiger tail, etc etc just for teh hell of it and been using the excuse that it's halloween.

I'd say that you're never too old for Halloween. It's just fun. Hell, I'm planning on going trick-or-treating for cigarettes around my college. Last year a friend and I dressed up as ninjas and went around giving candy to kids shuriken-style. That was pretty awesome.

The last few years I went trick-or-treating, I went with an IRL friend, but he wasn't able to come the past two years... so I didn't do it then. It's not as much as fun without a friend, no matter the age (I'm 20 now).

Win! Maybe I'll do /that/ this year. :D I live out in the middle of nowhere, so no one ever comes to my house. (On the plus side, that means I can still legitimately buy a buncha candy and then keep it all when no one comes!)

Fuck, man - if you're going to hand out free food to whomever is going to walk by in costume, I am going to totally try and get in on that action. Especially when I am a starving kid whose roommate vacated while being under a lease and I am left to pay all the bills alone.

There's a difference between trick-or-treating and celebrating halloween when you're older. I stopped trick or treating when I was probably 14-15... But I'm 21 and go to halloween parties. Getting free candy is great when you're younger... but it gets lame when you get older.
