I think the first game I remembered buying with my own money was Virtua Racing for Sega Genesis. Yes, I paid the $98. :D

NES - I got Super Mario Bros. 3. Love that game. even today I still play it sometimes.
SNES - Outside of Super Mario World, which came with the system, the first game I got was Sim City... Yep, that's how my attiction to that series started... I have Sim City 2000 for SNES as well. Playstation - First game was Gran Turismo. After playing the demo over and over on my playstation, I had to buy the game. I also own GT2. Playstation 2 - Hmmmm..... Onimusha and Tekken Tag Tournament I bought at the same time. I got pretty good with a character in Tag and I finished Onimusha. I enjoyed Onimusha so much, I rented the second one when it came out. Gameboy - Zelda: A Link to the Past. GREAT game! I still own it. Gameboy Color - Harvest Moon. I loved Harvest Moon since the SNES one came out, so buying it for GBC was a no brainer. |
NES: Duck Hunt - I remember going out with my brother one night just to pick this one up.
SNES: Super Mario World - I would play this game immediately after I came home from elementary school. I managed to reach the last stages on my own but didn't finish the game until months later. PSX: D - It's an obscure game that not many people I know have played. It was an interesting but short game that involved the exploration of a mansion in order to solve a mystery. Sega Genesis - I think it was Golden Axe. I remember how much time I spent playing this one. N64 - Super Mario 64 - I didn't get this one for myself this time. I think someone gave it to me for Christmas. Dreamcast - Soul Calibur - Again, it was a gift. PS2 - Metal Gear Solid 2 - I managed to finish the game in two days and went out to get another one that same week. Xbox - HALO - I started the game, stopped playing for a few months, and I later found out that my brother had finished it before me. NDS - Just like most of my Nintendo consoles, it was a Mario game. Even if I already owned Super Mario 64, the DS version of the game came with the system. |
Before the nes I can't really remember my first games bought for the Commodor or the Atari.
NES - Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior (bought them at the same time and enjoyed them both immensely). Sega - Teddy Boy (I played this in the hospital for months, grew addicted to it and got the system later with the game so that I could play it all the time). Genesis - D&D Warriors of the Eternal Sun (a game I was sooo addicted to it wasn't even funny). SNES - Final Fantasy II (Bought this and never owned the system at all, heh). Sega CD - Afterburner 3 (Loved this game. Short but sweet and fun). Gameboy - Tetris (only cuz it came with it), otherwise Final Fantasy Adventure. Playstation - Soul Blade and Gran Toursimo 2 (bought the system much after it came out and got these two games so that I could properly enjoy it for a while. Then I got FFTactics and Chrono Cross, and I lost a lot more of a life...) Playstation 2 - Final Fantasy X (boy was that a mistake of a game to buy. I played more PS1 games on my PS2 for soooo long afterword). PC - Diablo (Most of the games I had on the PC were free or downloaded before this. This came out and it was the first game I officially spent money on to support it. I just wish a damned Diablo III would come out). PS3 - Eventually, with the extensive library of Armored Core 4. Maybe the new Marvel RPG... |
NES: I got this for Christmas when it was basically on it's last legs. Megaman IV was out by this point. Anyway, games i got for it were SMB, SMB 3, Chip and Dale, Monopoly, Monster Trucks, Duck Hunt, Bad Dudes, TMNT I, TMNT II (I think), Milion's Quest, and a slew of other games.
SNES: My parents got this after me asking for years for it. I got SMW and Mario Paint with it. Gameboy: Got this for Christmas along with Zelda: Link's Awakening. Good game. PS1: I bought with my hard-earned cash. I got Wild Arms, and NWO VS WCW: World Tour. Thank goodness I got Wild Arms and NOT Beyond the Beyond. N64: Christmas present. I got Super Mario 64 and one other game that escapes me. In truth, it was a bad investment because after I got it, it was like "What other games are there to play?". Hmmmm.... GBA: I got Golden Sun 1 with this and Fire Pro Wrestling I (I think). PS2: I bought this with Smackdown! 3. Good fun, even if I got it on the second day of classes at my new college for the summer (in which I found out I missed the first day (or week since each day represented one week)). Dreamcast: I got Sonic Adventure. Not bad. I found out the next week that the system went down fifty bucks. Now that's bad. About a year later I got a 'back up system'. Not bad. Three days later, the system went down ANOTHEr fifty bucks. Ugh. |
NES: I'm pretty sure it was Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt. I can't remember if I got other games along with it.
SNES: I got this console from my uncle, so it came with 6 games: John MAdden Football, NBA Jam, MLBPA Baseball, NBA Live 95, Super Star Wars, and Mortal Kombat II. I just realized now that I don't have Super Mario World... I need to get that. PlayStation: Tekken 3. I remember not having a memory card the first week I had this game, so each day I would pretty much unlock everything over and over again... Game Gear - Forgot about this. I'm pretty sure it was some Sonic game, but I can't remember anymore; especially since I forgot I had this lying around in my cabinet. :tpg: Sega Genesis - I think it was X-Men. That game is hard as eggs. :/ Dreamcast - I just got this console for free after helping a friend repair a bunch of them. As for "first game" I got a bunch of copies as he gave them to me, including Rez, Typing of the Dead, Ikaruga, Puzzle Fighters, PowerStone 2, Skies of Arcadia, Crazy Taxi, Crazy Taxi 2, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Chu Chu Rocket, Red Dog: Superior FIrepower, ... and that's all I can think of off the top of my head. PlayStation 2 - I got this after my high school graduation, and the first 3 games I got were Final Fantasy X, TimeSplitters, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4. GameCube - I got this my sophmore year of college I think off eBay, along with NBA Live 2004, Madden 2004, and Mario Kart: Double Dash. GameBoy Color - I can't remember what the first game I got for this was. By guessing, it probably was Pokémon Yellow. GameBoy - I came across this way after having a GameBoy Color for a while, so I had a bunch of titles; including the Final Fantasy Legend series, Tetris, and many pirated titles from the Philippines. GameBoy Advance - I got F-Zero: Maximum Velocity and Castlevania: Circle of the Moon along with it at launch. GameeBoy Advance SP - I do believe I got Final Fantasy Tactics Advance after I picked this awesome GBA update. Nintendo DS - Super Mario 64 DS was bundled with it, but I also got Meteos and Kirby Canvas Curse at the same time. Nintendo DS Lite - Of course I already had a bunch of DS titles, but the first game I got after getting this was New Super Mario Bros. Looking at the future: GOTTA GET DAT WII - I plan on getting Excite Truck, Red Steel, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Wii Sports, and Trauma Center: Second Opinion at launch. EDIT: Forgot about my Game Gear. :tpg: |
I don't really remember the first games I had it's so long ago but I had a Commodore 64 and a Spectrum (ZX?), can't remember anything I played on them though.
From there I moved to the PC and played the Duke Nukem and Doom games, also a LOT of shareware as it was cheap and I was skint. In 1997 I bought a Playstation 1 with Spyro and Crash for my kids for xmas. That night after they'd gone to bed I set it up and make sure it worked and I was hooked! Also bought FF7 but couldn't get into it atall so that was shelved for several years. Next was the PS2 which I bought to play Medievil and FF-X. After I was hooked by FF-X I went back and had another go at 7 and loved it. I think that was more or less when I became hooked on rpg's. Xbox was purchased with Halo and Jet Set Radio Future but I never played them, bought Morrowind The Elder Scrolls instead. I bought a second-hand N64 solely to play Zelda and Banjo - loved Zelda, hated Banjo - but never bought any other games for it. In between that lot I've played on a Gameboy, Gameboy colour, GBA, GBA sp and NDS lite. Most of these belonged to my kids but I did buy the occasional game for me! (Golden Sun, FF Tactics) I'm getting an Xbox 360 next with Oblivion and also a PSP and Valkyrie Profile. My husband wouldn't let me buy a Gamecube or Dreamcast as he says I have far too many consoles already (3 x ps1, 2 x ps2 and 2 x xbox - man I hate not being able to play cos my kids are on so I need all these extra ones just for me) Needless to say he's not a gamer! |
