I dont play WoW, but the game references in general were still hilarious.

Ironically, I missed it because I was playing WoW... Undead Strat run took horribly long ;__; THREE STITCHINGS DOWN. SEVEN TO GO OLOLOL

Wow, that episode was really funny! Using the in-game footage like that was really well-done - made me think of Red vs. Blue, if RvB were about people playing Halo. Quality machinima. The WoW jokes were all very funny, and as a WoW player myself, I understood all of them. I liked how they seemed to make explicit reference to the Leeroy Jenkins video when they were planning their massive battle against the PKer. Excellent reference humor.

In general, an awesome episode. I loved how the four of them got really fat and pimply. They snuck in, possibly, a different little jab at how the 'industry is ruining our country' when Stan's dad threw the guy out of the car. So good.

Same here. Me and my sister have never played a single Blizzard game, but we were laughing our asses off the whole time nonetheless. It had lots of WoW references (I'm assuming), but most of them seemed broad enough so that even casual gamers could get them.

I only caught the last 5 minutes or so because I was busy playing LEGO Star Wars II, but it looked hilarious. It was great how they were even using Goldshire's music. I'll have to catch it when they rerun the episode later in the week since I played WoW for about a year.

Is that in the game now, or is it part of The Burning Crusade? I thought for sure it wouldn't be in the game until you could fight Arthas the Lich King.

It isnt in the game, the whole skit in South Park was made just for that episode.

Identity Crisis Oct 5, 2006 12:38 AM

I saw the episode a few minutes ago. I don't play World of Warcraft either, but I thought the entire episode was genius. Every time somebody said internet lingo out loud, it cracked me up!

Greatest Line Ever:
"How do you kill someone that has no life?"

That episode was genius. I loved how they used the in-game footage, but i've no idea how they got everything sync'd to their voices.

Bravo Matt and Trey, bravo.

Gechmir Oct 5, 2006 08:46 AM

Bliz probably helped them out and had some guys doing model tricks and such. Wonderful PR stint (as if they needed it) ;D

I would have thought that when they stomp the guy's head to a bloody pulp gave away Blizzard's involvement, that and all the damn Blizzard logos in the episode.

Spoiler:
It was an enjoyable episode. Though I thought that the Blizzard product placement was a bit excessive, and their influence may have tamed the episode a bit too much (WoW was shown in a pretty good light, and we didn't have crazy stuff like sex in the game or something). Nevertheless, it's a much watch for any gamer.

Troy-Bagnell Oct 5, 2006 04:18 PM

wah!

how was it shown in a good light? it made it look like WoW turns kids into obese nerds with no lives. if anything I thought it was very negative towards WoW.

Shenlon Oct 5, 2006 09:00 PM

people at dailymotion.com usually get the south park episodes up in a few hours after it airs.
You can see the full new episode here if you've missed the warcraft episode

I loved the Vent talk! :D My girlfriend was cracking up even harder than I was, given she's heard my guildies talking over vent during a dungeon run.

Overall, I think they could've done a lot more with the episode. Maybe Comedy Central can convince Blizzard to do a mini-series of WoW episodes Red vs. Blue style.

Just finished watching it...

Yep, it was AWESOME! I love the lip-syncing in the WoW. I especially loved the Butters moment... lol LOL . I love Butters, he is my favorite because he is soooo cute and innocent. :D

Yes butters is probably the most normal child but his perents are fucked up, I somehow wish cartman killed them too ^_^

FatsDomino Oct 6, 2006 02:18 PM

I googled for Hello Kitty Island Adventure after the show. No dice. :(

Figured of getting the game? You know that would make it even more hilarious, if it actually existed. :)

FatsDomino Oct 6, 2006 02:26 PM

I'd be playing it right now but no. Thanks for getting my hopes up, Butters. :(

There was also Stan's father who did not get obese. Plus all the character animations might trick some people who don't play to think that you can actually do all that in the game.

FatsDomino Oct 6, 2006 03:50 PM

Stan's father didn't get obese because he was one of the many who just didn't play much if at all because of the monster player on the loose so what's your point?

Basically that this episode of South Park will probably help sales of WoW more than it will hurt. I'm sure that people might get curious and give the game a try.
