Off topic: Servilonus has a sig/av combo that's similar to one I had like a month ago. I literally did a doubletake when I saw it. :tpg:
On topic: I hate giving speeches. When I do, my palms sweat a lot and I can't look up at the audience. I just can't. Outside of speeches, when I'm nervous, I bite my bottom lip, chew my nails and cuticles, pick at any 'boo-boos' I may have on my hands or arms, pick at my pen/pencil, etc. I also crack my knuckles. :( I'm a nervous wreck. |

I do basically the same thing before any public speaking. No matter how prepared I am, I'm always nervous and shakey nonetheless. |
I usually play with my hair or chew a pencil fucking hard.
If I get extremely nervous, I get involuntary tremor's in my neck. Nothing I can do about that. |
I take my rings on and off, twist those and my piercings, bite my nails, run my hands through my hair, play with loose threads on my clothes, chew pencils and pens (I've got about 5 biros kicking around somewhere that I've bitten right through), pick at scabs, drum my fingers and examine my hands. I would've added that my hands shake but they do that normally anyway and I'm not sure why =s

I usually, drink more (Not alcohol), water and pop, etc., and I chew my inside gum as well. I do that when I am bored too...
I get sleeping when I am nervous too.... freaking... so as a result, I sleep more. |
My hands tend to shake when I'm nervous, and I also tap my right foot on the ground, but only ever so slightly. I also bite my nails, but I do this anyway.

I do the normal nail biting thing.
I also clench my jaw really tight sometimes. And I've noticed lately I'll clasp my hands together... |
When I get nervous, I start chewing gum and putting my head down with my hands wrapped around it. I also nibble on my lip.
|
I often cross my legs alot and keep switching them within a min or two.

I wouldn't necessarily consider it to be nervous habits to me, but more along the lines of bad habits:
Here's what all I can pop: Knuckles, fingers, tips of fingers, feet, toes, back, elbows, legs, neck, wrists, and ankles. One time I've popped my knuckles on my left hand 100 or so times, all I have to do is press down on it and then I can pop them however many times I want until I can't for awhile. I can also pop my wrists quite a few times too. Nervous habits: Anyway, as for nervous habits goes. I'd have to say I start to freeze up and begin to start stuttering and having a hard time thinking up the right thing to say when I'm put on the spot by someone, for instance when a teacher calls on you to say answer a question, or be called upon to go in front of the class to present a report or project. I also freeze up, have a hard time finding what to say, and stutter when being grilled upon by numerous questions from people who never give you a chance to answer back. Seems the majority of the world is impatient. Another example, my sister is 22 (will be 23 around the closing of November), if I normally don't respond to her when she's online, she gets all upeset and impatient and goes "HELLO?! Are you there?!..." and the conclusion ends up being she thinks I'm ignoring her, sometimes even signs off before I get to the convo, or even see it at all. This all takes place within around a minute or so, sometimes even less than a minute (give or take). I'm younger than her too (20 years old as of now, 21 in April of 2007), and I know not to hammer away on people through the internet. So my nervous habit is being grilled on questions by people and people that are too impatient and end up stuttering or freezing up. I admit this world is fast paced. Obviously not in Walmart, haha... But they just need to chill out sometimes and wait for the person to answer them back without people being hammered away on with questions or impatience. And I always have to end up asking my sister if she's mad at me or not for not "replying in her preferred time limit." Maybe this is classified more as a pet peeve than it is a nervous habit, perhaps both, but oh well, call it what you want. |
I bite my nails, and the skin around them too. I really need to get out of the habit as it makes my nails and fingers look disgusting.
I also tend to drum on a surface with my fingers or hand when I'm nervous. Although that's not really a habit that affects my physical appearance too much, it just helps relax me. |
