Quest For Glory is a great one too

Old topic, but figured I'd stick in my 2 cents.

The entire King's Quest series is worth a look, particularly King's Quest 5 & 6. The artwork in these games is gorgeous, and the musical score is exceptional considering when they were made. They also aren't so old that the graphics are horribly pixellated, and the game does support a mouse :).

Yeah...I know. Graphics whore. Not really though. I like amazing gameplay over graphics as much as the next guy, but there comes a point where it just detracts from the fun, unless I'm playing it on my NES :).

I can suggest with all my heart the last sequence of The Longest Journey called DREAMFALL.

Very, very intresting adventure. Story, graphics, not so hard puzzles, everything is so good and logic. I enjoyed so much during my play.

The Quest for Glory series is spectacular, definitely one of my favorites growing up. All 5 games are a little difficult to run on modern PCs but if you use DosBox you'll be able to run 1-4 with relative ease. 5 is a whole other bag of tricks, but it can be run under XP properly with a not-so-obvious file tweaks.

I can't believe that no one has mentioned The Neverhood, easily one of the best games of all time.

It completely slipped my mind, but yeah, I'll second that. The claymation was awesome. Though the game had some annoying puzzles (that wall that seemed to stretch to infinity?), and most of them had no relation to the story.

The Hall of Records is one of the most awesome things in the whole game. The stories that it contains are incredibly well-written.

I agree.
