the problem is that .hack//sign wasn't about the fight or an action anime...

Conan-the-3rd Mar 15, 2006 02:51 AM

Thats strange, I was under the impression that .hack//GU would be anohter multi-media series like .hack//Infection was.

Instead of the same stroy over the media.

I guess it emulated the MMORPG feel quite well then.

Himetsu Mar 16, 2006 02:09 PM

I've been watching titles done by Bee Train recently. (Noir, Madlax, Liebe, .Hack//SIGN)

And I hope .Hack//Roots will be improved over the original series. .Hack//SIGN wasn't my cup of tea but it won't hurt to check this out.

Yume Mar 16, 2006 02:56 PM

Having enjoyed the .hack//sign series grealty, I am really looking forward to this new series since the release of the last series from the .hack world, .hack/Legend of the Twilight.

The use of a PK as a main character is interesting as this series might actually introduce more fight scenes when compared with .hack//sign, only a handful of fight scenes throughout the entire series. I'm not complaining about the lack of action in the last series but with the world they were in it was hard not to expect some level of action.

I have high hopes for the series after playing the games which added to the already awesome storyline.

Synthesis Mar 16, 2006 02:56 PM

It's becoming commonplace between .hack fans to be similar to those, "Don't watch the movie, the book is so much better". Now it's, "Don't watch the anime, the game is so much better" or vice-versa.

Which reminds me, AI buster (the book), readable?

Yes, i found the first one, and what i have read of the 2nd one sitting at the store for 15 mins good. And from the reviews i have read of them, they are well translated(not that i could tell with my bad grammer and such) :p. But i have picked them both up, and they have been enjoyable!

Conan-the-3rd Mar 27, 2006 11:31 AM

Shoot, Just went and got myself Boogiepop and others (My Local Comicbook store rocks somthing dumb, geting somthing that's a Borders US excuslive 4 moths early than the "And others" Release date.)

I highly recommend Boogiepop and Others over .hack//AI buster in this instance because AI buster's translation was dreadful. Tokyopop didn't pay attention to any standardized English terms at all, so AI buster (and AI buster2, and probably Another Birth) has some wacky terms that will make readers scratch their heads.

Not to mention the huge mistake they made with a character's gender in AI buster. Oopsie, Tokyopop, might want to go back and research what you're translating.

The Plane Is A Tiger Mar 27, 2006 07:29 PM

Damn, there's more than one novel out already? Now I have to track it down during my Kingdom Hearts 2/Harvest Moon shopping run on Thursday. ;___;

For some reason, I've loved all things .Hack so far except for the .Hack//Key of the Twilight anime. Near the middle it turned away from what the manga did and was pretty awful. .Hack//Sign was interesting to me since I was more curious about the plot rather than hoping for tons of action. AI Buster was okay for a quick read, but Tokyopop did seem to make it a bit confusing on the main character's gender.

Like Conan-the-3rd said, it's surprising that .Hack//Roots seems to pretty much mirror the game rather than add a different story to it. I hope it becomes certain as to whether or not that's the case soon, since I'd rather not spoil the game by watching the anime first.

The character I'm referring to with the gender confusion is Albireo's/Watarai's assistant at CC Corp., the one who's referred to as a male in the translation. That character is actually Shibayama Saki, otherwise known as Kamui.

.hack//Roots doesn't mirror the games. That's G.U.+, the manga adaptation of the games. Roots merely precedes the game.

The Plane Is A Tiger Mar 27, 2006 07:56 PM

Ah yeah, I remember being confused when they started saying Kamui was a male all of a sudden.

Good to know about the anime. I can steer clear of the manga easily enough until I finish G.U.

MrSatan Mar 27, 2006 08:05 PM

BTW when is supposed to be released this series?
is it already being licensed by any company?

aku Mar 27, 2006 10:52 PM

TRAILER!
TRAILER!!!
havent watched it yet, but im dling it!

soulsteelgray Mar 27, 2006 11:08 PM

Ahh, there's not much to say about it. If the song playing in the background is Silly-Go-Round, well, it sounds weird and not at all fitting to the atmosphere G.U. is trying to create. I doubt it is, though, since it doesn't sound like a typical Yuki Kajiura composition. Maybe it's Boukoku Kakusei Catharsis?

aku Mar 27, 2006 11:12 PM

-_-;; i know i couldnt expect greatness out of a 9mb clip...but still shows some of the animation and probly the opening theme...meh...i still wana see more...and i want the audio from the trailer where he meets Tri-edge(the game trailer)!!! I WANT IT NOW...if anybody knows where i can get it, point me in the directions :D

The Plane Is A Tiger Mar 27, 2006 11:27 PM

Um, I have a translated version of the game trailer if that's what you mean.

As short as the clip was, I still like what I see for the animation.

MrSatan Mar 28, 2006 01:39 AM

Tritoch, where i can find the trailer?

The Plane Is A Tiger Mar 28, 2006 01:53 AM

The game trailers can all be found right here. I think the TGS Subtitled one is the translated trailer.

MrSatan Mar 28, 2006 02:29 AM

Conan-the-3rd Mar 29, 2006 08:47 AM

Hutta, I absoutley have all hope that Beetrain won't make this feck boring like //sign

Rain Sun Moon Mar 29, 2006 03:29 PM

A few chapters of the manga have been translated by some people already. I didn't like .hack//sign or the other 1 gajillion sequels either, but the manga was actually pretty entertaining. I think they finally hit a good balance between storyline and action, but I could be wrong since it's too early in the manga to tell... I remember how badass the first episode of .hack//sign was... only to hope for a glimmer of it's greatness throughout the other 25 episodes that I sat myself through.

aku Apr 5, 2006 09:25 PM

The first episode aired today!...but it doesnt appear that anybody has picked it up as of yet, im sure some one will, some one was kind enough to cut the op out, and make a torrent...meh
