Yeah, Probotector (which also replaced the humans with robots). Although they started keeping the Contra name with the PS2 games. =o

DjMeas Oct 9, 2006 08:19 PM

So this is out tomorrow, anyone else planning to purchase
this besides me?!?!

I hope the bowling is fun, i'm in the mood for some pin-knockin' ^_^

Freelance Oct 9, 2006 09:39 PM

I was going to get it, but unexpected plans came up. I won't get it until November now. I hope all you guys won't stop playing it by the time I purchase it! I'm looking forward to playing some multi.

Rockgamer Oct 9, 2006 10:29 PM

I'll probably be picking this up tomorrow. I spent a little more money than I wanted to on my MP3 player, but I still have enough to pick this up.

J-Man Oct 9, 2006 10:58 PM

Will be expecting reviews.

Well, IGN has had their review up for about a week now (though it's for the European version, which is practically the same thing with a different name), and they seem to like it.

J-Man Oct 10, 2006 12:06 AM

I know, but I like seeing different perspectives on things like this. IGN is one of the more eratic reviewers I find also, so another oppinion is always good.

xMxEdGaRx Oct 10, 2006 11:27 AM

This game got my attention just because it has some games with online feature.... Looking forward for it....

RABicle Oct 10, 2006 11:37 AM

So we're all in agreement here right? This is GOTY. I mean did you know what the game they are calling "Last Card" is inactual fact UNO.
Let's just think about that for a minute. 8 player UNO online with colour pictochat.

Okami, Zelda, CoD 3, these games might as well be cancelled now.

And holy shit, 6 player online Chinese Checkers. I've never managed to convince more than one other person to play Chinese Checkers with me, now I'll be able tot ake on 5 other clowns.

JazzFlight Oct 10, 2006 03:29 PM

Well, remember, pictochat is only if you're playing with "friends," not random people. Then it's boring old pre-set messages.

Infernal Monkey Oct 10, 2006 11:02 PM

IGN at their best. They just put up a review for Clubhouse Games and gave it 8.5. But a few days ago they reviewed 42 All-Time Classics and gave it 8.0.

THEY'RE THE EXACT SAME GAME.

DjMeas Oct 11, 2006 12:34 AM

Jazz, you mean if you're playing VIA WiFi then you'll have to use
default preset messages???

But by friend do you mean playing it Ad-Hoc or do you mean
actually inputting a certain friend's code WiFi?

kensuke Oct 11, 2006 04:18 AM

If you play via WiFi with friends codes, then you can draw things.. If you play with random strangers then it's default messages.

Buizel Oct 11, 2006 09:28 AM

Nintendo doesn't want people to go "OMFG WTF BBQ asl?!?!11" while playing against stranger.

I can't pick up this game this week. I might have to wait until the end of the month! :/

JazzFlight Oct 11, 2006 02:16 PM

Anyone want to get friend codes together for this game?

Mine is:

Rockgamer Oct 11, 2006 02:47 PM

I was just about to make a wiki page for this, but I see naz has already done it.

I'll still post my friend code here too, though.

Got my $25 gift card at Circuit City just in time for this. Dominoes are a little wonky compared to what I'm used to, but fun nonetheless.

Playing through dominoes on Stamp Mode took FOREVER, but I think I got a proper feeling for the game by the end.

What's with Texas Hold'em having 20 hands be the default game length for multiplayer? I hope you can change that, because it's way too long (30-40 minutes).

DjMeas Oct 11, 2006 09:49 PM

I shall get my copy this Friday and join you all for some BOWLING!

^_____^ How are some of the other games holding up? Fun?

Rockgamer Oct 12, 2006 12:46 AM

I just got through playing this game for like to hours with my sister, and we probably didn't even get through half the games. Still, almost every one we did get to was fun.

I actually don't like bowling too much. It seems way too easy to wind up in the gutter (in one of the games we played I went into the gutter for like 5 frames before I hit a single pin), one of the reasons being that the lane is too narrow in my opinion. Maybe I just need more practice or something, but so far I don't see myself playing that one too much.

By far, my favorite game is darts ('sup nutty). It has the perfect balance of difficulty, the wait isn't that long when playing with multiple people, and it's just fun to play. This is the one I can see myself playing the most.

As for some of the other ones:

-Grid Attack (Battleship): Another one of my favorites. It's Battleship, what else do I need to say?

-Connect Five (Connect Four): Some of these rules were way too complicated (all that 'forbidden move' crap), so unless you can change them (I haven't tried it yet), I probably won't be playing it that much (why couldn't they just make it simple like regular Connect Four).

-I Doubt You: Unfortunately I didn't get to try this out with my sister, but I had a lot of fun playing against the computer. It seems like it would be really fun if you could get a good sized group of real players (though sadly, this is one of the few non-wifi games on the card).

-Word Attack: I guess Hangman would be the best comparison for this game. I had fun with it, though most of the words seem pretty damn hard to solve, especially the shorter ones.

-Billards: The controls took some getting used to at first, but once I got the hang of it I had a blast!

We played more than just these, but I'm not gonna sit here and write about all of them (and some them don't really need a write-up, like Checkers or Blackjack). But overall, this is definitely some of the most fun I've had with my DS all year. I hope I can actually get back to my other games, because this one is addicting!

Infernal Monkey Oct 12, 2006 01:25 AM

Thanks for the impressions! Can't wait 'til the 26th. I had no idea Grid Attack would be a Battleship style thing, that's cooler than Jesus breakdancing in a freezer. How is Billiards controlled exactly? Do you swipe the stylus towards the ball? I've been playing Billiard Action on DS, it's by the same developer as Clubhouse Games, but everything's done with the face buttons which is a bit.. of a wasted opportunity, I guess.

nuttyturnip Oct 12, 2006 07:15 AM

Darts is my favorite so far as well, although I've only played an hour or so, therefore I haven't tried a whole lot of the games. Spit was fun, and fast-paced, and should be fun multiplayer. I'm looking forward to trying the Uno clone (Last Card Plus) tonight.

For some reason, Spit is one of the games that isn't able to be played online.

Which sucks, because then it would be my favorite game.

Perhaps it was due to the possibility of lag messing up the results (since it's so fast paced).

Yep, you just swipe the stylus towards the ball (they have this little arrow thingy that has a line showing you where you're aiming at, which is what you use to hit the cue ball with) how hard you do it translating to how hard you hit the cue ball. It seems way easier than using the face buttons (I don't any of the games on here use the face buttons for gameplay).

I actually didn't like Spit too much, though that was probably just because I was playing the computer (who seemed way too fast for my taste). Maybe when I play against my sister I'll like it better.

I haven't played Last Card Plus yet, but I did play the regular Last Card (do they really need two almost identical games on here?), and it was kinda bland. Most people will probably just stick to Plus, since it's more closer to Uno (in the regular one, you can only put down a matching suit, not a matching number like in Uno).

But seriously, once more people get this game, we should setup a GFF Clubhouse Games tournament or something. We could vote on which games to play and stuff, and overall I think it would be a lot of fun.

Freelance Oct 12, 2006 04:16 PM

Wow, every person has said good things about the game so far, so I'll look forward to getting it. I never knew there was an UNO clone though. It's just getting better and better!

How is Mahjong Solitaire like? Do you get to play the default layout with traditional tiles?
