Touche (with acute accent on the "e"). You're correct. I totally forgot about that :P

But even so...wouldn't it be prime to see Malkin or Ovechkin go at it? Just once?

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Jan 20, 2007 11:47 PM

If it were ever an even fight like that, yeah, it would be. But it always ends up being something like Crosby vs. Rory Fitzpatrick. Not exactly an even loss for both teams.

And Naslund missed his potential game winning shot in the shootout...big surprise...he still isn't shooting it the way he used to.

uhhh, I don't know what game you were watching but the Sens lost 2-1. They scored their only goal about half way through the 3rd but the Canucks still won in regulation time...and Luongo was in net.

AHHH SHIT! My bad. I meant to say the game against the Sabres. Thanks for pointing that out.

Having a star player fight his own battles is the dumbest thing a coach could ever do. If I were a GM and my coach had a player like Malkin fight for himself I would probably fire that coach immediately. Malkin's hands are far too valuable and being paid far too much money to ever risk him breaking a finger or a wrist throwing punches with some worthless goon.

That's why enforcers exist. The only thing they can do well is fight. If they could score goals, they wouldn't be an enforcer anymore.

Dopefish Jan 22, 2007 03:07 PM

If you haven't seen these already, you're not missing much anyway. Hockey fans, myself included, were hoping to see all the teams' new jerseys today, but instead just get confirmation that the NHL is using new jerseys. Guess we'll have to wait a little longer to see the new designs.

Dopefish Jan 24, 2007 03:17 PM

Well, the NHL All-Star Game is tonight. No one cares since it is on Versus.

Grundlefield Earth Jan 24, 2007 04:22 PM

I'll just watch a bit on the canadian station since we lucky buffalonians get such stations. Not to mention Versus usually has the most boring announcers on Earth.

I'm watching it on CBC. Living in Michigan has its benefits in that way.

Dopefish Jan 25, 2007 12:00 AM

West beats East 12-9, but Briere gets the MVP. Uhhh.

Little Brenty Brent Brent Jan 25, 2007 12:14 AM

You act like you've never seen a losing team have the game's first star before or something. The man had five points.

Dopefish Jan 25, 2007 01:00 AM

Rolston had a better +/-.

Little Brenty Brent Brent Jan 25, 2007 01:42 AM

Aahaha are you serious? It's an all-star game. The score was 12-9 for Christ's sake. Briere was a point away from tying the all-star game points record, and it was the first time he'd ever appeared in one. He totally deserved it.

Grundlefield Earth Jan 25, 2007 02:11 AM

Awesome Briere. Didn't get to see any of his points though.

I could have sworn Lemieux had a seven point All Star Game.

Dopefish Jan 25, 2007 11:07 AM

Mario had three goals and three assists in the 1990 ASG.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Jan 25, 2007 01:58 PM

Oh. Close enough. :p

Dopefish Jan 30, 2007 10:33 PM

The Bruins STINK. I'm 60 miles away and the only smell coming from Boston metro right now is PUTRID (Celtics, 0-11 last 11 games) and I smell it every time I go outside.

FreeHooker Jan 31, 2007 02:34 PM

Well, with the Canucks surging (11-1-3 in the last 14), needing a trade for offense to make a push for the very tight NW division, and the Bruins in need of a shake-up, may I suggest a very generous trade?

Perhaps Brad Boyes for a couple of our players on the endless list of team pluggers? :p

Umm, pretty please?

Well, Ryan Kesler is out for the season. He had hip surgery (The same surgery Morrison had) and is out 12-16 weeks. 12 weeks brings him back for the playoffs, but he will not be the same for a long, long time. Say all you want about his low production (6G, 10A) but he has been incredible this season. He anchors (Along with Willie Mitchell, also injured) the league's number 1 PK, and is a pain in the ass to play against. His defence is stellar, and he has responded in pressure situations better than some veterans that I have seen. I don't think it is a stretch to say that one day he will be a Selke nominee.

By the way, Boston fans. Marc Savard is dynamite all year until I pick him for for my All-Star break annual pick-up, and then he slumps like hell.

Grundlefield Earth Jan 31, 2007 04:47 PM

Another blowout coming for the bruins tomorrow.

Borg1982 Feb 1, 2007 01:37 AM

What teams are everyones picks for conference champions?

Speculation time!

Dopefish Feb 1, 2007 01:55 AM

Pittsburgh and Minnesota.

Rematch of the 1991-92 Stanley Cup Finals! ONLY WITHOUT MIKE MODANO.

:p

In all seriousness, I say Pittsburgh makes it, provided they pick up a veteran defenseman before the deadline. Preferably a gritty, stay-at-home one. For the sake of not saying Vancouver, the only reason I think Nashville might not make is their young, in-experienced (For the most part) defense. In the West, defense is big time in the playoffs. Although, if Vokoun faulters, Nashville can fall back on Mason. I guess the lack of experience on D is overrided by the best 1-2 goaltending punch in the league.

In the East, it usually comes down to hot goaltending and I could see Fleury being the Ward-esque type guy (Young goalie leads his team to the finals), with the support of Crosby and Malkin on offense, and Recchi's veteran-ship :p

Pittsburgh vs. Nashville.

Crash "Long-Winded Wrong Answer" Landon Feb 1, 2007 03:04 AM

Not even close.

Buffalo vs. Minnesota.

This time, the goal will count.

Wojo Feb 1, 2007 09:53 AM

Dont you mean Dallas crash, and not Minnesota?
