Who even wants Memory Cards? They're silly outdated bullshit, just lug the PS3 around to your mates place.

The only saving grace for Sony to guarantee a pre-order from me is if they promise tremendous improvement of PS1 and PS2 games in terms of graphics (like some sort of AA and up-converting resolution).

That would at least give me something else to fool around with come launch day (because I'm sure as hell not purchasing a ton of 60 dollar games, I'm waiting for them to be on the "used" shelf).

And I HAVE a bigass HDTV set. Even I'M dissapointed in Sony.

Kostaki May 8, 2006 10:59 PM

Haha, I'm not even going to wait until launch day myself. I've built up a good 100 game backlog so that I can sit around and bide my time while the first run bugtastic PS3s come out and rape people of their money. I will laugh merrily at their woes when they bitch about DISC READ ERROR IN HIGH DEFINITION and then two years later get me a decently priced near bug free console and some cheap bargain bin games.

Patience wins again.

I have to agree with you guys, gaming is becoming way too expensive as evidenced by these $400-500 console prices and $60 games.

It's becoming a hobby with budget needs akin to building muscle cars or getting a speed boat for weekend rides down the river.

Buying games like FF13 now is looking about as probable as me going down to a Barret Jackson auction and scooping up a '68 Barracuda.

And uh, we need to coin a fun nickname for the new PS3 controller. Playmote perhaps?

Considering all the commotion simply saying "Wiimote" caused I think its best if we just left the controller's name alone.

How about we go ahead and not.

Metal Sphere May 8, 2006 11:09 PM

Yeah, it's just the Dual Shock with some tilt, no vibration and triggers. The PS3, on the other hand, has earned the name PS3DO over on GAF. Seems like an applicable name, so far at least.

This is true of course, but having an absolute reason to get out there in the middle of the hunt for a launch day console is exciting. Sony has now made this experience dull and pointless.

I kind of like Dual-Shock 3. It's totally a ripoff of the PS1 and PS2 controller names.

I don't even see why all you kids are complaining. Do you really think Sony cares if you think they're ripping off Nintendo? "Oh boy these kids are onto us. We'll have to apologize and redesign the PS3 guys." Furthermore, anyone who is going to buy a PS3 is going to buy one regardless of your meaningless banter. No matter what side it's coming from, it's pretty annoying.

TheReverend May 8, 2006 11:10 PM

I make no qualms about it.... I am a Nintendo fan. Always have been, and if they continue as they have been I will continue to be. I write this to give you frame of reference.

But this isn't about Nintendo, or even Sony... This is about games. I have always wanted to buy a PS2. It's got great games, a huge catalog of em (especially if you count PSX games). I've never bought one though because of two reasons.
1. Too much money
2. Graphics that just didn't justify the cost to me. (not that the graphics are crap, just not quite good enough cause I HATE so much aliasing and poor textures)

But here is the bottom line: Am I willing to pay this much for these games?
The answer is NO. MGS4, FFXIII, and every other third party game will be ported when this thing flops because it is too dang expensive. And I shouldnt say flops because it will have a market.

High-end entertainment center hob-nobs. And how big is that market? It's big but not THAT big. I almost guarentee that this thing will sell out of the 400,000-800,000 or so units coming to the US alone for the fact that it is a Bluray player.

Remember how people are buying the PSP more for the protable screen (video, audio, net, photoviewer, etc.) than for the games? PS3 repeats this idea.

So I won't be buying the PS3. And in fact I have no desire to, unlike with the PS2 at launch.

FUCKING LOL.

And I agree we should just call the PS3 controller the PS3 Controller or Dual Shock 3. No gimmicky name schemes, please.

Kostaki May 8, 2006 11:12 PM

I don't even see why consoles ripping each other off is anything to bitch about anyway, considering each one pretty much steals from the other whenever they feel like it. PS started using Dualshock, and here comes Nintendo 64 with the Rumble Pack, and hay Microsoft releases with two analogs but ELSEWHERE and then the Saturn releases the controller that comes with Nights and has analog and then THEY ALL HAVE L AND R TRIGGERS and OH LOOK FOUR BUTTONS ARGHARGHARGHARGH.

The games and the total price on the consoles will dictate the necessity for the console. No one cares about stolen technology, as long as it's fun.

Kaleb.G May 8, 2006 11:14 PM

How about taking further PS3 discussion to the PS3 thread so my brain doesn't fry.

http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/so...on-thread.html

That's an order.

You can still use this thread for non-PS3 Sony discussion.

Games used to be $70 a piece. Just 10 games and you've just spend $100 than you would buying games at $60. It really hasn't gotten more expensive. The one time cost of hardware is minimal.

Hey, you stole my idea! To the letter. :lolsign:

Sad thing is, late-gen PS2 game releases will still probably be better than anything the PS3 sees for a long time (including a lot of games on the shelf now).

Stealth May 9, 2006 12:04 AM

Uh, most of those games look a lot better than PS2 gen stuff.

Forsakenzoul May 9, 2006 07:42 AM

a little out of topic but oh well didnt want to post this somewhere else....Does anyone have a High-Res vedio file of the whole conference?

I saw someone mention that they were primarily for supporting your old PS2 and PS1 memory cards, which of course would make perfect sense if it were true.

FatsDomino May 9, 2006 10:27 AM

That's not really off-topic. Any information you guys can find about obtaining this conference is completely okay for this thread.

http://www.gamespot.com/e3/e3live.html

They have the show streamable or downloadable with decent quality still. You have to be a subscriber there for high res content. I'm sure it's the same way over at IGN.

If anyone has any torrents feel free to post links.

Rock May 9, 2006 10:39 AM

You have to be registered even for the low res downloads.

Someone upload or torrent their high res version already, please.

Zip May 9, 2006 01:34 PM

if you want the lq version a free registration is enough.

Man, it must be the year of sony hate. Gotta admit though, i'm getting a hell of a lot of laughs from this stuff. :D

Hello_Kitty May 20, 2006 10:38 AM

I might have been impressed by a historical Japan war game if it had been remotely historical and realistic. I guess we'll have to stick to Odama which isn't a total loss.
