If the smoke monster can't leave the Island, then what was up with the scene with Oceanic 6 Jack seeing his dad in some lobby while fixing a smoke alarm?

I think you answered your own question ;)

I poked it and it made a sad sound Apr 21, 2010 12:24 PM

Since Nadia is alive and well in that timeline, I have to wonder if maybe everything that's ever been promised to these characters is in reference to what's been going on in the alterna-timeline. Hmm...

I'm going to go ahead and assume that Nadia from Side Dimension is going to pop through the "magic box" Ben once told Locke about.

I share your sentiments about MIB insulting the real (dead) Locke as being a fool. I wanted to hit him so bad when he said that.

Agree with sentiments about Lapidus yapping during that underwhelming reuniting Jin and Sun, though I couldn't really bring myself to care too much that they were reunited. I knew it would come eventually. If it didn't, I doubt I would have cried about it.

I enjoyed last night's episode. I think I enjoyed it because we saw so many familiar faces having a piece of the pie... Sawyer, Kate, Claire, Jack (!!), Hugo... they all had something to do last night. I was really happy to see Jack play a little bit more in this episode, too. I kinda missed him.

The whole team is (almost) back together. This makes me happy. I just wish Sayid would come back from the dark side.

I'm also loving the fact that I can't see what's going to happen with the clash between the two islands. I find myself rooting for Sawyer, Kate, et al and then I get mad that they may have been tricked.

I was even more upset when I saw Jack jump off the sailboat. :(

Overall, I'm happy with these past few episodes. And I'm hard to please. I think it's because I'm starting to feel like things are coming back together, like they used to be back a few seasons ago.

To be honest, I thought the episodes without the protagonists (especially the one with Richard) were the best.

They stress that the Smoke Monster is stuck on the island and he wants to get off badly, but in that one episode he was already off the island. What gives?

Just got caught up on this last night, expecting a new episode tonight, but alas, no dice. Next week...

In light of this, I bring you the following images:

Bad news:

'Lost' finale could raise more questions - Culture Desk - An Entertainment and cultural blog by The Boston Globe

Quote:

If you're expecting all your questions to be answered when ABC's "Lost" comes to a close next month, you can forget it. It's not going to happen. Series co-creator Damon Lindelof tells The Hollywood Reporter that viewers might be wondering what the heck just happened when it's all over. "We're trying to end 'Lost' in a way that feels 'Lost'-ian and fair and will generate a tremendous amount of theorizing," Lindelof said. "We're going to be as definitive as we can be and say this is our ending, but there's no way to end the show where the fans aren't going to say, 'What did they mean by this?' Which is why we're not going to explain it." Lindelof also revealed an interesting tidbit: An entirely new set was constructed for the final moments of the final episode.

Eh... On one hand, I don't really like how they're coming out and announcing this. David Chase didn't say "don't worry, my finale will be very Sopranos-ish and won't please everybody." I'd prefer if they said nothing at all and let the finale speak for itself, because now I and other people are going to be building up even MORE expectations for it.

On the other hand, now I know I can set my expectations for answers low, which is both disappointing and somewhat exciting. I'm bi-curious about this. Disappointing because, well, it's Lost, and the only thing we want are answers. Exciting because it might be cool to have more to speculate on once the show has finished. It will have to be handled well, though. They can't just end the show on a cliffhanger. Time will tell. Less than a month now, people!

It all makes sense now... I KNEW that Secret Santa gift was a little romantic.

Randi May 2, 2010 09:03 AM

I think the demon escaped through Locke's body during the whole car crash conflict.

That's why Sun was acting like her whiny self when she was being taken into the hospital.

Am I the only person who has never liked Sun?

Wall Feces May 4, 2010 09:23 PM

Ugh. You guys.

Spoiler:
Ugh :(

Dopefish May 4, 2010 09:36 PM

Never ever? Maybe. Her character starting out wasn't the worst. But these past few seasons she's been written everywhere from awful to nonexistent. I would think most people would find the couple superfluous in the past two seasons.

Muzza May 5, 2010 06:43 AM

Oh man very :( episode for anybody who has watched the show from the start in particular. Also very dynamic, one of my favourite episodes. Music was annoying at times though (overused in parts).

Spoiler:
The saddest thing is how insignificant the (surely final) death of Sayid was, comparatively at least. It's like they discarded the entire character just before giving him his final show. Neither of his deaths were as emotional as they should have been.

I really hope we see more badass Locke in the next episode. He's so much cooler when he's being all smokey and deflecting bullets then when he's ":cmb: trust me :cmb:" Seeing him all really "evil" now is awesome.

And is it just me or was that episode a waste in regards to developing/concluding the flash-sideway plot?

I felt the same way, however:

Spoiler:
I think they're at least building towards resolution with it, now. The flash sideways's have had a few beats. The first 2/3 of the season when they felt useless, then the Desmond episode when they clued us in on what's going on, and now this final beat where Jack is going to figure it all out. This would be the first episode with that. It will all be wrapped up soon.

Dopefish May 5, 2010 09:10 AM

Spoiler:
IDDQD Locke is kinda silly.

Also, anyone else realize the finale is on SUNDAY, May 23? They've announced that it will be two-and-a-half hours long now, making the ending at 11:30PM. Which, for a Sunday, is RIDICULOUS.

The unmovable stubborn May 5, 2010 09:32 AM

so they've basically announced in advance that the finale will

A: be ridiculously long

B: not really explain jack shit

This show is about 2 inches away from literally teabagging its audience

Might as well. The show already has its dick in our mouths.

I really do not look forward to the ending.

Me neither. It's like knowing there's going to be a train wreck. You have to watch it, but really, really, really don't want to because you know it's going to be a massacre.

Spoiler:
Anyways, I never really liked Sun and Jin, but I got teary-eyed during that last scene they had.

I was really upset that they didn't give Sayid a little more... um... screen time (?) for his death. I really did like Sayid for most of the show, and I think for everything he's done for the show, he deserved something more than that shit they threw at us, even if it was was his second time dying. The first time was just as stupid as the second time.

I'm still bitter about the whole temple thing, too. Why did they waste their TIME with that shit. Ugh ugh ugh.

Overall though, while this wasn't the *strongest* episode this season, it certainly beats the Dogan bullshit.

For me, it wasn't so much that, but near then end when they were choking up on the beach, and Hurley couldn't hold it in anymore and started to sob. THAT is when it got me.

Also what the hell is this:

YouTube Video

Looks like more filler. And with only two episodes to go?

So I get the impression from that video that the older woman is Kate.

Next week's episode is the big Jacob/MiB origins reveal. I'd hardly call that filler.
