The big part of the update everyone's talking about is that heavy characters don't flinch after certain moves.

Hope that Bowser could be tournament viable has been shot through the roof.

Probably because we've already used Kirby's Up-B and Falcon/Ganondorf's Hold-B.

Dekoa Aug 7, 2007 11:23 AM

Still, the added thing about Ike not flinching after his attack means that he is most likely going to be a more heavy set character and isn't going to be as fast. In fact, it might mean that Ike is out of the speed league and he is in the Power league, that just means he is the fastest strong character.

Today we get "Kid Icarus: The Underworld"....I'm assuming this is the skyworld music. Sounds pretty good!

You can play Kid Icarus on Virtual Console now. Have you tried it? You should really get a hold of this game and just sink your teeth in.

In terms of music, I think the most memorable themes for players were the Grim Reaper theme and the Game Over theme.

For this arrangement, I had these themes incorporated.

You might imagine it to be a bit forced, but I think it sounds quite good.

lol, FALCON PUNCH isn't a hold/charge move.

I think it would be cool if Aether was like Farore's wind in that you can direct where you throw the sword, but still slice horizontally downwards when he catches the sword.

Guess everyone didn't care for today's update:

Pit's Final Smash

Goddess Palutena! I beseech you!

Now that’s what I call a deity. Look how big she is!

Well, I guess technically that’s not her actual size. She just chose to manifest herself as something that big.

Here come the flying Centurions...

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3..._070809c-l.jpg
Now, attack!

They divebomb at incredible speeds!

It’s very difficult to dodge a charge of Centurions, splitting the sky like a storm.

Then again, the Centurions scatter after they clash. They each make one attack and then fall in battle.

Their sacrifices are so...so moving...

Pit's inclusion was crowd-pleasing, but I've been underwhelmed each time some from Kid Icarus popped up. Yesterday's Pit theme was quite poor and his final smash seems similar to the Unown's attack in Melee. The stage was so-so.

Regardless, I'll be reserving judgement until the game comes out (of course).

Dekoa Aug 9, 2007 08:14 AM

I've thought that Pit's attacks are Satisfactory but I can tell you right now that I think his final Smash is less than Bad. Until now the Smash attacks have all been "ZOMG GET AWAY" or "LAWL that's Funny". This just seems like a "Whoopdee flippin doo! Now I'll show you a Final SMash!"

Plankton614 Aug 9, 2007 03:22 PM

Funnily enough, I loved both today and yesterday's respective updates. As soon as I caught a glimpse of Pit's stage, my first desire was to hear its music. I'm a big Kid Icarus fan, so it's been a great week for me. Pit's music is perfect, in my opinion, and I'm also quite excited for his FS. The inclusion of the Centurions was a nice bit of fanservice. =)

Now, bring on what I've really been waiting for: PEACH!

shadowlink56 Aug 9, 2007 08:10 PM

Just seeing these final smashes must have some people building the tiers for SSBB. For example, we already know that Pit>DK. Well, in the final smash department it looks like All>DK.

FRANKLIN BADGE <333333

Most awesome item from Earthbound makes its way into Brawl as a projectile reflect. =o

Metal Sphere Aug 10, 2007 04:41 AM

Whoa, now this is an update. It looks like it's pretty easy to miss in the first place along with it probably being a bit hard to spot while in the fray. Definitely makes firing a shot off a bit riskier.

Though it says it reflects projectiles, I'm wondering if there will be exceptions (my guess is yes).

Sin Ansem Aug 10, 2007 08:01 AM

As someone said in another forum, Samus and other projectile happy characters are screwed if this item comes into play often.

I wonder if Wario sticks it on his ass.

Identity Crisis Aug 10, 2007 06:58 PM

Definitely an awesome Friday update to say the least! I wonder how long the badge lasts and if it's possible to adjust its longevity in multiplayer via an unlockable option or otherwise.

Kanzaki Aug 12, 2007 11:58 PM

It would be great if we could adjust how much it last. I mean, I'm still waiting for an option to select which Pokemon should be summonable in-battle.

Darkshineknight Aug 13, 2007 02:10 AM

WOW

new character: Pokemon trainer!!!! he can use squirtle, ivysaur and charizard to battle for him o__o you can switch inbetween the pokemon

this was totally unexpected but pretty damn cool!!! I wonder what attacks the pokemon will have and how they will play! im definitely liking this.

TOP TEIR ANYONE?

chaofan Aug 13, 2007 03:02 AM

Er... well I suppose it gets rid of the need for Mewtwo and Pichu but IF THEY DO NOT SAVE JIGGLYPUFF I WILL ANGER!!! ARGH!!!

I have no idea about what to say about Pokemon Trainer. So I won't at all!!!

UltimaIchijouji Aug 13, 2007 03:41 AM

Mewtwo is terrible but I wouldn't mind having him back. This Pokemon Trainer character looks pretty bad though. Interesting, unique, and probably long overdue, but bad.

i'm just glad that he doens't do the fighting directly. I kinda like how they did the pokemon he can summon, but honestly, Charizard? Why coudln't we have had something cooler than that :(

then again it's pokemon, where the only cool one is Haunter.

Edit: And CUBONE

Infernal Monkey Aug 13, 2007 03:54 AM

It's pretty neat that they used the generic trainer from the original ORIGINAL 1960's Pokemon game though!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/chara..._070813b-l.jpg
Wait what happens if the ground breaks like in the Zelda stage or whatever? Does he fall to his doom while a giant floating Brock head appears to laugh? I hope so.

Cheezeman3000 Aug 13, 2007 05:39 AM

This is cool and all but does it really make sense? I mean, Pikachu alone vs. a Pokemon Trainer, in the pokemon world, should mean death, right? Obviously it won't in THIS game but, I just don't like it.
However I do think it's an awesome idea. I just wish they'd kick out Pikachu and have this guy be the only pokemon fighter or something.

He's using the starters, since it looks like they used the redesign of Red from FireRed/LeafGreen. I wonder if their reluctance to actually call him Red (as he's known in the games) means we may get the other trainers as alternates or at least a female clone. They could have Red have Blue as a different model (kind of like the Daisy thing Peach had) while the clone would have two different female trainers.

So far it sounds like this guy is 3 characters in one, and I'd have to see it in action (and play it myself) to come to any conclusions.

Wait, what?

Awesome update, tho unconventional characters such as these tend to be the hardest to play as.

immp Aug 13, 2007 07:07 AM

What happens to the trainer when the pokemon is knocked off? Perhaps he shoots himself after seeing his pokemon die for him in battle.

Asuming down B is the pokemon switch command....does every pokemon have their own recovery move, b and forward b move? O.o Thats a lot of moves for one character. Make for some really interesting play styles....I think I might really like this guy.
