There's a thread about the announcement. And yes, Snake is in there.

evergreen May 10, 2006 09:18 PM

No way. Oh wait, let me join in the bold bullshit.

BULL-MUTHAFUCKIN'-SHIT!

Let's see Fox even try to blaster that Snake.

Metroid will also be a launch title.

Ho

SHIT

Can you say, best launch ever?

FatsDomino May 10, 2006 09:45 PM

Solid Snake? That confuses me but whatever. I'm guessing it'll use the traditional controller that is used for the virtual console.

Kostaki May 10, 2006 10:33 PM

I must reiterate it once again, because NINTENDO IS THE CHAMPION AND I APPROVE.

NINTENDO WINS E3.

That is all.

It's no Dreamcast yet. And I thought some source said SSBB wasn't going to be a launch title?

SketchTheArtist May 11, 2006 12:35 AM

It won't be a launch title but Metroid Prime 3 will be.

So right now, you've got Mario Galaxy, Zelda, Red Steel and Metroid Prime 3 confirmed for launch. That's pretty cool in my book.

Sin Ansem May 11, 2006 12:37 AM

I can wait for Smash in 2007. I just needed to know it's in production and it will be awesome. That is all.

Wii = $249?

http://www.4colorrebellion.com/archi...s-new-details/

This article was taken down last night at the request of EGM’s writing staff, but now that the Nintendo conference is over and spoken for, we’re throwing it back up here. For those of you that saw it last night and watched the keynote, take special note of how many of the facts turned out to be true.

Reliable NeoGAF poster koam has apparently grabbed ahold of the latest EGM, which spills the beans on some great Wii details - but this IS the Internet, so as usual, please take the news with a gigantic grain of salt. You know the drill by now. The general recap of the information said, however is:

- $249 Price tag
- Virtual Console (we knew this)
- 3d Controller (we knew this)
- ALWAYS online (console is always online, even when OFF)
- Built in speaker on the controller
- No improved graphics on Virtual Console (as in, they aren’t redoing the models, doesn’t talk about framerates and such).
- TG16 will have it’s 1st party games out at launch, 3rd party will come later as demand increases.
- Estimated prices for the VC are “a few dollars for NES, $5 for SNES and $10 for N64″
- VC games are pro-scan enabled.
- $250 “seems appropriate”
- More 3rd party exclusives than the Cube
I hope it's true!

I was hoping it'd be cheaper. And $10 for N64 game downloads is crap. You can buy the actual games for maybe less than that.

Wall Feces May 11, 2006 12:52 AM

I predicted $249 but was hoping for $200.

Still, $249 is still $150 less than the cheapest competition. You can't argue with that price!

Smash Bros. Want list-

Megaman / Protoman
Megaman X / Zero
Simon Belmont
Bionic Commando Guy (does he have a name?)
Vectorman
Locke (imagine him stealing items from opponents!)

I can't think of any more off the top of my head.

It won't be 249... that's still too much. Don't get me wrong, I will buy a $250 Wii. I will buy it on LAUNCH day. But, for what Nintendo is aiming at here, they desperately need to be charging 200 or less for this system.

Grubdog May 11, 2006 01:20 AM

$249 is actually the price that EGM speculates it will launch at, same with the virtual console games prices. Whether or not they have hidden info that backs up this speculation, is unknown.

There was something cited in the Smash Bros. thread about being able to plug in your Cube controller and play with the same control scheme as Melee actually. That works for me, since Melee had a pretty intuitive setup.

Wait, wait, wait, WHERE was it confirmed that Mario Galaxy's a launch title? If this really is true, then Wii will probebly have the best launch line up ever.

It seems the version on display at E3 has only one small should button instead of two that were shown in the press picture. It is still being decided if it will be packed in like the nunchuck attachment. You can tell that the big button on top is to be pressed to release something that is clipped onto the bottom of the controller. Most likely that'll be the wii controller it's already connected into that'll clip on for extra wii controller functions. That'll be sweet.

I'm dissappointed with seeing one of the small shoulder buttons being removed. They can't do N64 games right if they don't at least have those two extra shoulder buttons on reserve. The second analog control stick as N64 C buttons is a retarded idea and anyone who supports that idea is an idiot. Plus, the Sega games need six face buttons. This isn't hard, Nintendo. This really isn't. Just have six face buttons like the Genesis.

Oh and they better as hell pack this thing with the system and every controller bundle set. Developers might actually come up with creative ideas that might need it and the strapped wii controller in the future. Nintendo, would be alienating developers if every Wii user didn't have one of these for every Wii controller they buy.

I kind of think it'll backfire if they pack this in with the console. It might encourage developers to create games "the old way" as opposed to utilizing the core Wiimote. If it's sold seperately, it'll pretty much be certain that this'll only be used for the Virtual Console while the new Wii games definately strive to keep using creative control schemes with the wiimote. I think having that assurance is worth sacrificing new control schemes that use both the shell and the core wiimote. But meh, we'll see.

FatsDomino May 11, 2006 02:11 AM

Hmmm this is odd.

http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/795...10304229of.jpg

It seems they also have a version of the virtual console controller that appears to be wired from the top and has the two small shoulder buttons. I'm confused.

I think it would be better if it were packed in at least with the console so people can use the Virtual Console right away if they wanted. I think a developer is going to have to think very hard if they want to do a straight boring port. Nintendo consumers are very judgemental and don't like sloppy seconds. Ports didn't do very well when developers gave us crappy multiplatform port jobs so I think that they've learned from GameCube that that strategy won't worky. I still want it packed in with the Wii controller.

Double Post:
Also...

http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/7...10312426ky.jpg

It seems like they're going to be going with the DSlite colors.

Technophile May 11, 2006 02:20 AM

Yeah I see where you're coming from Acer. We'll see. One thing's for certain: Things for Wii are looking A LOT better than they have ever looked for GC developer support wise so far. So I'm not really super, super worried either way regarding the shell.

As for the two different picks...uh, maybe the first one was made way earlier but they still chose to use it? Judging from the background of the two pics, it seems like the first one's merely present for use with the Virtual Cosnole demonstration while the shell in the second pick seems to be the main subject of the display. Thus, suggesting that the second one's probebly what it'll really be like.

-EDIT-

Seems like Mario Galaxy probebly won't be a launch title :( (The face. Click it.)

I don't really mind. I don't want them to bust out all their big, super-giant franchises right away at launch and then have us wait for a long, long time for more sequels. We're already getting freaking Metroid and Zelda. That's enough.

OMG, that blue wiimote is slick! I can only image a Wii in that creamy-blue color!

Simon Belmont May 11, 2006 02:41 AM

God, Im sickened by myself this past generation. I've neglected Nintendo, playing mostly PS2. No more! Nintendo is getting all my money next gen. Wii is so going to bring Nintendo back on top, where they belong! Seriously, Nintendo with out a doubt steals the show at E3. Fuck Sony and their shitty console (that I will still probably buy) made just for graphics. This is why I love Nintendo, their systems are serious fan-service. I am so happy with Nintendo's presence at the show, and all the amazing games coming out.

You know what, I love you so much for what you've done BigN that Im gonna splurge next month and buy a DS Lite. I just bought my original DS a few months ago, but I don't care, to show you my appreciation, Im gonna re buy it.

WTF are you talking about?! XBox 360 costs 299€, 299€! The core pack costs that and it's the pack you should buy, since the Pro pack is filled with useless crap (harddrive is crap until more XBox games are supported). Also both are missing the only important cable, the VGA cable that you should use even if you connect to a HDTV instead of a monitor, provided that the TV supports it. And the pro pack dispite having a wireless pad it doen't include the play'n'charge kit, i.e. a rip off.

With a 249€ price tag that's pretty much suicide.

It's been proved that this design creates less stress on the hands and wrists and it's more confortable on the long game session (YET it can still cause musculoskeletal disorders like carpic tunnel so watch out!).

But who cares about facts, let us hype! Hype I say!
And the worst thing is that everyone seems to appluad for no good reason :aargh: Are you all nuts? Or have you just lost common sense?

EDIT 2: WTF? Take a good look at the above pic... Nintendo is using those stupid triangular screws again!! ARGH! The console is MINE, the pad is MINE! I open it as many times I want and do what da f*ck I want with it, damn it! Maybe they are hidding lame pad internals like Gamecube's? At least the wire 'lock' seems to be using the same cheap trick GC did

EDIT 3: BTW their efforts to keep me away are pathetic, I've shaped a regular screw driver into a 'nintendo screw driver' with my bare hand (and some tools ;)) so more luck next time!

250 US dollars is about 200€ if I know my currency, it's not 250€. I also have no idea what you are rambling on about here either.

David Deluxe May 11, 2006 07:51 AM

Well, actually they don't really care about converting the price from $ to € in Europe. $399/$499 for the Xbox 360 just became 399€/499€ over here and this should apply to nearly every console which was released during the last years.

Exactly!! It's the biggest rip off ever... well amost but still. INFACT when they say a price in US dolars most of the times the price over here it's higher!!!

For example:
Tomb Raider Legend for XBox 360

USA: $59
Europe: 69€

... WTF is all I can say :(
