I think everyone here's been killed at least once by instant death skills.

It also doesn't help if you've been playing for a length of time and haven't saved.

Chaotic Oct 29, 2007 02:26 AM

What's worse is using those instant death skills on enemies, only to have it reflected back at you and ultimately killing you.

I'm sure you people have had one of these moments too.

Well, that's why you have the Lucifer + Satan fusion handy whenever you get into a situation like that ^^

Xellos Oct 29, 2007 11:38 AM

Well, equiping a persona that resists them is a solution, but meh, I don't think that would work for me, chances are very slim they would have the right spell that breaks them, so I would end up not using them. Escaping won't always be a option either, sometimes you just have to fight them, in this case it was a mob that I needed to kill to complete a Elizabeth request.

The complaint is more aimed towards the main character dies -> game over part. It's just annoying. It always seems to happen too, when you are just too slow to prevent a ambush.

Clamjouster Oct 29, 2007 11:46 AM

there are persona that can null or reflect both light and dark skills, you can basically make a thanatos capable of this since mot can learn null light and then transfer it to alice and finally make a thanatos, but the best way to solve is just to pack a ton of hommunculus and hope they don't get lucky on your party since that's basically the issue with those spells.

Trance Machina Oct 29, 2007 11:56 AM

Horus is a god send (when you can make it) since it naturally nulls light and will naturally learn repel dark. When you are the right level and maxed out Sun, then definitely make a Horus. A plus is that it doesn't have any elemental weaknesses.

I <3 my multi-dyne Horus (took forever).

Dr. Uzuki Oct 29, 2007 04:39 PM

I'm pretty sure by the end of the game, about half my banked personas and the ones I used most often were resistant to both light and dark elements. Thing is though that before you reach that stage of the game, it's only usual to find a hama strong or a mudo strong enemy. I found that, by the time you hit block three, you'll be dealing with mudo constantly, but block 4 switches that to hama almost exclusively, and then back to dark intensive in block five. Honestly, an enemy made me much more weary to see a skill like deathbound or arrow rain on them. Because while there's a few measures of back up against instant death, endure is the only shot you have out of getting simply beat down with high damage.

Xellos Oct 31, 2007 10:46 AM

I used Lillith a lot, she was basically my main persona, since she had mabufudyne, magurudyne and maziodyne, (man I miss the old Ice 3 days =x ) and also that allmighty damage one, who's name I can't remember. I believe she was also resistant to both light and dark, so I liked that one. I didn't really bother making overpowered personas that much.

Finally beat the game yesterday. My party may have been a bit underleveled. Main character was 71, and the others around 68. I really wouldn't call the final boss "fun" like the others. Moonless Gown just drove me insane. I was lucky to get 1 attack in before it went up again. Heh...I think the whole fight took like 45 minutes to beat, if not longer.

Overal pleased with the game, but there were a few minor things that annoyed me, the AI was one thing that annoyed me. I wanted to have Yukari as main healer, but I usually had to do it, since she really couldn't make good decisions when it came to healing. Like, the whole group was on 30% and she ended up healing just herself, instead of using media type spells.

I wasn't able to finish all the social links, but I think its safe to say hardly anyone does, unless you follow a guide or something. Just too bad I wasn't able to get Yukari's done. I was at level 9, just 1 day short.

Trance Machina Oct 31, 2007 11:11 AM

Yeah, during the last month I plan on working on the ones that are five or higher (there's about 3 or 4) that way I don't end up getting to a level 9 S.Link only to have no way to increase it. That would suck.

I'm totally a victim of rushing though. I'm trying hard not to get to the top of Tartarus too fast (I'm about 3 bosses away from the top on on the first week of Jan). Is it just me or are the bosses getting easier? :3:

To be safe, 6th block boss name:
Except the World of Balance. That shit was insane, had to level up Koromaru to replace Aigis because of his damn Ziodyne -> Megidolaon. Talk about near death, I am so glad I had Mediarahan for when Yukari was down.

this requires spoilers I guess so yeah

Spoiler:
just get enough levels to use mix raid armaggeddon on him, satan+lucifer he dies in one turn, you win simple as that.

rpgcrazied Oct 31, 2007 12:09 PM

oh man.

boss on floor 110th

Spoiler:
him charming everyone in one move sucks, and that wind attack pretty much kills everyone in 1 hit lol. any cheap tatics for him?

Xellos Oct 31, 2007 12:28 PM

Charm gets even worse when it's Yukari that gets charmed and uses Diarahan on a boss, fully healing it. It scared the crap out of me when that happend at the last boss, but thank god she didn't do it that time.

Didn't really have problems with any of the Tartarus bosses, except for the very last one, and then only becauce pierce was the only way to go, I for one didn't bother using Aigis or ken, so I couldn't use any other pierce characters other then Yukari, and she was maining just healing, so I ended up just using a persona that had fire break, so main character and Junpei could use Agidyne on him.

rpgcrazied Oct 31, 2007 09:45 PM

ugh, floor 122th

Spoiler:
3 arcane turrents! plus they hit kinda hard lol. Im using ice.. maybe i need to lvl more

eriol33 Nov 1, 2007 11:02 AM

ah I missed a lot good discussion here seemingly. I just recently finished Persona 3 and want to play again, but before that I want someone to confirm me whether it's possible to maximize all commu in one play or not. I only managed to maximize 4 commu during my last play, >_>

Xellos Nov 1, 2007 03:19 PM

Lol, only 4? Is that including the 3 that are automatically maxed?

Out of the 20 I was able to max 14, Lovers (Yukari) was at 9/10. The others I never really bothered with. Priestess 1/10(Fuuka), Justice 6/10(chihori), Moon 5/10(Nozomi), Fortune 2/10(Keisuke) and Temperance 0/10 (some french guy)

I was curious so I checked on GameFAQs, and it is apparently possible to max all of them on your first run, but it literally means you have make 0 mistakes on the responses, and have to accept certain invites on sundays, make sure you always do a kareoke/cafe at evenings to max charm/courage, and time everything so you don't end up having nobody to do events with on vacations. Even if you do all this you will max the last one on the very last day, so that shows how close it is.

122 floor boss:
If you are getting owned by their attacks, then sometimes it's NOT a good idea to All-Out attack at every possible time. Try knocking them down with the main character, but don't all out attack. If Mitsuru goes last or after them, then just use her to all-out attack. It's pretty simple and if you're other party members don't interfere then the enemy won't even attack.

Either that or you get Yukari up to 45 (or what level) so she learns Mediarama. By that level you should be able to own the turrets and the next boss XD.

Also, doesn't it make it easier to max everything out on the second playthrough? Because you don't have to worry about maxing all your stats, so you can get right onto maxing out S.Links. >_> (still would cut it really close though).

eriol33 Nov 1, 2007 09:58 PM

@xellos
oh no, I only managed to max out Justice, Tower, Temperance, and Star. I realized that after kyoto trip that I forgot to manage my social links. It's amusing when I found out my social links suddenly reversed because I refuse too much invitation on sunday.

Chaotic Nov 2, 2007 12:14 AM

A reversal only happened once with me for the Strength Arcana.... I managed to max out the Hierophant, Magician, and Chariot...

Fool doesn't count since that happens automaticaly.

Xellos Nov 2, 2007 11:00 AM

I declined 90% of the sunday invites, it's not that, it's only bad when you make a appointment with someone, and then later cancel that to make a appointment with someone else, they'll get all pissed off about that.

I had 3 reverses happen, 1 one because I dated 2 girls at the same time, and the other 2 were just because I ignored them for over 2 months.

I think my biggest mistake was spending too much time with non-school friends the first few months. I honestly didn't expect the game to have 4 exams and shitloads of vacations where I couldn't visit any of my school friends. I must have wasted at least 30 days in the last few months just skipping the entire day, because all the non-school friends were maxed, and there was no school on those days, so nothing else to do.

If I ever do play it again, i'll be sure to go with school friends first, since the non ones you can pretty much talk to whenever you want anyway, I don't even think most of them have days where they are not there, except maybe sunday.

I never actually bothered trying to get a reverse err reversed. How long does it take for them to not be pissed off anymore?

Trance Machina Nov 2, 2007 11:28 AM

Same with me. I didn't know you couldn't see your school friends on vactions or exams so I just messed around. Same with my stats, didn't max them out until September when I started getting seriously. Of course, my S.Links have suffered. I only maxed out Justice, Star, Sun, Hanged Man, Magician, and Emporer. And I'm almost done with the game. :/ Almost everyone else is reversed because I ditched them to see Akinari on Sundays and there are about 5-6 S.Links reversed because of this XD.

It seems to vary by offense. I reversed Chariot once by cancelling on Kaz for Yuko, and it took him several days of talking to him (didn't use up any time though) for him to forgive me. On the other hand, when Yukari's social rank got high enough for her to care about Justice Girl she confronted me about it the first time I talked to her.

I've got several social links reversed now due to not talking to them in ages, haha. I'm hoping to max out a couple more with the little time I've got left. Off the top of my head, I've already maxed Tower, Heirophant, Strength, Hanged Man, and Chariot. Maybe one other. I'm pretty close on Lovers, Sun, and Hermit. There's really no excuse to not have Tower maxed out since there isn't anything else to do at night once your attributes are at full.

Does anyone else hate the loading times? of course, they are not that long.. but they are everywhere.

In the beginning they are bothersome (LOAD FASTER I AM ALMOST OUT OF TIME!!!) but I didn't really notice it as much about 3/4 through the game. It's just annoying to wait seconds just for the menu to load up.

EDIT: Sigh, I'm stuck on the 228th floor boss. Only because of it using a SUPER CHEAP version of Life/Spirit Drain. Life Drain takes up a fucking 200hp from you while the latter takes 120sp. DO NOT WANT 3X ON YUKARI GOD DAMNIT
