I think I called Ike either in an earlier page, but yeah he seems like a great addition to the cast. My theory suggests that Ike, being the most recent Fire Emblem character, is going to replace Roy from SSBM, whereas Marth will most likely be replaced by a NES/SNES Fire Emblem lead. Good theory?

As for the stage, I wonder what the underground level is? I wonder if it'll cycle itself, or just stay underground after the sequence finishes...

I'm hoping for another cool announcement but then again, getting info on a new character is a lot already.

Dopefish Aug 2, 2007 10:38 AM

It seems pretty clear to me that Nintendo wants to lengthen "brawls" to beyond the average "melee." Either that, or keep the background action going fairly regularly.

Cheezeman3000 Aug 2, 2007 06:42 PM

Ok, this new stage and new character are getting me really freakin' excited. And I'm pretty sure Ike will be replacing both Fire Emblem characters, seeing as they wanted to slim down the roster a bit.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Aug 2, 2007 07:06 PM

My bet is that Ike is a default character that's used to unlock Marth. Roy will be a no-show.

If this thread turns into a giant "I called it" fest, I'm outta here. Who gives a flying rat's ass who "called" it?! Sakurai revealed and developed it!

An interesting game mode which seems to replace the story mode. The video isn't really loading at all, but I'll re-host it ASAP.

The Plane Is A Tiger Aug 3, 2007 02:22 AM

Why would you say that it's replacing Story Mode? Melee had a seperate Adventure Mode too; it just lacked a story to go with the levels.

Oh, and I love the Fire Emblem level. I'm a little disappointed that they didn't make it a long castle roof like the Zelda level in the original Smash Bros., but the scene changes will be interesting to deal with.

chaofan Aug 3, 2007 02:30 AM

Did the new update just confirm the existence of Ridley and Peach? Elsewhere, there's rumors that a certain Nintendo producer accidentally confirming two more characters (for those that don't mind spoilers, check gonintendo.com)!

This new adventure mode looks sweet as. A mode that :

Holy crap.

Edit: Oh wait, the "Ridley" I was talking about seems like a flying ship instead. Uh well.
Triple Post: shadowlink56, sorry ^_^!
Quaddie: Is that Palutena (Kid Icarus)???

Congle line of abuse. Or is that conga-line. Or congaline. Aug 3, 2007 05:53 AM

Chaofan... what two characters slipped through the cracks?

chaofan Aug 3, 2007 08:09 AM

Apparently

Spoiler:
http://gonintendo.com/?p=22340#comments... Sheik and Ganondorf?

Of course, although these people may have been mentioned, they might just end up Assist Trophies or something. Take with a grain of salt.

FatsDomino Aug 3, 2007 08:46 AM

He said they have submitted designs and tweaked designs for those characters. That doesn't mean they'll be in the game and is not a confirmation.

Dekoa Aug 3, 2007 10:10 AM

Still, I think it is a great possibility that Shiek will be in the game because of Princess Zelda. The movie did show Princess Peach and Zelda trying to come to the rescue of Mario and Kirby. It also showed Zelda using Farore's Wind to get there faster. I would think they would keep Zelda's moveset.

Roy's strength was nice, but Marth's speed was a better asset. All but one of the top tier characters (Fox, Falco, Sheik) were fast. Only Peach was a bit slow.

Yes, but her changing into Sheik is confounded by the fact that she is Twilight Princess Zelda and not Ocarina of Time Zelda. OoT Zelda was Sheik. Although it was never stated in Twilight Princess if Zelda could or couldn't transform into Sheik it doesn't mean it couldn't happen considering Smash Bros doesn't have to stay strict to canon. I'd actually love to see what the designers for Twilight Princess could whip up for their rendition of Sheik.

Dopefish Aug 3, 2007 10:43 AM

The new single-player mode looks exciting. I wonder if they'll have you complete it multiple times, like Story mode from SSBM, and give you trophies and such. More or less killed my thinking that the screenshots we had seen were from the intro video.

(Did someone say Heartless? Hmm...)

Cheezeman3000 Aug 3, 2007 03:35 PM

In one of the screenshots you can see someone battling the hammer bro., so I think you may have to defeat the assist trophies before you get them?
Either way, Princess Zelda looks completely badass in that video... :)

Right, but in SSBM in adventure mode you fought a bunch of weird things like goombas and flying koopas.

Dekoa Aug 5, 2007 11:41 AM

Don't forget that at one point you fight the Fighting Polygons as well. Well maybe this time they are making These weird characters the Fighting Polygons. It would make sense.

Dopefish Aug 6, 2007 01:23 PM

I guess no one cares about the Smoke Ball.

xiaowei Aug 6, 2007 01:57 PM

My first thought was "Okay." I guess there's nothing else to discuss about it. Except, where is it from?

Wall Feces Aug 6, 2007 04:45 PM

I dig it. Distraction devices are always fun. I wonder if the color of the smoke will change based on what characters are nearby to better cloak them?

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Aug 6, 2007 04:58 PM

I knew Monday's update wouldn't be able to follow the Emissary's act, but I was hoping for something a bit more interesting. Ike's Final Smash or some such.

The_Griffin Aug 7, 2007 04:55 AM

I like how today's update are two of Ike's special moves yet nobody cares.

Sakabadger Aug 7, 2007 05:23 AM

Special moves are the the least interesting update to me (but more interesting than most items). I'd prefer stages or characters (or music) but of course we can't have too many of those.

Well, at least now we know he doesn't use Marth/Roy's moves, or at least not all of them. It does seem like his Up B is FE Mercenaries' critical attack, or at least the North American GBA FEs. Neat.
