I have questions for Pixie:

-Do you play the Ace Combat games? If so, how did you like Zero? If not, then why not?

-What else have you been in?

-Where did you film the scenes for Zero at?

-What did you think about your character trying to blow up the world?

-How did Namco go about finding people to act in Zero? Did they put up a big "Help Wanted" sign, or did they actively contact people they wanted?

-Would you return for another game if you were asked?

-Yo buddy, still alive?

I am interested in this very much, because for some reason, I think the English voice acting is a lot better then typical anime dub in this game. It is also much better then some of the other games, I mean, at least you don't get people who have difficulty vocalizing, like Yuna from FFX.

Karasu May 8, 2006 12:46 AM

Maybe with Namco...they were just looking for normal, nothing over the top, type of vocals...whereas with Square, they want to try and 'outdo' themselves, or something. Who knows what's with them, all I know I would have preferred an english/japanese vocal choice like in Ace Combat. There, I said it.

Thanatos May 8, 2006 03:27 AM

Yeah. I'm really surprised by the quality of voice acting, especially since Ace Combat 3, where the mission briefing was of a standard I didn't expect.

Shonos May 8, 2006 09:45 PM

I realize this isn't exactly ontopic but after seeing the Wii like sensor in the new PS3 controller I realized something. I posted something like this in the PS3 thread too.

Do you guys think Namco would try using this in Ace Combat 6 if it were to come out for the PS3?

I mean, imagine trying to fly through a tiny tunnel and dodging missiles and planes by twisting the controler around. >_>

Stealth May 8, 2006 10:41 PM

As long as I can still use my flight stick in AC6, I won't care.

Tails May 8, 2006 10:43 PM

Yeah, the idea sounds nifty, but I <3 my flight stick.

Karasu May 8, 2006 11:45 PM

To be honest, I don't have the flight stick...however i'd love to see how it plays on an Ace Combat game. I'm curious, how do you yaw with it? I use yawing a lot, so i'm curious as to how it's done with the stick.

Tails May 8, 2006 11:48 PM

There's a yaw control on the far side of the throttle. It works pretty well, for the most part.

Shonos May 8, 2006 11:53 PM

This is even more offtopic, I know. But I just have to comment on how much seeing these emblems and avatars right after another in this AC thread makes me weep with joy. :'D

Edit: I must be missing things.. there's a stick for Ace Combat? Does it work with all of them? Can you use any PC flight stick or does it have to be made for the game? >.>

It would be wonderful if I could use my PC stick for AC.

Tails May 9, 2006 12:01 AM

AC5 was sold with a Hori Flightstick 2 bundle, there's a review on IGN here.

It works with 4, 5, and Zero, so if you can grab one off eBay or wherever I'd definitely reccomend it.

Stealth May 9, 2006 12:10 AM

Plus there are drivers for it to work with the PC.

Shonos May 9, 2006 12:13 AM

Oh man that thing looks sexy. I checked Ebay real quick and there was one for $200. I need to save up. ._.

They should sell that stuff over here. I'm sure alot of people would eat it up.

Taco May 15, 2006 03:47 PM

I rented AC0 (in lieu of having funds to buy it) and I'm muchly impressed.

Spoiler:
I'm enjoying how the beginning of the game isn't a huge "O SHIT WE'RE GETTING OUR ASSES KICKED"-fest like most of AC5.

And as far as voices go, I've always been impressed by what I've played of the Ace Combat series. The music is a given, too.

Megalith May 15, 2006 05:08 PM

Is it just me, or does the US version sound even better than the Jap version. I think the audio might have been compressed in the rip.

IdleChill May 16, 2006 04:18 PM

So, I like how I bought Ace Combat Zero today. It only cost me 20 bucks, too. Playing myself in the game seems fun. =p

Too bad I have to go to work now and I'm only on the third mission. How much do these flight sticks cost? I wouldn't mind looking into one. =0

I noticed this as well. It would even make sense since the Jap version has dual language and the US version pretty much fills up the whole disc. Eitherway, the sound is AC0 is ridiculous. Is there any videogame that even comes close?

I believe it costed $200 bundles with AC5. Seems to go for around $150 on eBay.

Just beat the game for the third time and unlocked the Faulken and Morgan. Loved the Faulken in AC5, but its not as good as the Morgan this time around. Love those burst missles. You can take out a huge area of enemies in one shot.

Question: How do I get the Faulken and Morgan Special colors? If anyone has screen shots of them post them please. I want to see if they are worth unlocking or not.

I'm pretty much done with the game now. Nothing left to do. Only thing I haven't unlocked is The Gauntlet. Maybe in a month or so I will come back and finish off the loose ends.

Overall, I didn't like this one as much as AC5. It is much shorter and not quite as epic as the previous. Also, there were not enough new improvements to the gameplay. I did like that my wingmates weren't completly useless this time. They actually shoot down enemies and follow your orders quite well. Music is great as usual. Love the Zero theme song.

Come on, why are you lying to yourself. That addition was all that mattered. It's pretty hard to improve upon something that's damn near perfect. The fact that the enemies were actually a challenge this time around rather than them all being cannon fodder and that your wingman actually helped keep you alive in tough spots is improvement enough for me.

Shit, sometimes I just tail Pixy and watch him shoot down enemies just to stare in amazement that my partner DOES stuff.

They used to be $130, retail.

Megalith May 16, 2006 07:28 PM

It was a mistake to unlock the X-02 so early in the game. The game is easy enough as it is, and can be beaten using only the Tiger.

I loved those improvements. It's just that the game didn't have much else. I see those improvements as minor steps up the ladder and am very glad that they were added.

There is still much to be improved though. Improvements such as a checkpoint system so that when you die in a mission and your half way through it you don't have to restart from the beginning. Another improvement would have been in the multiplayer department. Why is there no online play? That is inacceptable for games being released nowadays. Especially one such as this where it is a no-brainer. I was also expecting less repetative gameplay. AC is one of my favorite series, but even I get bored doing the same things over and over. It feels like I've played the same missions for three games straight. These are all improvements that need to be made in the next generation of AC.

Megalith May 16, 2006 07:39 PM

They should even allow you to save in mid-flight.

I would have loved to see Online, but coming so close to the PS3s introduction and with Sonys admitedly weak online network structure at the moment, I'd rather they waited until AC6 to give us online, at least then we'd get a product system that isn't completely halfassed and they'd really be able to do something with it.

Yeah, a quick save option would be great. Play a mission for a bit then just save it and come back to the same place later on.

Double Post:
Btw, where did all of you get those awesome avatars and sigs? Where can I get me one?
