A local game store got a shipment of US DS games, including Elite Beat Agents, Tenchu, Touch Detectives, Contact and a few others. I couldn't help but go get Contact. Hotness!

Well, I finally caved in and bought a (black) DS Lite on Sunday, and I can definitely say that I don't regret it. Everything about it better than the original, especially the screen brightness and the bigger default stylus. The only downside is that GBA games stick out of the GBA slot, but it's not really that bad (I still have my original DS and a GBA SP if I still want to play a GBA game without it sticking out, even though it's not that important an isue).

And today, I bought Children of Mana, Yoshi's Island DS, and Space Invaders Revolution at Circuit City. I only bought Children of Mana there because I didn't want to get it at Gamestop for $5 more. I bought Yoshi's Island 2 there because it came with a free DS Lite Yoshi Sleeve Kit. And I never planned on buying Space Invaders, but I saw it there for cheap, so I just went ahead and got it.

I recently bought Shadow of the Colossus for my PS2, and I am planning on picking up Final Fantasy III DS tomorrow at around noon with free.user. I also downloaded Final Fantasy V the other day to put onto my GBA flash cart. I probably would have bought more games (like Children of Mana) but I am making sure I don't go to overboard since I still have to buy a Wii.

Chaotic Nov 15, 2006 04:30 PM

Just got Final Fantasy III. So far i'm loving it. And that cutscene they had in the commercial is no lie. They actually smacked that into the game intro. Even on the DS it still looks amazing. Only think i'm upset about is there no ATB system, but that's something small to look over. Otherwise, i'll probably be spending long nights with this game.

nazpyro Nov 15, 2006 09:33 PM

So... it's been a few weeks since I got a DS games. ONLY a few weeks. This is bad. I got the necessary DS November games:

Elite Beat Agents ~ Totally cised for this. Osu! Ouedan! Tatakae! was one of my first favorite DS games, but I got through it fairly quickly. It was also the last music/rhythm game I played.
Yoshi's Island DS ~ Of course. I'm not playing it for a while though. I just got the original Yoshi's Island for GBA last week and I'm still making my way through that first.
Final Fantasy III ~ I had reserved this, so I went ahead and picked this up. Something tells me this will get much more PT than Final Fantasy XII. :/

Oh, so people are camping out for the PS3 already. :p I got to play some NBA Live 07 on it. FUCKING AWESOME. Too bad I like the 2K7 series better.

So, why this is bad: I basically have this huge stack (def: data structure-style), starting way back with Super Mario 64 DS. Some games later, and it finally got to Metroid Prime: Hunters. That got interrupted by Magnetica, which got pushed by Deep Labyrinth, then Cooking Mama, then Contact, and most recently Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Now... there's no way I'm gonna stop playing Phoenix Wright, but I most definitely think Final Fantasy III and Elite Beat Agents get priority now. :p Video gaming (and TV/animu): my new homework....

Chaotic Nov 19, 2006 06:45 PM

And I thought I had problems on gaming priority... My situation is:

I've been meaning to play Final Fantasy XII for sometime now, but everytime I get the chance to play that, it's been inturrupted by my NBA 2K7 time. Now that i've cooled down on 2K7, i've been side tracked again from getting Elite Beat Agents. Figuring that I won't be beating Hard Rock Mode anytime soon, I put off sometime to play FFXII, but then THAT was side tracked by Yakuza. After settling that down, I ended up getting FFIII and Madden 07. Wanting the milk the best out of both games, i've shrugged off FFXII even more. On top of trying to make time for that, I still need to make time for Children of Mana.

T_T

Anyway, on topic... Madden 07 for the PS2. I've been meaning to get it for a while. I finally got the chance after changing $50 worth of change into cold hard cash.

Caved in too and bought God Hand. Seriously, it looks like a lot of fun but I need to master the combos, the button execution in this game (as my current skill is not yet honed).

JasonTerminator Nov 20, 2006 02:02 AM

Bought Sneak King. Hot damn, the game is awesome! The novelty of sneaking up on people and giving them burgers is pure design genius!

I think I'm going insane. I thought I posted this already...

Got Grandia III. I can't remember if it was this game that people really disliked, but whoever said that should be flayed alive and eaten by overweight wolves. Seriously, this is one of the best games i've played in a while. I almost don't want FFXII for christmas now, because i'll be playing Grandia (this is a lie. I desperatly want FFXII, cause i will want to play that one too. I'm just saying that for effect). Go Grandia!

Totally forgot about this thread. I'm playing through Tales of the Abyss right now.

xman25 Nov 23, 2006 02:09 AM

I got Doom and Contra for XBOX Live arcade. Both are fun to play. I wish Contra was the NES version, but the arcade version is still good.

Elixir, great games, except FM4, which I hated.

Last game I bought was Final Fnatasy XII. Its probably the best RPG I've played on the PS2 so far, but then again I still have those Grandia to try. Now I'm wondering if I should get Grandia III, Xtreme or Tales of the Abyss first. :( And I seriously need to finish Suikoden III, but I find it rather boring so far.

Well I can't complain for $10 bucks brand new.

I remember playing the game years ago, and it's pretty long. I'll leave it to last since it's so time consuming. Plus I'm a huge mecha nerd.

I think Grandia Xtreme might be the game that a lot of people really disliked -- Grandia 3 was met with decent approval. One of the mods here really likes Grandia Xtreme though, just can't remember which one.

Recent purchase for me? The PlayStation 3 would be the largest purchase thus far. I'll be receiving free copies of Resistance: Fall of Man and Genji: Days of the Blade here shortly. I also picked up a free demo of Rogue Galaxy and my boss gave me Killzone: Liberation for the PSP.

Haven't really purchased much of anything, per se`, though I do plan to buy the Memory Card adapter for the PS3.

It's no FM3, but it's fun, and pretty difficult at times. To be honest, I don't understand the hate for this one. Unless poor voice acting is THAT big a deal, I guess.

So how's Staffi 4, Lix? Worth getting?

Elixir Nov 23, 2006 05:46 PM

It's a fucking steal from play-asia because it's on special.

It's your basic 2D platformer, but in the DS version they've added 3D-on-2D levels. All the characters and enemies are still in 2D, though. Theres minigames during the different stages as well, which is nice. But I was told it wasn't a very long game. :(

I'm enjoying it (maybe not as much as Contact) but I've played Stafi 2 and 3 on GBA so I knew what I was getting into. You can also play as the female starfish (I can't think of her name) but she feels a little clunky. You don't really need to understand the story in order to play it at all, since it's all "I have a problem help me find this item" situations.

It's quite easy. The puzzles aren't all that hard, since most of them just require you to push blocks to get items, spin dash at certain things in a set order. What I don't like is that as soon as you leave an area, all enemies will reappear there. It's like you didn't even do anything.

I haven't played through that much of the game but it seems pretty worthwhile. There isn't a large amount of japanese DS games which are easily playable for non-japanese speakers. Stafi 4 is mainstream in japan, and they should just bring him out in english (it's basically a kirby with pointy edges).

But yeah, for the price at play-asia I couldn't complain. I think Contact > Stafi =/= Touch Detective > Children of Mana in terms of the DS games I've purchased.

Domino Nov 24, 2006 12:08 PM

Nothing too special, but it is my first game purchase in a while. I bought Medieval 2: Total War. I managed to get my hands on the demo the other night and had fun with it so I decided that I should get the full game, and if it's as good as, or better than the Rome incarnations then it should a game that I really enjoy.

Chaotic Nov 24, 2006 01:44 PM

Hurray for 2 for 1 used deals! Managed to get some at my local Gamestop.

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja (PS2) - Played this prior to purchasing it. From the times I have played it, I had fun playing it. Better than the crap button masher on the Gamecube.

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey (XBOX) - An interesting game in my mind. My friend has this and I wanted to get it for myself.

Doom 3: Collector's Edition (XBOX) - Just heard it was good. This was my free game and there was nothing worth it on the PS2, so I figured to go with this.

ApOcaLyPSe_1985 Nov 24, 2006 02:33 PM

Gears of War and am loving every second of it. I also bought Animal Crossing which I never played before.
It's sweet :)

Besides finally softmodding my Xbox, I've done some shopping lately.

http://staff.gamingforce.com/qwarky/IMG451.jpg

I bought Dreamfall, Panzer Dragoon Orta and Halo 2 CE for Xbox, as well as ordered Final Fantasy XII from dvdboxoffice.com. I figured I'm not up to waiting for the PAL release that's coming like 2009, and I'm not about to put up with the typically terrible PAL conversion Square tends to do, so the second I found out dvdboxoffice uses Verified by Visa, I placed my order (along with an order for Summon Night 1, but that's out of stock, probably permanently ;_;).

It finally arrived on Friday, along with something else I'd won at a finnish internet auction. Yes, that black box there is a modded Saturn, I finally have one. Now I have three Saturns in total :tpg:

Came with an Action Replay cart, two original controllers (finally none of that spoon shit) and the seller said he'd include "a few" copied games for testing purposes. Well, in the package was this ridiculously huge CD wallet with probably a good 30 games, including Radiant Silvergun, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Dragon Force and Burning Rangers, among others.

sup ronz~

Sousuke Nov 25, 2006 08:24 AM

Whoa, wait, there's a Limited Edition of Wind Waker? XD I had no idea. What's so special about it?

I also followed the masses and picked up my Wii and Twilight Princess last weekend. I'm totally loving it.

Elixir Nov 25, 2006 08:42 AM

It includes Ocarina of Time, as well as Master's Quest, which is basically a remixed version of OOT.

It's pretty good.

speculative Nov 25, 2006 09:56 AM

On BF yesterday I picked up a Wii, one extra Wii-mote, Zelda TP, and Excite Truck. Tried out Excite Truck and Wii Sports and I'm lovin' the Wii. I played Zelda late at night last night after we did a bunch of family stuff, and while I'm sure I will be able to get into it when I have more time to sit down with it, Excite Truck was more immediately... "exciting." :D

Oh, nice. I think I'd just pick it up for the sake of having a 'Limited Edition' though, if I saw it... Mainly because I already have another 'Collector's Disc' with OoT and Master Quest on it, heh.

It's not a very Limited Edition though, it's just the original European release of Wind Waker. Everyone was told there would later be a "normal" release of it, but that only surfaced very close to when the Player's Choice rerelease came around.
