You do realize the FF4 game he's talking about isn't a direct port. They're actually making changes and redoing quite a bit of graphics and everything.

Why the hell are we even arguing over games that you could have been emulating on your PC for the past ten years, anyway?

Sepharite Aug 31, 2007 11:17 AM

I believe Darkmage is talking about the FF ports on the Gameboy, but there are slight enhancements. But you're right, I practically have the entire VC list on my PSP >_>

RacinReaver Aug 31, 2007 11:53 AM

At least those FF ports were better than the one on the PSX.

I'm pretty sure someone wrote about it in this thread. Go look back if you need to know.

I guess I just thought that you MIGHT remember what system it was for so that I could find the game myself. Searching every post would be like searching for a needle in a haystack. I'll try though...

The only posts that referenced PAL prior to this conversation (and Rock's complaining about PAL releases not having whatever junk fixed).

So question: is there an official release schedule or are those ones in green in post #1 that haven't come out yet wishful thinking?

Yeah they're remaking it, very soon after just porting it to the GBA and having ported it to the PS1 before that. My point is they're avoiding releasing games on the VC solely because of the fact that they MIGHT remake them, regardless of whether they currently have plans to or not. I only use PC emulation as a last resort, I want to play games on my TV. I want Dragon Warrior 1-4 and Secret of Mana on VC but Square Enix probably won't put them on there because they're not a virtual unknown like Actraiser.

SNK announced their first Wii VC games.

Sept 11, 2007 - Garou Densetsu (Fatal Fury)
* Sept 2007 - World Heroes
* Sept 2007 - Magician Lord

Has anyone tried magician lord in their early lifetime? I know for sure that I ain't buying World Heroes but Garou Densetsu is a maybe. We'll see.

If you've ever wondered what "MAX 330 MEGA - PRO GEAR SPEC" means, the "330" means 330 megabites, which translates to 41 mb. So no, they're really not that huge. Metal Slug 1 is only 12 mb for example.

I haven't updated that post since March due to extreme laziness, and also because most people are way ahead of me on the VC games list. For that I apologize.

Think I should update it?

FatsDomino Sep 1, 2007 09:53 AM

Well looks like Sin & Punishment will be coming out for VC in Japan. The game had cutscenes in English. If they'd just translate the menus it could come over here. I really hope they put forth the tiny effort to finally get this game officially in the US.

Translate it for the US market? Yeah, that'll happen ;\/.

FatsDomino Sep 1, 2007 04:04 PM

Everything besides menus was already in English. One proficient translator doped up while wearing a sombrero and boxing gloves could do it.

The ending had no voice acting and was written all in Japanese. Excellent game though. Maybe they'll announce a sequel for Wii when it gets released. That would be neat since Treasure has done dick all for the last couple years.

FatsDomino Sep 1, 2007 04:25 PM

Aw, damn you Intarbutt, you told me everything but menus. You can sleep on the couch tonight, mister. :mad:

Yeah, Treasure would probably do a good job of using the new control seizure device to cause some nice seizures again. :)

wvlfpvp Sep 1, 2007 06:34 PM

sprout, I wasn't bitching about the lack of update to the first post, I was just wondering if things like SMRPG had been announced somewhere.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo confirmed it before the Wii was even released. Why it's not out yet, I don't know.

Infernal Monkey Sep 1, 2007 11:08 PM

Oh ho!

Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (NES version) and Mario's Super Picross have been rated by the Australian classification board, which means they'll be hitting our VC service soon (soon as in sometime in the next seven years). So I guess there you go. Japanese games are heading elsewhere.

Sword Familiar Sep 2, 2007 05:43 AM

Nintendo games? Perhaps. Treasure games? Unlikely.

MrMonkeyMan Sep 2, 2007 08:57 AM

Well, Treasure seems pretty keen on releasing their games on the Virtual Console, and Sin and Punishment was a collaboration between Treasure and Nintendo, so it really doesn't seem so unlikely. It was also fully localised back when it was released, so they really don't have to do any work on it at all.
