What does this "blu-ray" even look like. I keep hearing all this NEW IMPROVED BLU-RAY THAT WILL COOK BREAKFAST FOR YOU but really haven't even seen what this disc thing looks like. Yeah, I admit I'm not really the spec type that looks at all the hardware and stuff, basically if the reviews say its good, then I'll consider getting it (duh). So does this blu ray look like a spiffed up DVD or something? Yeah I did do a google image search:

Also, can anyone tell me what the hell this is? It's like a PS2 controller with a mini keyboard. OUTTA THIS WORLD!

That's dodonpachi, a bullet hell shooting game by Cave. I think wikipedia can explain the game a little better than I can. Unfortunately I have next to no idea what that dodonpachi is being played on.

The controller looks like one made by Sammy, and you can buy them for dirt cheap off of play-asia here.

I'm not too sure what to think of it. It doesn't seem to go well with the PS3 console, but it does look more comfortable than the boomerang.

The thing though is I'm surprised it's using the old PS logo instead of the "spiderman" font. But again it's a placeholder image I guess.

Stealth is on the fucking money. If this concept is indeed true, the PS3's going to have a very nice controller. But this is damn near a perfect rip of Logitech's product, how the hell are they going to avoid getting sued?

BTW, Blu-Ray discs are just high capacity discs and the drives simply read them. The only thing special about the format is how huge it is compared to current DVDs and how much HD material it can carry.

Bleh that controller looks so boring. Also, that black, half-circle part on top of the pause and select buttons looks a lot like the censor on the tip of Revo's controller...

Stealth Apr 3, 2006 01:16 AM

There's also a white version of the controller I posted (Made with special Madden or FFXII logo)

Suffice to say that the 'concept' is fake.

The only PS3 news I'm interested in is when swap magic will be released for it.

Best damn thing I've bought for PSTwo in eight centuries.

Lair is looking pretty damned good. Needs more gameplay information though.

Rock Apr 4, 2006 01:14 PM

Factor 5. Think Rogue Leader with Dragons. The HUD gives it away.

PS3's new "lifestyle server" features have come straight from the official PlayStation Magazine. The lifestyle server will feature things such as video chat, blogs, forums, recorded gameplay footage, and voice chat. You will be able to use your eye-toy style camera with it for the video chat. It sounds to me like they are trying to jump on the MySpace and Facebook parade, which is probably a pretty smart move since they have both been a huge success. We should have more information May 8th which is it's annual pre-E3 conference. Sounds to me like Sony is on the right path for an Xbox Live killer, although I'm sure not all of you agree.

MySpace meets PS3. I'm a bit iffy about that (especially considering the horrors of myspace). I do like that you can record gameplay footage though. I've been wanting a feature like that for ages.

I heard PS3 is going to come with Linux out of the box. Is this truth or fiction?

Soldier Apr 4, 2006 06:05 PM

Seriously, what IS Linux, and why would I care?

Casaubon Apr 4, 2006 06:25 PM

Linux is an OS. Like Windows. I don't really see why everyone likes it on the PS2/3, is there even any advantages to it?

Mobius One Apr 4, 2006 06:29 PM

I don't know, I've never used Linux. But if PS3 has an OS then that's awesome!

Soldier Apr 4, 2006 06:40 PM

Awesome how? Just to browse the internet on your PS3? Pointless if you already have a PC in your room.

FatsDomino Apr 4, 2006 10:41 PM

Soldier, drop it. The idea of Linux on a PS3 is just one of those things to show off the adaptability of Linux. They've gotten it to run off of just about anything and it's sometimes a nice way to find holes for pirates to find ways of hacking a system for running pirated games. I believe that's how it happened for Xbox. Anyway that's about it - Linux geeks just having fun getting their OS to run on anything.

Truth.

Stealth Apr 4, 2006 11:18 PM

Well, they pretty much just wanted an operating system on it for file access is my guess. And using Windows would be quite stupid.

Kaiten Apr 4, 2006 11:51 PM

Even if we're not able to run copied games on a PS3's Linux, the ablity to run hombrew formats would be very nice. And If we don't like the way the PS3's Linux is, we could always have someone change it (if it's Linux, it's GPLed and would easily be modified).

I think the fact that you can run Linux on Dreamcast and iPod already demonstrate it's vast adaptability.

Kaiten Apr 5, 2006 12:20 AM

Actually any console you own is not a legitimate (or very adaptable) gaming system until you can play Doom or Lemmings on it (or hack your way into playing it). Which is why Linux and the PS3 is a match made in heaven.

Elixir Apr 5, 2006 12:27 AM

Why would you want to play Lemmings on a PS3?

Because Lemmings is on almost every other platform (see here), it's a rite of passage for a game system. Plus Lemmings is a damn fun game, why wouldn't you want it on the PS3?

It's my 666th post, what a weird milestone http://www.uselessgraphics.com/devil0.gif

Metal Sphere Apr 5, 2006 12:30 AM

A Linux OS? That's going a little overboard, especially since last I heard that the interface and whatnot were simply Linux based, not the actual OS itself. Hopefully this doesn't detract from where attention SHOULD be going in regards to BC, enhancements, etc..
