I got 'Splinter Cell: Double Agent' for the original XBOX today. I also got it for the 360 when it came out in mid-October. The reason I got the XBOX version is that the levels are different from the 360 version and the story is told better (or so I've read). I'm at the start of the second level. When I get done with the XBOX version I'll compare the two versions.

Most recent game I got was Cooking Mama. I got it on the release date and really haven't bought much since then. It's a pretty good game, but got to be monotonous in the end. Now that I've finished it, I'm not sure what to do with it haha.

I'd recommend it to people just because it's pretty damn quirky and cute. Other than that? Meh.

Omnislash124 Nov 4, 2006 02:34 PM

First time buying a PC game for like, 8 years now, this time, it's Counter Strike Source off of Steam because it was so cheap and also because of the hell I went through trying to setup my own personal server.

I recently completed the hardest DS game on earth in Trauma Center: Under the Knife. Until then, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney had always escaped me at my local video game stores. But alas, I finish X7: Savato, and today I get Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Wahooo! Finally months of struggling to be a master surgeon are done. It's time to become an ace attorney.

I also got Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 (GBA) just because I never played it, and there's a lot of hype for Yoshi's Island 2 coming out soon. So I wanna check out the first game before getting the new game.

Also got the FFX Tidus action figure. Just gotta get Yuna now, even though I already have the FFX-2 model. :p

Megaman ZX (DS)
Cooking Mama (DS)
Contact (DS)
Magical Starsign (DS)

I got them all within two weeks, or so. Yeah..I'm a DS whore. To be honest, there are still many more games I want to get. I just have to figure out where, or how I can get the money, haha.

Chaotic Nov 6, 2006 01:12 AM

A whole bunch of random games:

Megaman Battle Network 6: Cybeast Falzar (GBA) - And I haven't even played the first five. There's something seriously wrong with this scene.

Metal Slug Advanced (GBA) - Five days and i'm STILL stuck on the 2nd Mission. T_T. Good fun though.

Naruto: Clash of Ninja - Don't ask. I plan to sell this one once I whore out all three extra characters..

NBA 2K7 (XBOX) - I thought that it would be nice to get it on this system for a change... Then again, that was a bad idea. I'm planning to trade it in so I could get the PS2 version instead.

Yakuza (PS2) - Haven't played alot of it, but it's pretty cool.

Pikmin 2 (GC) - I heard this was an amazing game, so why the hell not?

Infernal Monkey Nov 6, 2006 05:02 AM

Both of these arrived in much bubble wrap today

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13...p/IM000075.jpg

DVDCrave got both of them in stock outta nowhere and I caved. :( I was planning on buying the local release of Contact when it comes out next year but eh whatever, American DS games have nice cases and instruction manuals and are a million times cheaper~. Also Touch Detective is never going to get an Aussie release anyway.

Hardly put any time into Contact so far, but Touch Detective is charming. Very light hearted and other words can be placed in this sentence to expand upon the feelings of delight. Lucasarts I'm still shaking my head at you for your stupidity to make even more shitty Star Wars games for DS rather than port over your adventure games.

Neogin Nov 6, 2006 11:45 AM

I'm tempted to get Touch Detective, but I heard everything was good but the overall gameplay.

Yeah, PS2 version FTW. For sports games, I'm just really used to the PS2 controller. I'd really like this game for the 360, but I don't have one.

Chaotic Nov 6, 2006 11:57 AM

The 360 one plays great, but I wasn't blessed to get fouled when I was playing it at my local Gamestop.

And i'd sacrifice better graphics for control any day. <_<

I'm trying to get used to the XBOX, but it's hard to.

I've thought about buying Yakuza, but I haven't heard much about it besides a few good remarks. I just imagine the combat system to be dire - can't tell you why.

Helloween Nov 6, 2006 04:32 PM

Went shopping around the used section at EE and EB, picked up Ghost Hunter for 9 bucks, and Siren for 17. Looking forward to a new survival horror serise, possibly two, depends on how well Ghost Hunter goes.

Also picked up the used discount card at EB. I'll be making use of that i tell ya.

Yeah, the thing about that is, you don't really need to play the other five first, since they are all basically the same thing, with just a slighty different story in each one.

Anyway, today I bought Contact and Pokemon Ranger at Best Buy. While there, I saw they were selling some games for less than $10, so I just went ahead and bought most of the ones that I didn't have. So I also got Pac-Man World 3 (DS), King Kong (DS), and Real Time Conflict: Shogun Empires.

One thing I found weird while at Best Buy was that they had a Naruto game on the DS. I thought this normal until I realized there are no Naruto DS games out in America. I looked closer and saw that it was a Japanese game. So can somebody tell me when in the hell did Best Buy start selling imported games?

nnf nnf~

Still need to get Contact and Touch Detective myself. Children of Mana arrived and I'm lovin' it. It's really colorful on the DS and since I already have the japanese version I knew what to expect. Then again I'm just a sucker for dungeon crawlers like Chocobo's Dungeon and this.

Wanderer is pretty much useless, from hat I played of him in the japanese version, so if anyone's thinking of using him, don't.

RPG Maker Nov 6, 2006 06:42 PM

Got these two weeks ago when Toysrus had a buy two get one free deal:
  • Magical Starsign - Just not liking the story but its playable.
  • Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime - Love this game the most out of the three.
  • Megaman ZX - Never played much Megaman games but now I wish I did.
Still must get these but alas damn money get in my way:
  • Children of Mana - The game looks pretty, I want.
  • Contact - Looked and sounded interesting.
  • Final Fantasy XII (normal version) - Just another FF game I must have.
  • Pokemon Ranger - Didn't even bother with Mystery Dungeon but might give this game a try.
Grr, still need to finish Tales of the abyss but I'm just not feeling it.

I got 'Call of Duty 3' on Wednesday. I'm at the start of the fourth level. So far it's as good as 'Call of Duty 2'. It has improved visuals. I really like the music for the game. The main menu music is great. Joel Goldsmith is the composer of the music. He's Jerry's son.

Sega Genesis Collection. And it fucking rules. Sega's obviously learned quite a bit from their previous collections -- the few Sonic ones I played had pretty bad interfaces for choosing what games, and the ports were unpolished with merely zoomed-in screens. :/

The Genesis Collection though looks really nice, even supports progressive scan. Lots of great games and the controls transition over very smoothly. Great idea for either a PSP or a PS2.

Infernal Monkey Nov 10, 2006 12:35 AM

So no broken music and sound effects this time? Sega did a really terrible job with the PS2 version of Sonic Mega Collection. =\ I wouldn't mind picking up Genesis collection for the three Golden Axe games and to laugh at Virtua Fighter 2 again.

SouthJag Nov 10, 2006 02:11 AM

All the sound effects, music, hell even the graphics -- the Sonic Gems Collection had some really bad macro-blocking problems with one or two of the games. It's cool to buy, Infernal.

I bought FFXII Collector's Edition... but the Bonus DVD ain't working... wtf... gave it to my cousin to test out since my ps2 is modded... might be a problem (though it never was <.<)

I'm hoping it's my ps2, 'cause I'm to lazy to go to the US (driving for 45 min) and talk with them... since chances are I can't get it replaced anywayz....

Since my last post about Double Agent, God Hand, and Tales of the Abyss, I've picked up no less than 8 games besides Gears. In the last two weeks. So uhhh. Wow, I didn't even notice until this post. Empty wallet is empty.

PS2:
Final Fantasy XII Collector's Edition. (Solely because of the metal tin. I am actually really hating this offline MMO game right now.)

360:
Need for Speed Carbon. (Because I'm a whore for racers and this is actually a boatload of fun. No lie. Seriously I've somehow sunk like, 15 hours into this already, and this last week was my midterm week.)

PSP:
Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception. (Easily PSP's GOTY, beats out Lumines 2 because of Lumines II's shitty track list. Fucking amazing on it's own merits too.)

GCN: (!)
Baten Kaitos II. (Because I'm late to the party. But it was on the cheap thanks to using Mo0 for a TRU 2:1 deal.)
Harvest Moon: Magical Melody. (Don't laugh. I really really dig the relaxing nature of these games, and MM is by far the best 3D one. Got it based on the same sale as BKII.)

DS:
Children of Mana (Competant dungeon crawler. Useful in short bursts at work lunch hours. Not all that great otherwise though.)
Magical Starsign. (See BKII above)

GBA:
Final Fantasy V Advance (3rd best FF deserves a purchase, especially after getting cleaned up, retranslated and made portable. It's a lot of fun.)

And this week is Yoshi's Island 2 and a couple of expensive consoles. Ugh.

Freelance Nov 11, 2006 03:05 PM

My last three purchases were FFXII CE, Clubhouse Games and Digimon World DS. Out of those three, I played the first and last game the most. Very fun :D

Rockgamer Nov 11, 2006 03:42 PM

I've bought a couple of things since my last post. First off, I finally got around to buying Touch Detective. I probably won't be playing it anytime soon, but I figured I would get it now before it becomes hard to find.

Next, I bought Digimon World DS. Damn, this game was a bitch to find. I went to three different Gamestops just to find it, and the one that did have it only got one copy in. How the hell do they expect sell games if they only ship out one copy to each store? Anyway, I plan on playing this once I beat Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, though I have no idea when that will be (damn school).

And finally, I finally got around to buying Red vs. Blue: Season Four. Now I just need to find time to watch it.

Helloween Nov 12, 2006 02:08 PM

picked up Children of Mana the other day. It's ok so far, not great, but it's just starting, so we'll see what happens.

As far as my other recent purchases (Killer 7, Ghost Hunter, Siren) they seem like they're good enough to tide me over until after christmas.
