Gonna put up a Naked City album soon.

Haven't done this in a long time.

knkwzrd Feb 6, 2007 09:17 AM

FINALLY SCHADENFREUDE'S MARVELOUS RETURN!

Seriously, everyone listen to that record. One of my favorites.

Schadenfreude Feb 6, 2007 09:52 AM

It is an awesome album. I loves me some Zorn.

Admiral Amara Feb 6, 2007 10:41 AM

Schadenfreude's baaaaaaacck ^___^

I'm grabbing that crazy-ass album you uploaded as we speak, Schad. It certainly looks like an adventure.

Moon, sweet deal with that Goddamn Electric Bill upload. I like what I've heard from them, and now I'll have the whole album. Huzzah.

Schadenfreude Feb 6, 2007 10:55 AM

Just posted Painkiller's "Buried Secrets". More Zorn!

Again, another record you all need to hear. Zorn is God.

Schadenfreude Feb 6, 2007 11:03 AM

Heh. I have some more Zorn/Naked City/Hemophiliac albums I'll probably upload soon.

knkwzrd Feb 6, 2007 11:07 AM

I have a good deal of the Tzadik catalog, so just give a shout if you ever want to give any of it a listen. I honestly don't think that label has or will ever release a bad album.

Schadenfreude Feb 6, 2007 11:19 AM

A lot of the stuff filed under the "lunatic fringe" and "new japan" sections on the Tzadik website interest me greatly...

knkwzrd Feb 6, 2007 12:53 PM

Sure thing. Expect a MEC post today or tomorrow.

Schadenfreude Feb 6, 2007 09:20 PM

Man, you are 25 different kinds of awesome, you know that?

Also, look out for some more Meeeeeeerzbowww

Draz Feb 8, 2007 08:31 PM

OMG, loving the Naked City album. So delicious.

Is that Mike Patton on vocals?

Though Patton does do quite a bit of work with Zorn, the vocals in Naked City (as well as Painkiller) are done by Yamataka Eye of the Boredoms. He's also a fairly renowned visual artist, creating the Boredoms cover art as well as a working with a handful of other artists, probably his most famous being Beck's Midnite Vultures.

Schadenfreude Feb 8, 2007 09:35 PM

AHHHSEED POHHLESAAYYY!!

<3 Eye.

BTW, I (re-?)uploaded Merzbow's "Pulse Demon" for Draz, and am uploading Naked City's "Heretic, Jeux des Dames Cruelles".

Draz Feb 8, 2007 09:47 PM

I loved The Boredoms album I had a while ago, but it's long since lost to the ages.

Sadly, they are hard to find. Those vocals are amazing though, absolutely delightful. If I can find Boredoms stuff... well, it would make me happy.

Oh yeah, and thanks to Schadenfreude for the Merz upload. <3

Looking forward to that Naked City. I got their self-titled album a while ago, maybe I should upload that.

Schadenfreude Feb 8, 2007 09:49 PM

I have quite a bit of Boredoms albums on my HD too.

EDIT: Fuck, probably goinna have to upload the Naked City album sometime else. The upload kept resetting back to 0%, wtf? Maybe I'll try rapidshare this time..

This is my favorite Merzbow release, other than maybe one or two of the Merzbox discs.

Schadenfreude Feb 8, 2007 10:02 PM

Mine too, although I haven't listened to a lot of Merzbow. Well, 16 albums is quite a bit, but taken in the context of Masami's HUEG discography, well, 16 ain't much.

I don't think I've ever posted any Incapacitants, eh? They're awesome, probably even better than Merzbow sometimes. I'll see about posting some soon.

Draz Feb 8, 2007 10:07 PM

All this noise music I have yet to be exposed to.

How do people get a hold of noise music in the first place? It's all but impossible to find in stores, especially when you live in the middle of nowhere...

Furthermore, all my friends look at me oddly when I tell them I listen to 'noise music' - they hadn't even heard of it before I mentioned it. >>

Schadenfreude Feb 8, 2007 10:10 PM

Most of the noise I have I got from the Internet. They're also mostly out of print, if I'm not mistaken.

I only have one physical noise release, and it's the Napalmed / Merzbow collaboration. I found it in a shop specializing in metal/punk, haha. I was looking around their stack of cds and... whoa!

If I hadn't bought it it'd probably still be there.

Well, though my city lacks a really nice, large, quality music store, there are one or two specialty record shops around that carry stuff like this. One near my house even had Merzbow's 6-disc Houjoue boxset for a while, but alas I was too poor at the time.

And yeah, I don't really talk about noise-music with most of my friends. Why it pays to have a wide-ranging taste.

Draz Feb 8, 2007 10:16 PM

Curses. If it's on the internet, I am having a hard time finding it.

Would love a hard copy of the Merzbox though. That's the stuff dreams are made of... out of print, I believe though.

knkwzrd Feb 8, 2007 10:20 PM

Yes, out-of-print, but still fairly easy to acquire if you have the cash to spare. Not exactly a huge demand for the thing.

Draz Feb 8, 2007 10:24 PM

That's both heartening and saddening.

With the trend in music going the way it is though, I wouldn't be surprised to see noise making some kind of more accessible creep in the next ten years. Sound only seems to get heavier and heavier...

knkwzrd Feb 8, 2007 10:30 PM

I agree entirely, especially with the indie crowd embracing Sunn O))) and Thrones and similar acts. Probably just the Melvins connection that's driving it right now, but hopefully it can come into a more popular light without being totally bastardized.
