I know, I said he was being mentioned by the Schwarze squad.

Oh and I didn't know you could shoot down Pops. Haha, but then again my focus shifted towards the Schwarze aces as soon as they appeared. Was this the battle where Bartlett supposedly saved Pops? Can't remember exactly... Oh and after checking out the Assault Records I noticed that the Schwarze Leader, and #2, was from Yuktobania, another nice little continuity.

Mobius One May 3, 2006 03:22 PM

Pops is in Swarze? Hmm, never noticed. I think you get the Razgriz paint scheme for the F-14D if you beat it on Mercinary. It's cool to show up next to Heartbreak 1's plane in mission 10 with the Razgriz emblem.

Well if the enemy players just did loops the whole time, you could just get some distance and come straight at them to shoot them down. If there are mission objectives (like "be the first to destroy all enemy ground units") then it wouldn't be boring at all.

As far as lag goes, I don't think it would be too big a problem in AC. Other games are faster paced and include things like running, shooting, and dying animations which really slow things down. AC doesn't really have all that.

I'm sorry to derail this conversation a tad bit, for I need to request something, and I hope some of you guys might be able to help me.

Do any of you have the *all* squadron logos from AC0 in a decent resolution? I'm having a hard time finding INDIGO, WIZARD, ROT, SORCEROR, and others in a decent size (if at all). The only big ones that are easy to find are GELB, GALM, SILBER and so on.

Any help with this owuld be great, thanks. <3

Magi May 3, 2006 04:08 PM

Interestingly, they had those on wikipedia. Although I am pretty sure it just isn't good enough quality for you. Although people who are pretty good with vector can reproduce those in high resolution.

What's yaw?

Cel May 3, 2006 06:42 PM

What's the fun in looping? you're kidding right? missiles would be flying left and right, explosions everywhere, gun fire in the background or even stray bullets near you, it would be crazy dogfights. But they also need to put these dogfights near the ground as well as the air.

The way that I get rid of someone on my six, I go through some canyon or close to the ground near the mountain range, or in between a city, and I lose them completely. If this was online mode and someone actually dared to continue chasing me, they'd find it very hard let me tell you =) (if they don't crash into a building that is).

Yaw is basically "turning" left or right on the horizonal axis. Basically like turning your car left and right. It's just there for added control of the aircraft, but is isn't really there for major turining. In order to "turn" you roll the craft left or right until it's on it's side and then pull up until the craft is facing the direction you want it to face, then you make the aircraft flat and upright again. Yaw controls are just there to help aim your reticle more precisely when lining up for a shot or something.

I forgot to mention some controls earlier:
Hold L2 + R2: Autopilot (levels the craft and makes you "flat" with the horrizon. Good for low visibility where you're not sure where the ground is and are afraid of colliding with it)

D-pad: Wingman commands.

Much thanks. That solves about half of the logos in good quality. The real trick now would be the WIZARD and SORCEROR ones.

Thanks again though, much appreciated.

Namco updates the AC0 site once a week, and the updates always contain a couple of new wallpapers. So hopefully they'll have made ones for all of the ace squads eventually.

Ugh, SORCEROR squadron on mission 16 is really frustrating me. I can usually take out 2 before the rest converge on me and quickly kill me.

Yeah, you have to kill at least one member of each wave before the next group shows up. Otherwise, you'll probably get swamped unless you're really good or playing on very easy. :\

If you do wind up fighting more than two or three planes, set PJ to disperse or attack and let him use special weapons. He probably won't kill anyone like Pixy, which is why so many people (incorrectly) think he's worthless, but he can at least break up their formations a bit, and he'll usually drag one or two fighters away from the main formation. If that happens, go after the lone plane for a fairly easy kill. That's probably the only reliable way to beat them on Ace difficulty, though I've managed to beat them once in The Gauntlet, sans PJ.

If you beat them, you get their cool-looking F-15S/MTD, which is my favorite plane...nice reward. ^^

I gotta admit...most of those people there are either ignorant as hell with saying crap like "OMG, MOBIUS ONE IZZ DA BESTT, HIM AND BLAZE KNOW EACH OTHER" or "NAGASE WOULD BE HOT NEKKID" or you have these opinionated Right-Wing military kids who just don't get the core stories of these games, and just have all this fake patriotism going around. It's so aggrevating, and...weird to see THESE type of fans flocking to this game.

Holy hell. It's been a dog's age since I heard someone address that point from the sane side; I was back on AC04's GameFAQs board, which was like the Old Republic of AC discussion before they merged with Gamespot. Back then it was just points and tactics, with Grandmort keeping the scores updated on his Web site...then I went away because we'd done pretty much everything there was to do in AC04, and found that everybody had gone to AC.net. I don't know what they put in the water there and at ACskies, but it's just not the same; I think their traffic runs one-third game talk and two-thirds Fox News "discussion," with anybody liberal getting modded for "disrespect."

On a less disgusted tangent, I thought I'd pass along something I just picked up from ACZ, your reward for acquiring S ranks on all missions on Ace: a fascinating quote, doubly so given its source.

Just a technical question here: Are savegames from the Japanese original compatible with the recently released US version of the game?

No, they aren't.

Karasu May 5, 2006 12:48 PM

@Taji
Yea I don't get that forum...they're very obnoxious and rude. I remember their previous admin [Shadow] banned me from there, because I defended myself against those Right-Wing people, and he thought it was causing a war and flaming...yet he did nothing to them. Go figure at favoritism.

For the record, I love the fact I played AC 4 and 5 and beat them. Now, the ADFX-01 and ADF-01 reside in my plane buying hangar. I playfully tried out the Morgan [I had the money to try], and it's not too bad. I didn't save the game though, because i'm saving up for other planes, but since I have the Gauntlet now...I assume I'll need the Morgan for facing Mobius One.

Stealth May 5, 2006 01:04 PM

I got banned from AC.Net for retarded reasons as well. Mostly because all the nerds saw a girl on the forum, which they were ready to defend with every breath for god knows what. I insulted her hideous typing.

I'm also planning my own AC site for those of you interested. (Check Sig)

Anyways, was anyone stupid enough to gun down the plane in the finaly mission? I got raped like 10 times trying, finally nailed it though.

I'm going to use the Morgan for the burst missile, but the Falken seems to be the plane of choice for its laser (don't use the Morgan's laser, it doesn't last as long, plus it seems to weigh the plane down. It feels less manuverable somehow with the laser attached.)

Skwerl May 5, 2006 03:32 PM

another banned person from ac.net
I told this kid to stfu and read the faq then the admin just banned me.
Kind of funny, the admin let this kid who parades with nazism off the hook, while banning me right on sight.

Assholes...

Stealth May 5, 2006 04:00 PM

Yep, we should start our own Forum with no boundries.

tajisdurmin May 5, 2006 04:56 PM

I never got banned per se, but when I had the gumption to post a link to Pentagon Strike on the last 9/11 anniversary, dear old Mike503 killed my topic without so much as posting a reason. Of course, I remember him best for responding to my suggestion on GameFAQs that the X-45 be a playable uber-aircraft (no broken special weapons, just a level of acceleration and maneuverability not seen until the Arkbird's Vogels in AC5) with the words "NO NO NO!" For a while he gave up the mod business and claimed to be citizen 503, but I've quietly thought ACskies was doomed ever since I saw him start a topic to announce his reinstatement: "The Sherrif has returned."

As for encountering Mobius, consider the FALKEN. The TLS can burn aces out of the sky almost as fast as they arrive if you're quick; don't try that against large formations like Schwarze or Gault, of course, but even if you have to get close and lase individual fighters you'll still be moving faster than the MPBM's atrocious reload time permits. I had that idea last night, and cut through all five squadrons I drew (Gelb/Rot/Schwarze/Espada/Wizard) on Normal in about a minute each. That said, I first flew the mission blind on Ace, drew smaller squadrons, ran into Mobius and took him down...in a Morgan. It's all about making your opponents bunch up so you fire exactly two MPBMs per fight.

Stealth May 5, 2006 07:21 PM

What do you expect from a 30 year old man who takes orders from a 17 year old dumbshit of an admin?

Mobius One May 6, 2006 12:01 AM

LOL, "A Forum with no boundaries". I think that name would imply really loose moderation. At least it would be less strict than this AC.net sounds. I was never a part of it.

I'm totally for starting a new AC forum.

Stealth May 6, 2006 12:26 AM

I got a site and vB we can use.

Karasu May 6, 2006 12:41 AM

Eh, most new forums die fastly...and this one might because of the fanbase it's directed to [we're not that big, you know?] Hehe.

BTW, I frickin' love that avatar, Mobius. Hahahaha, Colbert FTW xD
