Cast Dispel on your party members, and interrupt whatever healing they were attempting to do, lest you cure Yiazmat (or worse, Renew him).

I've been somewhat side tracked lately and just haven't really had the time to pick up the game. I'm saved right before Omega, finally thinking of takinig a stab at him. BTW, a little off topic, but anyone have any good recomendations for a FF-esque RPG. Truth be told those are basically the only RPG's I have played. I thought of buying a couple of the Suikoden's the other day to see what they were like, but I didn't. Just wasn't sure about them.

I don't know about FF-like, but you can try Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria, Rogue Galaxy popping up later this month, and Persona 3 in a few months.

BTW, I like how you said you saved right next to Omega, even though his hermit ass is at least 2 screens away from Waystone XXI.

Thanks, I'll have to take a look into those ones. Yea well I meant right before I prepared to do that fucking gate racing right before him again(I made it through and paused before I was going to fight him, then my brother decided to turn my game off without asking me to play Guitar Hero). I don't think there is an area in the game which I despise more then the Great Crystal. I mean c'mon, especially if your there for awhile (as I know you have been spending some serious time there lately) and listening to the damn foot steps walking on that shit. It gives me a headache after awhile until i finally mute it.

Lionking-Cyan Jan 25, 2007 11:59 AM

But if i dispel the reflect that yazamat casts on me, won't i dispel my other positive status too (bubble on masamune user, hastega, protetga, and so on)?

WOA! I was actually thinking to play suikoden 1 and 2 right after ff12, as i've never played that serie. The first and the second, 'cause they say the 2 is the best, but that the story is a true follow up of the first episode.
Yet, i still have to decide between these 2, and ffx, as ff12 really left me unsatisfied with it's story, so i'd really like to play a ff with a TRUE wonderful story.

Yes, as unfortunate as it is, you will dispell all your positive buffs. There's a good counter for Reflect though - Opal Rings. You can heal your party members without worrying of the casted magic being relected to Yiazmat. This may be tough and it may not work, but maybe try switching in between Opal Rings to Power Armlets, and back.
Without Opal Rings, you could cast Scathe against an ally to triple it vs Yiazmat. Then equip the Opals when you need to heal (which will probably be most of the time).

Anyway, I don't get this. I got Zodiark down to 1/8 of his health, then he got healed every time I attacked him with the Excalibur (didn't notice if he casted anything on himself). To make it worse, my guys were equipped with Black Masks/ Demon Shields and 2 of my characters at a time got killed by Darkja. Such BS!!!!!!!!! Disease is so wicked as well, since it lasts after you revive them to 1 HP.

....uh I fought Gilgamesh and his dog partner.....but his entry scene....he TRIPS and fell off the top bridge on to the bottem bridge and that made him like a fool.......and he talks to much......after I beaten him he runs away like a coward

Espers are holy creatures. Using any kind of holy-based weapon on them (such as excalibur) will heal them.

Never seen such a monstrous spoiler :sonyPS2: :judge:

Anyway, he is like this in ff5 too.

Lazlow Jan 25, 2007 04:49 PM

well this the second time I saw Gilgamesh the first time I saw him was in Final Fantasy Vlll after Seifer killed Odin

LilGreekKid Jan 26, 2007 12:24 AM

Lazlow.....When you fight him and his dog a second time, its a little harder. When you fight them a second time, you better know how to cure "Disabled," because he uses those alot.

hey guys, just defeated "King Behemoth." Wasn't really that bad. Been Beating every hunt with Vaan, Basche and Beltheir. All 3 are up to LV 78. The girls LV13-15. Finally found that Eschulan (SP) Shield that does 90 Evade and also does some kind of Sap, poison, etc to you when you equip. (AND NO I DID NOT EQUP THIS TO FIND THIS OUT :)). This shield should come in handy for when I find that LV99 Red Chocobo again. Anyone know where to find the Ribbon?

By the way, what is the best way to attack Yiazmat? You guys say Holy doesn't work, so I got to avoid that. I have Ragnorak, Save the Queen, and Ultima Blade. Party LV, like I mention above is LV78 for the 3 guys.

Lazlow Jan 26, 2007 01:30 AM

...ok I lvling up my characters and doing marks and now I'm doing the Goliath hunt in the Necrohol of Nabudis and....wait a minute....the zodiac spear is in Necrohol of Nabudis right? I haven't opened ANY chest in the game so I can get it

Lionking-Cyan Jan 26, 2007 04:51 AM

But why do you say i should use ragnarok with yazamat? Isn't him immune to immobilize? Shouldn't i use ultima blade instead?

Additional Spam:
Just killed hellwyrm. Was pretty easy, but took me a lot of time :psyduck: , i think 45 minutes, but dunno how much exactly as i went for lunch between the fight (i paused of course).
I also wanted to do yazamat, so i could say goodbye to the game, but only had 3 hours, and i didn't know if i could kill him in that time. So, i'll go on him tomorrow.
Anyway, hellwyrm battle was VERY exiting, the most one till now.

LOL its gonna take about an average week to kill Yiazmat. Not 3 hours. And if any of you guys are gonna take him on, best to have 4-5 characters at high levels. I've taken off about 6 of his 50 health bars so far, and I haven't gone back to the game for a whole week yet - it's so boring.

Let me mention it again:
Have your two melee fighters go Haste/Berserk/Bubble/Bravery/Protect/Shelled - to increase combo hits on Yiazmat.
Control your ranged healer who will need to cast Curaja every 2 rounds, and casting Haste as well (equip Sage's Ring). Fomalhaut + Dark Shot can be the valuable attack weapon for the healer.

If you do want the additional damage, then go get some Maximillians + Magepower Shisaks for added strength. Or else Brave Suit + Masamune + Genji Armor will help increase combo hitting.

Whenever you run from Yiazmat, he will start casting his buffs. So whenever you return to him, you'd better damn well Dispel or else the red bars in his inventory will light back up.

Lionking-Cyan Jan 26, 2007 12:06 PM

Well, today i didn't start fighitng him, 'cause i feared that quitting and realoading the save, would refill his healt.
Anyway, you say that i should use berserk, but that would be very bad for my strategy, as i have self bravery on everyone, self hastega on ashe (tank and main and masamune), protetga on fran (not healer). Do you think i could do it easily without berserk, or does it last as much as bravery and haste, so that i don't have to worry for these 2 to wear off while berserk is on?
About the brave suit, i saw it at the beginning of henne mines map (sepihirot's). But in the game i can't find it. There's no chest in that place. Can you help me about this? I'd really like to give brave suit to masamune user.

Tomahawk Jan 26, 2007 12:15 PM

Berserk lasts LONGER than Bravery/Haste/Bubble/Protect. So what you could do is let the berserkers attack him, and then when the berserk wears off, let them re-buff themselves. Or re-buff them while they're still berserked.
It's retarded in my opinion, that these spells don't hold the same duration. Big battles like Yiazmat would be easier then, but oh well. There's always the alternative of keeping an eye on their status.

Unfortunately, I haven't found the Brave Suit either. Chances are, you have to hope they randomly pop up in a chest in the Henne Mines (with Diamond Armlet). It's too bad there isn't a mid-save point in the Special Charter Shaft where you could constantly re-load the game if your finds have failed.

Yiazmat doesn't take anywhere near a day to kill, let alone a week. Anyone in the 70s with the defensive suite, bubble belts, expose used (10 max) will have no problem.

It's an extremely boring fight, but even at level 70, you're going to get through the boring part rather quickly. 2 hours and 10-20 minutes was what I had when he croaked.

Don't berserk anyone, you need everyone ready to heal, especially after he uses Growing Threat and Cyclone actually becomes somewhat dangerous. This advice is even more relevant in the last stretch, where a Berserked party member will only get you killed faster, since they won't be healing.

As for running back before he casts Regen again? That's either the last or second last buff he throws up, depending on whether he's done GT or not. The instant you can target him, get Dispel ready and you won't have a problem. The good thing is, this ties him up for a substantial amount of time, so you get a good number of hits in before he goes on the offensive again.

Hey are guys sure, you can get the yagyu darkblade from Bombshell in the Lushu (Sp) Mines? I faught that thing 5 times and the only things I am getting is "High Arcana" and "Pile of Bomb Shells."

By the way, on Youtube someone has a video that shows how to beat Yiazmat in 2 hours, if anybody interested.

Ohhh and where do you do this fishing game at?

Look on Gamefaqs, there's a battle mechanics guide on there somewhere that explains how to chain Bombshell to increase the chances of a Yagyu drop. Most people get it at 27 or 30 chain, though I've see folks go as high as 74 chain. They get 3, BTW.

Heh, about a half hour faster than what I managed. Unfortunately, my interest in all things Yiazmat has long since evaporated. Happy to help fellow gamers bring him down though.

After doing the Cactoid quest (and the Return to Barheim sidequest), talk to Ruksel and he expresses interest in fishing. Go to Balfonheim and find the old fishing guy just before the Aerodrome. Keep talking to him and pick the affirmative option, then run off and come back. He'll be gone, so take his fishing rod and bring it to Ruksel. Now you can fiish.

How you get 27-30 Chains on the bombshell when Aeronite is there?

Set your attack gambits to attack Water-weak enemies only (read: Bombshell). Then just use the method to get him to respawn (2 maps away, then come back and if he's not there, zone between Site 5 and the span until he does).

Yeah. Defensive suite on, as well as all Holy type weapons, maybe someone with Berserk. Have everyone with either Black Masks/Demon Shields to absorb his dark magic. Easy as hell, and once you beat him, immediately go up to B2F and fight Luxollid (Holy).

Chip Jan 26, 2007 11:34 PM

Ugh, I havent touched FFXII for weeks now due to work... I'm confined to playing portable games in my free time at the office :( Now that I think about it, I'm just at the part where Im building that sandstorm rod or whatever that'll let me walk against the sandstorm :o I found the damned part from the desert and now I forgot where I should be going back to (Sure, Rabanestre, but where?).... anyone?

LilGreekKid Jan 27, 2007 12:40 AM

METAL SPHERE---Did you steal from it? You get an "Eight-Fluted Pole." Luxillod, is he the exact same thing, an Entite?
