Tomahawk, what if I get a ribbon (or a few of them), will they help if my characters are at such levels divisible by the magic numbers of 2,3, and 5? Also, you did mention that bunny trick to get a ribbon, does this only work once?

Drex Jan 11, 2007 02:36 PM

Gilgamesh is a PAIN. Like I said earlier, it took me over an hour and a half to beat him down. Avoiding levels divisible by 2 or 3 is the most important - if I recall, the level 5 spell is Break, which only inflicts a slow petrify that's easy enough to get rid of. The confuse and sleep were the most annoying to me. True, you can use accessories to protect against it, but I liked being able to have other accessories on the few people I had that weren't affected by his lame spells.

When you fight him, take out Enkidu first, because he hits hard and fast. Don't bother stealing from the first 3 phases of Gilgamesh, either. It doesn't yield anything worth the trouble. Wait until he's down to 40% and starts giving up the Genji junk. Then you'll probably want to keep your guys bubbled and protectga-d, because Gilgamesh has some nasty attacks that can lop upwards of 6000 damage off a single character, and some that take 3-4000 off of a group in proximity. He's not a nice man.

Spatula Jan 11, 2007 02:42 PM

Well then, I think I'll reserve him for pretty much up in the upper echelons of the hardy goons, like Yiamatty and Omega Weapony, and Zordiaky (probably when I'm exactly at level 97). My highest HP right now WITH the bubble belt is about 7500 or so HP, so from your description, my party would be annilhilated like nothing.

Ultima's going to piss you off as she changes the field conditions (lol uber slow characters, MP drain, HP drain, no magic, no items, no attack, over and over) and she drops Holyja dookie on you at regular HP intervals (inflicts reverse). So your healing gambits will kill you.
Metal Sphere, looks like I'll have fun with Ultima. I always imagined that as a male character than a female, I don't know why. I remember there was an accessory that actually prevents you from gaining EXP, which might come in handy, so I don't spill over to level 98 or 99 for Gilgamesh.

Drex Jan 11, 2007 02:48 PM

Well, he's not quite that hard - I beat him with my guys hovering around level 60, and despite the time issue it wasn't horribly hard as much as frustrating and time-consuming.

Lionking-Cyan Jan 11, 2007 02:53 PM

How did you guys level up to 99?
I personally used the autoleveling guide to level up from 45 to 80 (at least on hour ago, so i hope i should get 85 for when i switch off the ps2). And i started doing so just after the great crystal. So i'll only have to level up manually for only one day (i hope...).
But did you do it all manually?

I levelled three characters to lv.99 manually, as that stupid auto-leveling trick only showed up on gamefaqs after I'd pretty much given up playing the game =D

So how do you thnk of Zeromus and the other espers before Chaos, are they easier?
may I ask what level were you on when you went to fight zeromus? cos I personally cannot believe that this summon is hard at all ... or any of them are - the only one I found "annoying" was the big fat green looking frog in rabanastre (waterway under lowtown ) cos you need to kill him quick cos your hp was dropping. well all depends in your level I assume :/ .

I lived in Henne mines ( the second way to zodiac ) for days and days and days lol mind you I couldnt stop fighting there was so entertaining lol :-D

The other thing is I left most of the hunts until I got this bald guy pirate with him I did all of them .. well most of them. I found it alot easier specially the one were you have to do a mob hunt for the viera in balfonheim port and I had : ashe - basch - Fran - The bald guy + another rabbit girl lol I got it SO easy! n_n

Just set a character with Thief's Cuffs equipped to Steal @ Foe HP </= 40%. That way when the time comes, highway robbery baby!.

Gilgamesh would get raped by Fafnir (1.3 million HP) or the Behemoth King (1.6 million), these two are way far down the monster totem pole compared to those three. Yiaz, Omimic and Zodiark are in a whole other league. I beat him after beating the first two wyrms (Faf and King) @ 77, didn't even level whatsoever from those two and went off to kill him. He was nothing short of cake at that level, so breathe easy.

I always though "She" or at least female when I heard the name Ultima, and it instantly reminded me of Altima from FFT (when using Alma's body anyways). That doesn't matter, since you're probably not going to have fun if you though Chaos was annoying.

Frustration = Difficult battle. There's really no two ways about it. If it's truly not a problem, then stalling tactics are merely irritating (Zodiark).

Level 50-85 (Deadlands), 85-99 (Pharos Subterra, Henne Mines, Great Crystal).

PiccoloNamek Jan 11, 2007 03:59 PM

I finally got around to beating the Seer today. What a damn cheater. Everything was fine until Phoenix was summoned. It just kept attacking and attacking and attacking. I had to use my reserve team! Good thing I levelled them up! The scariest moment was when there was nobody left but Penelo with 503HP and 0MP. I sure did use a lot of Phoenix Downs in that fight...

How did you lvl your characters lvls to 99 manually?

Yes, what the fuck. Goddamn Phoenix is the only enemy other than Rapist Mode Yiazmat who comboed more than 4 hits on anyone in my party. It didn't help that the bitch actually had some power in his attacks either.

Oh, and the Shadowseer and his debuffing/buffing also got old fast (especially Fearga once his minions were dead).

Deadlands. Henne. Pharos. Lhusu.

Lazlow Jan 11, 2007 04:19 PM

Deadlands. Henne. Pharos. Lhusu. ok thanks Metal
and now I'm gonna lvl up my party especily the weaker ones

Spatula Jan 11, 2007 07:28 PM

Alright, I got my work cut out for me when I get home after night class tonight, so don't let education get in the way of your gaming.

1) Deathscythe
2) Zeromus
3) Exodus

I think those two espers will take the cake for fun, while Deathscythe is mainly just to run around and discover the rest of Necrohol of Nabudis (which I haven't even explored the middle part yet).

Yes,especially when Yiazmat is low on his HP (about 10 miliions) i don't see any attack that below 6 hits.

The only thing that got me through Fearga was the Megalixers I got from the Magick Pots. I had to summon Zodiark and destroy the universe with his desperation attack to get those, damn it.

Put a pair of glasses on then - it's a fucking woman! And why are you talking about putting the "Firefly" accessory on when you can just switch up your party to the right levels? God....

Uh yeah, all you gotta do is put on these things called "Embroidered Tippets" and just kill stuff? Then you gain double experience from the kill? K...

Great, just when I thought of how much trouble Yiazmat and Omega are gonna be for me, The ShadowSeer is now officially a cheap fuck too. It's a damn shame that our magic gets raped compared to theirs.

No no no, I EXPECTED Ultima to be a male enemy before seeing her for the first time. And I will switch up my party to a non prime number of levels, but at that time when I posted it, I wanted to tackle Gilgamesh at level 97, but after hearing that you can do at say, 77, then the accessory is no longer needed. Double

What's going on here? Did the person you quote delete or get their post deleted? Edit: Eh, nvm.

Man, I just tried to get the damn Zodiac Spear chest to appear... nothing. So far I've been doing the 3 map thing from the map past the save crystal, the crystal map, ore separation and then off to the chest. Nothing, for a solid hour. It doesn't help that most of the other chests on the way also spawn sporadically. Seriously, I'm considering picking up a gameshark or somecrap, because while I've gotten lucky before, .01% really isn't working my favor. =/

I'm thinking of going for the Yagyu again, but I have no idea how to maintain a chain when those damn bats/Aeronites are around.

I'm happy I downed that bastard Shadowseer. While it didn't come down to the wire like that, it definitely wasn't a breeze. Dispelling my suite constantly, throwing Fearga around while I was still fighting the Phoenix, and randomly using Darkga/Banishing Ray made beating him a chore. Oh and his physical attacks: What the hell?

Drex Jan 11, 2007 10:40 PM

Above the post he put up, MS. A message has been sent. Carry on.

Again, you must have superhuman patience - I don't think I'll be able to spend an hour+ just trying to get one chest to spawn. :(

What the hell is right. I wasn't paying much attention because I was too busy rezzing, but I swear he was teleporting around and pulling off some serious karate moves on my team. Did you notice such a thing?

While I don't believe this is the case, far too many people have said this so there may be a grain of truth to it. Even with that in mind, this is ridiculous. The chest might as well not even exist in the first place.

90% of the time, no chest.

When the chest appears, this is the part I'm unclear of. I've heard you have a 10% chance of either getting the spear or elixer/some gil. Maybe if it was 50% either or, it'd be a bit more reasonable (like the Zodiac Esutcheon chest), but this is nothing more than a timesink.

Piccolo, mind divulging your chain secrets for the Darkblade, as I can't chain very far before something gets killed by accident (what can I say, turning gambits on and off is a pain), and that brings my chances of getting one real low.

On the bright side, if I get a high chain, I may strike gold and nab 2 or 3. And then there's only the Danjuro left, a weapon with a 1% drop rate.

He ambles around just like all the other ghoul/zombie type enemies but he moves fast. He could be quite a bit away from a character and close the distance in a stride or two, ending it with a heavy physical hit. The main issues I had with him once the guardians were dead was that he'd start beating the piss out of me. When I tried to heal/buff you could almost time when Fearga was going to be used.

Niho doesn't help for shit against him, since all he got inflicted with was Oil or Blind (probably the former) and yet his hits kept connecting. No fancy stuff, just reaming him since he essentially prevented any magic attacks from being used.

Drex Jan 11, 2007 10:49 PM

I suppose it's either that, or you have a superhuman level of OCD and have to get everything in order to put the game down. :p

PiccoloNamek Jan 11, 2007 10:53 PM

Chain secrets? I am not quite sure what you mean. If there was something special that I did, I must have done it without knowing it, because I didn't go in with any strategy in mind.

Just how you avoided killing an Aeronite/Bat while zoning for the Bombshell, that's all. Currently, I kill it, and end up downing a bat by accident as I zone to make it respawn. I just want to know what end of the span did you go in/out from.

PiccoloNamek Jan 11, 2007 11:35 PM

I killed every enemy I came across...

Anyway, I came in from the northeast side of the diagonal span.
