He will appear in a part of the Zertinian Caverns called Invitation to heresy. If I remember correctly he will appear after a while as long as you just stand still somewhere in that area.

YOU GUYS WANNA TALK ABOUT FUCKING END OF THE ROPE?!?!?!

WELL I HAVE A STORY FOR YOU!

Just beat Chaos like 2 minutes ago, and let me tell you, NEVER and I mean NEVER has a battle gone down to one single man, and you know who that is? My most disliked member, Vaan. Sorry for shouting, but god damn, here's what happened...

I thought I was like, bleh Chlulu esper was piece of cake right? So Choas should be no problem, since I like using magick spells a lot.

So for 1/2 the battle it was pretty damn easy, just keep spamming him with bio, this worked until he started using his uber attack, that basically confused your whole party. I started with 50 phoenix downs, and at the battle one VERY last bottle remained. I kept switching in people to revive the KOd guys, and I was BURNING phoenix downs like you would't believe. This Chaos guy got pissed off and started twacking my guys back to KO. One second they're standing, the next they're KOED! It came down to his health at about 10%, then he took down Fran, then when I revived her, Basch was down, and when he was down, Fran also got hit, it kept going like this until ALL 5 of my guys were KOed. I was like oh fucking shit.

Mind as well turn off the console at this point and go to bed, cause 1 guy vs this thing is NOT gonna work. I said to hell with it, and worked it off to the end. I honestly thought this would be my very first game over screen.

So I said, Vaan, I don't like you and you don't like me, but let's just get this damn show on the road okay, you faggot? He was like yeah oh okay cool. I have 1 phoenix down left, so I somehow revived Vaan, and he stepped in, it's MIST QUICKENING TIME.

I really wasn't expecting much, but I just kepting on CHAINING with Vaan going solo! First was his 3 bar hit, another 3 bar hit, then his 2nd bar quickening, then a mist charge, followed by another mist charge, then I got the crappy 1 bar quickenings, I think I did like 2 of them, but all in all it was 7 hits chained. I was like, yeah I'm gonna shit my pants if this works.

And yes, concluded with an Inferno. Fucking Choas got owned like hell.

Fuck, Vaan, you're are 1000% cool now. Welcome to the team.

Shit, my fingers are still trembling :tpg:

PiccoloNamek Jan 11, 2007 12:39 AM

Remember, it is the length of the quickening chain that really counts; not which level quickenings you use.

Spatula Jan 11, 2007 12:58 AM

Yeah, I was willing to get whatever quickenings I could get, not caring so much of how powerful they are, because the main thing I wanted to finish off with was with a concurrence of basically any type, and for that case, even the humble inferno was able to take it out. I'm seriously thinking of granting Vaan this Chaos esper, since well, he was like the rookie that basically brought the trophy home. I just finished up replenishing my stock of Phoenix Downs (90 or so) and Remedies, as well as those Chronos Tears, mind as well. Originally, I was supposed to go hunt the Deathsycthe, but since Chaos was closer, I was like ah what the hell, let's do it. Let's just say I got quite the challenge, and a bit more, than I bargained for.

Also, that fatty chulu esper was a joke, 2nd easiest behind Zelera. He really didn't do much, besides invert, which was death, which was easy to patch up with a phoenix down. ;)

Why did he smile when he "died". Okay that was sort of creepy.

Why'd you ask? Because of the site on the previous page?

Anyways, way to go on Chaos, Spat. Looks like it came down to the wire there, heh. Hopefully you won't have to resort to that against Ultima or Zodiark. Those two definitely won't go down with an ad-hoc chain, especially the latter if he throws up a physical immunity paling at the last second.

BTW, for those who haven't fought Chaos, equip Bowline Sashes when he readies Aeroja, so you won't end up like Spatula here after every use.

Lionking-Cyan Jan 11, 2007 11:08 AM

I was wondering if you are french. Where people that visist this forum are from, and if they're Americans that can speak 2 or more language.

Drex Jan 11, 2007 11:11 AM

That's the sort of question you should be asking in a place other than the FF12 thread, then. I was wondering if that's what you meant, and let this play out as it has out of sheer curiosity. If you want to know about the geographical makeup of members of the board, make a thread about it in General Discussion! I don't think we've had one for a while. Plus bobo (the forum owner) has a thread about posting when English isn't your first language in the Community Commons, which would deal with part of your second question.

For the record, I'm an American that can speak 2 languages. And on that note, we resume our discussion of FF12.

Freelance Jan 11, 2007 11:16 AM

I am Ferretian :3

I haven't touched FFXII for a week now. I'd like

to, but my little sis wanted to play ToTA instead (we haven't won it yet), and she likes to play the entire night, so no time left for FFXII for me.

I'm hoping to continue FFXII after we win. She'll probably be swamped in homework soon to be able to play for long stretches anymore.

I think I need to stock up on new techs and spells and crap, 'cause I didn't bother too much with those, and it looks like they'll come in handy for the tougher Hunts and bosses.

Same here. BTW, does anyone know if there's some way of "curing" Reverse? Mentioning the fix for Chaos' Aeroja got me thinking about Ultima and Holyja. While I'm on this tangent, anyone remember what the effects were for each summon when they did their special? I'll list the ones I know:
  • Chaos, Walker of the Wheel: Aeroja (Confuse+Wind Damage)
  • Ultima, the High Seraph: Holyja (Reverse+Holy Damage)
  • Zodiark, Keeper of Precepts: Darkja (Random Death+Dark Damage)
  • Hashmal, Bringer of Order: Quakeja (???+???) I was floating, so I was completely immune to it
  • Zalera, the Death Seraph: (Never caught the name) (???+???)
  • Mateus, the Corrupt Blizzaja (Sap+Ice Damage):
  • Belias, the Gigas Firaja (Oil+Fire Damage):
  • Adrammelech, the Wroth Thundaja (???+Thunder Damage):
  • Cuchulainn, the Impure: (none?) (???+???)
  • Zeromus, the Condemner: (none?)
  • Exodus, the Judge-Sal: (none?)
  • Shemhazai, the Whisperer: (none?)
  • Famfrit, the Darkening Cloud (Go! Famfreet!): Waterja (Silence+Water Damage)

Lionking-Cyan Jan 11, 2007 11:42 AM

Mine was just churiosity. I don't see why your intuition made you think about some kind of racism :wrong: .
I asked 'cause i was wondering how some people could read that site.
And with thise note I resume to the ff12 discussion -.-. lol

It wasn't aeroja that hurt me, that only had a success rate of 50% of killing my guys, it was his spinng slap attack that koed me from 2000 hp to ZERO! :tpg:

Drex Jan 11, 2007 12:36 PM

Who said anything about racism?

Didn't Cuchulainn's cause Disable? I can't remember. I wish you'd asked this question a few days ago when I beat (the pitiful) Zeromus. I forgot he even existed, then stumbled upon him and kicked his trash. ^_^

Hmm, maybe they increased the prices/lowered the overall drop rate from the japanese version? Level up more if you need more money, because other than lookt and hunts, there aren't any other avenues for cash.
I just remembered that chocobo feathers "were" supposed to be REALLY expensive -in the jap version each one cost around 800 - 950 but in this english crap shait they only cost 430 ..... than the big tourtles in Gisa plains in the "hidden" area their shells cost 800 which Im quite impressed.

Ive got the golden amulet in the rabbit place ( you know Frans Ex villa ) and im trying to get my license full before I carry on to Mt. Bur Omisace.

( im killing those 19 flangs in henne mines and BLOODY HELL I get tons of lp lol )

Unless I'm completely mistaken, you can only buy this towards the end of the game. From the merchant in the small village in the Estersand. You might be able to steal it, get it as loot or find it in a chest before that though.

I never said the problem with Aeroja was it's effectiveness in offing your character, but it's confuse side effect. A battle seems that much harder when your allies are running around like decapitated chickens.

His physical is surpisingly strong for an Esper who mainly uses magic (I love that he, like Zodiark, uses the appropriate magic on enemies).

I don't think Cuchulainn or Zeromus even have a special, as those seem to be based on elements. Cuchulainn uses pulsar wave to inflict Disable, IIRC. Zeromus is a gravity freak is all.

Yup, looks like they tweaked the amount you get for items then. Doesn't matter, since I never had a problem with money in this game anyway (unlike, say, DQ8).

I got my first 2 or 3 from Mom Bombs in the Great Crystal, but you can buy them in the Dalmasca Estersand either before or after the Pharos.

And not to mention the Millennium Falcon and the Strahl, as well as the gun trotting Han Solo with his blaster, while Balthier and his default sidearm. Also note Han Solo's departure from service of the Imperial Navy, along with Balthier's
quite a big spoiler mid way through the game about his past:
role as an Arcadian Judge to just to name a few.

Cuchulainn just used a lot of immobilizga as well as invert, which really weren't that crippling. The first half of the battle was getting rid of the FOOBARS (god I love that name), while the second was just wailing on him.

Why is Chaos such a cheater. OH NO NO you can't use physical attacks, but watch him dish out with his "multi face slapper" as I called it. What a hypocrite. And Metal Sphere, yeah the first time he used a quickening, ALL my guys were confused and I was going - OH SHIT. I then equipped Fran with the anti confuse ward, while the others with bubble belts, so they can survive his onslaught of high hitting spells and such.

I like how basically everyone at Clan Centurio is like praising me now. I remember that hume that said “loool buddy u don’t know what end of a sword goes into an enemy”. Right there and then, I would have SO taken out a bastard sword and lopped his head off so fast. Or even better yet, tell him to join me on the Yiazmat hunt and then show me his skills. Such an arrogant slob.

A few questions.

1st question.

So how do you thnk of Zeromus and the other espers before Chaos, are they easier?

2nd question.

I'll need to get lots of X potions for the non-magical fight with Zeromus or whoever else it is. Where should I get X potions from, and how much?

3rd question.

Speaking of hunts, I’m going to wrap up the deathsycthe hunt, but that’s not too bad, I’m even thinking of going after our 10000 armed friend Gilgamesh. Any tips from him? I hear there are several stages. Should I just use steal or pouch or mug or what have you? When should I use these? Is my current level sufficient to take him on? We’re looking at mid 50’s levels for my three main guys.

No, not really. Most people who have brought up the Star Wars comparison have been... stretching it, to say the least.

Yeah, he's a pushover. Just be happy it didn't use crap like Curse or Pox, which would've been appropriate seeing as how he's "The Impure" and all.

Bah, quit your whining. If you thought that was bad (aka: cheating) Ultima's going to piss you off as she changes the field conditions (lol uber slow characters, MP drain, HP drain, no magic, no items, no attack, over and over) and she drops Holyja dookie on you at regular HP intervals (inflicts reverse). So your healing gambits will kill you.

Or Darkja spamming that can (and will) off your entire active party.

Yes

Archades? Get 99 of them, that sounds like a good plan.

Try it, but the monsters in Site 11 are 58-ish, and the Aeronites on the bridge to get there are 60. Just beware, that's all. Oh and there's a crazy rare game called Disma that spawns near the save crystal before the room where he is. It's way stronger than the other monsters, so watch out for it. Make sure you steal from him at the start of the fight, and every time he pulls out a new sword.

The second battle, make sure you have a prime level, or else he'll hit you with a bunch of Level. X crap.

Tomahawk Jan 11, 2007 02:26 PM

God, Gilgamesh is such a pain in the ass.
The first time you face him on the bridge, he can unleash an attack that KOs a character. As long as you got Arise, no probs. Oh, and the patience to wait for his physical barrier to wear off as well.

However, the 2nd time
Spoiler:
you play him outside the Staging Shaft, he doesn't use his OHKO attack but performs series of 2-4 hit combos. That damn dog of his is volatile this time too - "Fly, Enkinou" can inflict a serious amount of damage to a character.

When you manage to get rid of Enkinou, Gilgamesh will do a series of Level spells against your party: Level 2 Sleep, Level 3 Disable, Level 5 Petrify.

Before you fight Gilgamesh the 2nd time around for the Masamune, I suggest your characters to be Levels which are NOT divisible by 2, 3 or 5.
Which leaves us at : Level 53, 59, 61, 67, 71, 73, 77, 79, 83, 89, 91, 97
