Would someone like to post the links to the trailer in the Halo 3 update thread? I don't want to be taking credit for something I didn't originally post...

I just read this on IGN and I thought I would share this w/ the rest of yall...

Brutes a playable and a new trailer coming out on the 20th w/ gameplay??

Vampiro Dec 17, 2006 08:45 AM

Don't hold your breath for that supposed two minutes of gameplay. And I just highly doubt the Brutes will be playable. If a video does come out, I bet it will be based on the Brutes... but mainly for single player.

When I talked to Jaime Greissmer (or whatever the producer is called) he said that Brutes are absolutely a nono, seeing as they are too big to make the game balanced. Than God, says I..

I would love to see some close to finished in game videos. I wanna see what the game will look like with a near finished or finished coat of paint.

I have a feeling, if the shield grenades were just originally intended for teaser eye-candy, after the reception it got they might just try really damn hard to include it now.

Though I doubt there will be a sprint function. Halo has always been a "slower" game (as in walking speed before anyone says "ZOMG NUH-UH!")

Double Post:
Oh and here's the Brute documentary: http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/8082

Enjoy.

I agree about the slower pacing in Halo (It's no Unreal Tournament), but a sprint option with the same feel as the "roadie run" in Gears of War would work great on larger maps. It would help even things out when someones heading off with your flag.

What's up, Mongoose/Spartan Laser. Or if they added a mobility rating to guns and whatnot, you could do away with the need for a sprint function, while adding depth and strategy. Got some bitch running away with your flag? Do you drop the sniper rifle, pull out your pistol and run, or keep it and hope for a decent shot?

Anywho, dodge seems to be solved with some of the new maps. Instead of wide open fields, you have a ton of rocks to hide behind. And with a possible inclusion of a shield-grenade... well, there you go.

This is a great idea, but Halo is a weird game to tweak when it comes to mobility. You say make the sniper user in Halo slower, but how many times do you actually stand still while sniping in Halo? If anything your point blank dodging and no scoping.

Im not sure how the new weapons and vehicles will change gameplay, and how abundant they will be on the maps, but I hate being the guy out in no mans land without a vehicle, or sniper watching the guy get away with your flag.

This is more noticable with 8 vs 8 games on massive maps. Theres so many people, and so much map to cover, that you find yourself saying fuck it when people get your flag, and head over the hill in the distance.

Exactly. You don't stand still and basically treat the thing like an one-shot-kill battle rifle. If you slow them down and force them to act like snipers, then you actually have to consider and think about what to do.

That would be the way to go if this was a new game, but its Halo, and to do that would completely change the Halo combat formula. Something you dont wanna do when it comes to a game of this magnitude.

Sounding like a fanboy right now, but Im just trying to look at it from the hardcore players point of view.

Vampiro Dec 21, 2006 03:06 PM

Yeah, I figured as much. But any addition can potentially have quite a substantive impact on the game, even a new grenade type, weapon, or whatever the X button does. Implemented correctly though, it could be an excellent addition which hardcore gamers might grow to appreciate.

Furby Dec 21, 2006 03:08 PM

By the mobility rating, you're basically saying... "Make it CS, where the knife/pistol let you run fast but the heavier guns slow you down?"

Personally, I wouldn't like that I think it's fine the way it is.

Pretty much. Personally I don't see why people would take issue with it *shrugs*

Furby Dec 21, 2006 07:09 PM

I guess some people want it more realistic but in all honesty.. It's a video game.. it's not meant to be full realistic.

*AkirA* Dec 21, 2006 11:39 PM

It would also sort of clash plot wise. Master Chief flips tanks like it ain't no thang, so carrying a large weapon shouldnt hinder him at all.

Furby Dec 21, 2006 11:47 PM

Good point on that one, I didn't even think of that point.
