Heh, I tolerate it b/c I expected it and I think it's funny. I wonder how they'll respond to page 5. ='D

So which is it? I missed the european conference, since eurogamer wasn't loading worth shit and I don't think there'll be anything of it on gamespot.

First I've heard of that, but if true: indeed! Although I might get an American Wii anyway for personal reasons, I'd obviously like to know for sure whether the console is region-free or not.

Oh hells yeah! Looks like Telltale Games will hopefully be putting Sam & Max on Virtual Console!

Thanks to readers at their website, they managed to get Nintendo's attention and now are in talks with Nintendo to spread the wonder of Sam & Max even further. =)

Double Post:
Well details don't specify Virtual Console but since the games are in episodes it only seems logical. I don't know exactly how big the games are though so who knows how that would work. Here are more details:

Oh my God, Sam & Max.

I find it odd that my Wii might come with a DOS emulator. And I wonder what the pricing might be. Not that it would really matter. I mean SAM AND MAX.

Prime Blue Sep 15, 2006 10:32 PM

Thanks for the info, Acer!
BlueMikey, I don't think they're talking about "Hit the Road" but rather the new game, "Episode 1".
But I'd be the first to get "Hit the Road" on Wii. :)

FatsDomino Sep 15, 2006 10:39 PM

BM, I'm not talking about Hit the Road from LucasArts. I'd love it if LucasArts sold their old adventure games for the Virtual Console. It'd be a very smart idea on their part. However, that's not what this news is about. Perhaps we should all email LucasArts about that though. =)

BlueMikey Sep 15, 2006 10:41 PM

Oh my god. I am so out of the loop.

Sam and Max. Sam and Max. <3

Protom@nNeo Sep 15, 2006 10:47 PM

Nintendo spoke earlier of letting home brews and the like appear on the Wii for download. If said games were calibrated properly there is no reason we couldn't see anything. Old Sierra adventure games or remakes would be awesome, in my humble opinion.

HostileCreation Sep 15, 2006 11:16 PM

I would pay twenty dollars for Grim Fandango on Virtual Console. I've wanted that game for ages, never can find it. Tried downloading it once, that failed miserably.

Infernal Monkey Sep 16, 2006 02:02 AM

Wow, that was quick. Apparently the team had contacted Nintendo ages ago requesting a dev kit and got no response, they start up a FANZ MAKE SOME NOISE thing and now they're set. This cannot be, online petitions never work.

We need some

God I cannot wait for SMB:BB!

Why does the token female monkey look like she's just recieved a suprise anal sex entry from her backside? :edgartpg:

Infernal Monkey Sep 16, 2006 02:10 AM

Maybe they're aiming for the more mature market this time. Surprise anal sex mini-game confirmed! It'd work so well with the controller. =x

FatsDomino Sep 16, 2006 02:11 AM

I'm really enjoying how they took a simple approach with coverart logos. It's just a thin bar and a corner for all that. Anything else is blank space for coverart and esrb and company logos. So much better than PS3 and its blu-ray and PS3 giant logos taking up. This cover design is a vast improvement from their E3 offerings. =)

What the FUCK is this shit.
Quote:

GameStop will start accepting pre-orders for the PS3/Wii on MONDAY SEPTEMBER 18. This will last for ONE WEEK only. Any store can and will stop taking pre-orders at any time (most likely when their limit is reached). I have been advised (and I advise you) to go to the store on Monday and get your pre-order in.

GameStop is NOT ACCEPTING cash, or store credit for your down payment on a pre-order. You HAVE to trade in games or accessories when you pre-order. It must total $50 or more, and it will all go towards your system pre-order. Any money you put down after $50 can be credit, cash, or whatever else GameStop/EB accepts. This applies for both the Wii and the PS3.

Any promotions on game trade-ins active during your pre-order transaction can be used toward this pre-order stuff. That means that you can take advantage of the "trade 3 games and get $10 extra" offer currently being held at GameStop/EB.

You are GUARANTEED to get a Wii, but the date you get it IS NOT GUARANTEED (he specifically told me that you are not guaranteed to get your system on launch or anytime during the Christmas season).

Stores are going to give out launch systems based on chronological pre-order order. That means if you are the first one to pre-order/reserve your Wii, you will be the first one to get a Wii on launch day.

Reservations are limited to 1 per household.

If you want to know what exactly the text says at the bottom of the flyer, here it is: "Cash or Store Credit will not be accepted. Reservations of the PlayStation 3 or Nintendo Wii are limited to one (1) reservation/purchase per household."

And the text near the GameStop logo at the bottom: "All trades must be in working condition and are subject to manager approval. As GameStop cannot control production and shipping issues by the manufacturer, the reservation deposit will only gurantee a spot in line when the PlayStation 3 or Nintendo Wii becomes available. The reservation deposit does not guarantee reciept of a system available to purchase by Christmas."
GAMESPOT/EB CAN SUCK MY BALLS.

...if true.

Yeah I just came in about to rant about this crap too! If it is true, I think i'll just preorder at toys 'r us or purchase it online.

JazzFlight Sep 16, 2006 02:26 AM

Now that I'm reading more about the Gamestop thing, it has a high probability of being fake.

Mainly because it's so sudden, and people who work at EB/Gamestop haven't really heard of it.

Examples of their trade-in prices. I dunno. Sounds like a rip-off.

Double Post:
Oh looks like the thread for that is gone now. Perhaps it was just a rumor. =o

Well I went to Gamestop today and got a flyer about the whole trade-in thing. So either some stores were left in the dark of they are just incompetent.

Anyways, the less people who reserve from Gamestop, the better my chances of getting a Wii at launch. I need to thin out my DVD/game collection anyway.

Oh, and this is the scan of the flyer I got:

TheReverend Sep 16, 2006 06:55 AM

I wonder what kind of tradein you can get for a Gamecube :D.

Pez Sep 16, 2006 07:31 AM

A weather channel is awesome. Imagine: raining today, raining in Animal Crossing. Yeah.

Price wise, even the Australian price of ~$400 is still $100 cheaper than the Core X360, and significantly cheaper than a $999 PS3 both of which comes without a game (+~$100). While there’s a fair bit of whining about the pricing being too expensive, very few have flat out said it’s going to be a significant deterrent to NOT purchasing a Wii (in terms of people interested in purchasing consoles). I suppose all that means is that while there is some disappointment with the pricing, the deal isn’t raw enough to to dampen sales enthusiasm and deter buyers.

TheReverend Sep 16, 2006 07:37 AM

Just saw this on IGN's website... They have a hands-on of "Wii Play"in NYC. This is more than most likely the same game as the Japanese and European games which come packed in with a wiimote,
Quote:

From the European Show -
Wii Play - which enables novices to get the hang of the controller. It'll be bundled with a second controller. Just like the Japanese 'My First Wii' package in fact.

Source
As far as I'm concerned, as long as Nintendo has a Wiimote packed in with this game at $40-$50, I'm very happy with the lack of 2 controllers in the box. This would mean that for about $310($320)+tax, you can have a Wii, 2 Wiimotes with chucks, WiiSports, and WiiPlay. Add in Zelda for $50 and you have a new system with 3 games, 2 controllers for under $400. Not bad at all.

Please, have WiiPlay packed with Wiimote.....

That's a great idea. However I would hope that would just be a fun option because if you don't live in a temperate zone then you'll end getting the same damn weather in your village all year round. It would be amusing to set the weather for wherever you want though.

"Let's move the village to Hawaii! =D"
"Yeah!"
"Now Alaska!"
"Yeah!"
Now the moon!"
"What?"

Infernal Monkey Sep 16, 2006 07:43 AM

=o I'd set it to a five hundred degrees so as soon as a game loads you just see fire, and Mr. Resetti pleading for you to NOT save for once.

Also I think I must post this.

map car man words telling me to do things Sep 16, 2006 08:51 AM

Ahem. So I'm assuming it was actually confirmed the Wii really will be region free instead of just a lot of people hoping it will be and saying so?

If so, has there been any word on whether gamecube games will still be region restricted?

Infernal Monkey Sep 16, 2006 08:59 AM

There's a lot of magical confusion about it now. Nintendo America says it'll be region free. But Nintendo Europe said it's not. =\
