Poles aren't tricky at all. They're just a regular weapon that strike M. Def instead of W. Def. They're the only 2H weapon that actually combos better than the Masamune (which is why I would give the Genji Gloves to a pole user, if I had them). Spears, I don't use because the Gungnir is actually rather weak, and slower than swords, bows. They've got slightly longer range, but in a team with a bow, that's not a good thing (as they're stuck in the middle). The Grand Crystal? While seanne's advice is correct, the basic gist of what you have to do is open Virgo II, Capricorn II, Libra II and Taurus I. Open the first 3 before going to the Aquarius switch to trigger it. |
Can I say that Carrot was bloody easy? He barely did anything. Oooh stop and a few pansy status effects, I'm scared of that. Yeah, wrapped up that level VII mark pretty easily. I'm in the Nabreus Deadlands now, pretty easy place so far. The troll guys are doing maybe 300-500 damage to my guys which have about 6000-7000 with bubble accesory, while I deal about 1500-2000 per hit. The skeletons do even less damage. So I'm planning on taking down 4 marks today, 1 already down - Carrot. The rest are the two golems and then the Deathscythe.

Hot stufff
WOOOOOOOOOOOP WOOOOOOOOOOP, Son just confirmed Final Fantasy 13 will also be avaiable on ps2; ''Final Fantasy to us is not just a game, it's a way of life. So for this reason we will release it to the Playstation Two aswell, the console that brought it to life.' Hironobu Sakaguchi.

That would be more appropriate for this thread. Also, why bother playing it on the PS2. It's like playing Rainbow Six Vegas on PS2. :psyduck: Can someone tell me what I should do with the red crystal bug in the Deadlands. I don't have invert. |

So yeah, just approach it like you would an optional boss or something. |

Holy shit... why did they have to make Tower so damn hard to spawn? Here's what I'm doing:
Killing everything on the 80th floor then using the Black Sigil to get to the next floor. I kill everything there, and then use the hidden Green Sigil to move on. In the next area, I take down the Aeronite and use the red Sigil which takes me to a platform with 2 more of the ghoulish looking dragons. After those are taken care of, I touch the purple sigil and wind up on the level with the hidden white waystone. Of course, everything is dead before I go on up, and Tower is supposed to be there on the 88th floor. Nothing I must be doing something wrong, or it has a lower spawn rate than when I saw it before, because it hasn't appeared in about an hour and a half's worth of up and down. |

I like how I fought the Goliath, and basically got wasted. I got Fran to high tail it out of there. Why is Necrohol of Nabudis hard. I'm about half way done the Medallion quest. Metal Sphere, that crystal bug constantly casts restore on itself, giving it back up to maximum HP - that's what is making it hard. |
Spoiler:
Beyond that, at this point is there ANY decent way to make money quickly? I'm very behind on Technick/Magick purchasing, and some of them look really nice (Horology). I just got to the Jahara, for those who haven't looked at the spoiler~ Fun game, though, already at 20 hours. |

- There's a Rank 3 Esper and 2 bosses in the area - It's where the Nethicite shard that the Nabudis family held was used, ground zero of the destruction. With all that mist, it's no wonder that the monsters are stronger. On top of that, you have a lot of people who were killed in an instant, with regrets and all. A lot of the monsters there are either formed from people's regrets, undying patriotism (like the Deathscythe), and so on. Oh, and the Baknamy are equipped with Demonsbanes and Demon Shields, and they seem to have the same effects on them as they do on you when you equip them. Quote:
Also, if you have Reflectga + Aga spells and Opal rings, hit it with the Reflect trick too. Getting hit 3-9 times by magic is enough to slaughter most enemies. This is all assuming you don't have Reverse, since you can just cast that before he uses Restore. Oh, and in other news... Bestiary Completed I was getting unbelievably bored running through the last few levels of the Pharos waiting for this thing to appear, and right when I was changing the song in winamp during the warp to the 88th floor, it appears. Tower is fucking huge. At first I thought the damn TV had screwed up, but then I realized it was just a gigantic Babil blocking the way to the elevator. It was actually fun to fight, so much so that I fiicked on the required gambits to do the Reflect trick, and wasted him with Darkga x 9. Apparently, you don't need to finish the second page for each monster to finish the bestiary, just kill the required number. I still need 10 mandragora as I said before and a Garif. Ba'Gamman's in the Den playing some board game against Migelo while Old Dalan watches. The title you earn for getting him in there is Scrivener. Now the only thing left before I get Order of Ambrosia is Whiteout. The closest I've managed was four Rank 3 quickenings, the last one never comes... Order of Ambrosia ...is what my sister pointed out to me while I was hurriedly making my way to the Clan Primer to check out the Gabranth figure. I'd completely forgotten about it, since I was so focused on getting that last thing in there. After finishing the bestiary, I went to the Nameless Spring map in the Tchita Uplands, and turned off my gambits. A few minutes go by and I can't get a chain of 5 rank III to form, but soon enough I manage it (the game got very generous and gave me Mist Charges + Rank III after charging) and got Whiteout. Check the Den? Nothing. Then I hop onto the computer and check Children of Ivalice, and aside from the messed up order in which they have Luminescence and Whiteout, they have a good list. Seems like I'd never done Windburst, so I give a shot and nail it in under 10 minutes. I'm pretty damn please with myself, but I'm going to go to the clan HQ and get my worthless badge. I'll see if I can get a picture of it soon. |

Nah, don't level up on the crystal, as once it's gone, it's gone for good. Just saying that if you can't cripple it outright with the above techniques, go back to the save crystal, save and head to Overlooking Eternity and level off of them. It'd only take a few levels for you to trounce him with ease, anyway. Did the reflect and nihopalaoa tricks work, or have you not tried it yet? |
What. There is no Waterga and Earth spells despite my Libra stating WEAK TO EARTH ELEMENTS, PLEASE INSERT COIN TO OPERATE EARTHQUAKE. What the fuck is that. Sorry but that's an instant fail for magick in this game. What is the Nihopalaoa (lol is this Hawaiian). Maybe I'm just not used to this challenge which is why I'm freaking out. I don't like the FOOBARS either - more like FUBARS - amirite.
Anyways, going to watch some anime like a sweaty otaku and then maybe come back to FFXII later tonight, or even past midnight. |

And don't hate on the Foobars, for they are a most excellent source of the Sagittarius gems that you need to create the Sagittarius bow, the best one in the game (made of pure sex and long range). Quote:

Yeah, lack of high-level water and any earth spells is pretty disappointing. I was waiting for quake before I realized that it wasn't on the license board. :( The Nihopaolioahe thing is the one that reverses the effect of curative effects - so if the character with it equipped uses a Remedy on an enemy, every status affliction that Remedy typically cures will now be his.
EDIT: owned. :( |

Now, until the local shop gets Okami in, I'll try to get a Danjuro or a Yagyu Darkblade (20 Chain, no blade). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../Ambrosia1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Force/Den1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Force/Den2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Force/Den3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...rce/Badge1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...rce/Badge2.jpg |
Over 12,000,000 clan hunt points. Oh shit.

Hopefully Rogue Galaxy, which is available later this month, will give me just as many good times as FFXII. |
You need to get Okami soon. All in all, I enjoyed Okami more than FFXII. I've already been through it three times (it's that good), so I'm full of tips and hints if you happen to get stuck. :D

Sweet. That's one seriously full den. Good work. I doubt I'll be dedicated enough to do that myself, but major props to you.

At least I know where to go if I need some tips or advice. Oops, OT. How did you chain the Bombshells without accidentally offing a bat? I have no idea how many damn chains were broken because of that. Quote:
Edit: Damn, owned. Heh, looks like you got your revenge. Determination? Nah, just the perfectionist in me (which is still nagging to get that remaining Garif and those mandragora). Oh, and my curiosity to see where and what the last two sprites in the den would be doing. Makes me yearn for a FFXII sprite-version or something. |

If it's good enough, we may see more games taking place in XII's Ivalice. |
Just for the hell of it, since I knew it was the only concurrence I hadn't yet performed, when I fired up FFXII tonight I immediately threw a level 3 quickening on the nearest mob in Giruvegan to see if I could pull off Whiteout.
First attempt: 1) Pyroclasm off the bat 2) 1 quick shuffle, Flame Purge 3) Resplendance with no shuffle (at this point I start to figure I'm lucky just to get the first 3 level 3's off that quickly) 4) lots of shuffles... no dice until I'm at less than one second and I don't get a level 3 on the mist charge I do get... attempt over Second attempt: 1) Shatterheart off the bat 2) Element of Treachery with no shuffle 3) 1 quick shuffle, Maelstrom Bolt 4) shuffle, Mist Charge for Ashe, gets level 1, quickly shuffle again, gets Maelstrom again... (getting slightly excited knowing I'm one lucky level 3 away from nailing it) 4) lots of shuffles... Fran gets Mist Charge... just a level one, I fire it off in my state of overexcitement... about 1 second left... 5) Balthier gets Mist Charge without a need for shuffle... and wouldn't you know it, Element of Treachery, mission complete! So yeah, I got Whiteout on my second attempt (about 4 minutes spent total), not trying to brag or anything since it's totally just random luck, but after what I'd read on this thread, it was a little humourous =9. |
