No problem. I'm fairly certain that if Skills and Garr focus attack on the scout, he'll be dead in two turns (dice willing). But then again, if Helga doesn't have appreciably more HP than a scout, she'd probably be dead too.
With her multi-target attacks, she's currently the most dangerous. Still, if we can help it, I think we should try to prevent any duergar from escaping. We certainly didn't need the extra aggravation of this encounter being harder than usual as a result of the Rundarr battle escapes. Pangy, I have several questions (
Also! I have been looking through the Adventurer's Vault, and am covetous of things I cannot hope to afford. I have made the following wish list , which of course you have no obligation to fulfill. Still, I post it in the vain hope that you might be otherwise moved to add one of these to any future loot which we might fortuitously stumble upon! And yet another edit! Shall we just open the door and see what huge thing lurks behind? Based on Pang's description, it's gotta be big, is neither dwarven nor a beast (since it understands Common), and distantly related to orcs - maybe an ogre of some sort. If not, then we might want to physically block the exit. I think Pang's positioning the Duergar Guard to make a run for it once Helga dies, opportunity attacks from Gheth be damned. And finally, do you folks want to take a 5-minute rest after the battle, or do we immediately see if we can assist the orcs in the next room? |
Since Doorman is basically in this situation because of Glock's influence, I'm going to let Skills handle his turn unless a spectator wants to jump in.
http://www.saxypunch.com/missile/orcdoorman.png Please note he's already down to 1/2 HP from getting smacked around by the troll. Quote:
2. Minor, Minor, Depends On The Method 3. At double run speed, Cal can move 16 squares so he could theoretically end up at... Z4? 4. If you were to go prone next to them, probably. Otherwise probably not. 5. I am not sure Cal has the physical strength to use teeth as an effective stabbing weapon. They're teeth, not razorblades. They could impose weakness I suppose 6. She's a dwarf (she has a hammer [dwarves have hammers] ) 7. You answer your own question. We don't really do wishlists here, not the least because some of you (not naming names!) have certain tendencies toward munchkinism and I just know that handing you whatever gear you asked for would result in an infinite-damage combo loop within weeks. |
Big humongous new monster.
... Any chance the orcs have damaged him some, before they died? Even a little bit? :3: So how many encounters are we fighting here... :O |
This is one encounter, Zerg. You are not getting bonus AP out of this.

Hate to bring this up for the billionth time but...
Troll defenses please and thanks? |
I'm always willing to jump in as an NPC, but if skills wants it he can have it. i'm only two deaths / toboggan runs from playing anyway, but still.

I dunno how fast that thing can move, but I'm going to stick with killing the bloodied creatures for now, and hopefully clear the air a bit.

Regarding Doorman.
Does Warrior's Surge use up his one and only healing surge? It doesn't specify EXACTLY but considering the heal value I assume it does. I only ask because if he does that then my other healing options for BEST FRIEND DOORMAN become useless! |
Zerg, let me make sure I understand your post.
You shift to V-5 as a reaction. Okay, fine. Then you fire off a Careful Attack at Helga. http://www.saxypunch.com/missile/umwhat.png Sure. Then you sprint over to AB-1, where your molecules merge with Garrmondo's as you occupy the same space. While the fusion is occurring, you attack Helga again in an unspecified manner. You already attacked during this turn, so you spend an action point. Then you take an AoO from Helga for using your bow at melee range. THEN you run back to the bridge, necessitating that you pass by Ortak (having somehow avoided it on the way to your date with Garr) and take another AoO. Additionally, having already moved and attacked this turn, you spend another AP in order to perform this second move. Is this correct? I don't want to move ahead if I'm misunderstanding you. Skills, his Warrior's Surge oddly does not specify that he uses his Healing Surge, so I guess he has one on top of that. |
Sorry Pang, slight typo there. It's a bit more straightforward than that, promise. I wrote AB-1 when I meant AB-5 :(
http://upload.jetsam.org/images//DnDtypo.jpg I basically interjected a standard action between a move action (move 6 squares, fire off at-will attack, finish movement at 8 squares). If it's illegal, I won't mind one bit if you forfeit the missed attack so I get my arrow back :D Is a knowledge check considered a standard action? I'm thinking I'd like to do a nature check on the troll, see if Cal knows what makes it tick. Take 10 if possible. Oh! And thanks for the gift, Pangsy :) |
Yeah, you can't pause a move action and then resume it like that, so I guess you'll just spend your turn fleeing.
Knowledge checks are free actions — either you know or you don't, you aren't actually doing anything other than racking your brain. |
So gang, we has a trolls that can regenerate if not hit with fire or acid. None of us have any at-will attacks with those, I don't think. Other than Garr's firebombs and Glock's explosives which lack sulfur, what other resources do we have?
Lure the troll into the hearth or something, and push him in? |
Does anyone have arrows? Light that shit on fire.
|
I have arrows, but realistically it takes some time to heat up the metal arrowhead... :(
We don't have any oil either, do we? I'd vote for diplomacy but Pang already turned down two such attempts. Not gonna work. Say, Glock threw some ale into the bridge. Is that stuff flammable? Edit: Sorry Skills. Just doing idle speculation. Unless we has a plan, I'm not actually going to do anything other than give piercings to duergar scouts :) |
Stop overthinking and ruining the plans I have going already, Zerg, damn.
I told you to let me handle it |
Just kill this guy already. And I don't mean the trolls.
|
Notwithstanding that his ability to remember that you can do knowledge checks is the only immediately obvious reason why this fight won't end with an effectively immortal giant pounding you into the dirt while you all go buh
Okay, yeah, player knowledge, but that's lame as hell Yeah Zerg has kind of a problem with overanalysis but analyzing anything at all is not so bad unless you're into the whole party-wipe thing. |

Ah, but we are now operating under the Lurker Protocol of May 2009, which states:
Deus Ex Machina devices preventing the total annihilation of the party shall not be employed save after the death of 1 or more characters in a given combat. Besides, basically every NPC in this burg has either been mooned or had robot cock waved at them, it's basically down to Gheth calling in direct divine intercession if you get boned. I have no objection in principle to the total slaughter of the party, Deni. It's just kind of ruined for me if I achieve it purely because they were too busy giving each other wedgies to actually pay attention. Don't kill yourselves. Let me kill you. :( |
"You walk into a room."
"What's in it?" "Fifteen elder red dragons." "...oh." "And a Beholder." "Can we run?" "If you want." "We run." "Are you sure?" "Um... yes?" "Too bad. The wizard turned the door into a portal to the abyss. You're dead." "What wizard?!" "He was hiding. Tough luck." |
Deni, there's totally a way you can kill me in swift horrible ways. Get your game running, and I promise I'll sign up :)
|
That's no challenge. Everyone dies in Shadowrun. Besides, given how little I'm around these days, it'd be the slowest game on the face of the planet.
