A monitor with HDCP, not HDMI.
Doesn't matter if the monitor has HDMI or just DVI wither way it NEEDS the -> HDCP <- copy protection support. |

you need a TV or monitor that support HDCP because if you don't, all you get is a black screen.
I tried with my computer monitor and it didn't worked :\ |
Did you try it with component (RGB) cables or HDMI/DVI? The digital signal will not work, but if you connect component cables to your monitor, you should still be able to run the PS3 on it, albeit with a maximum resolution of 720p.
|
I tried it with the HDMI/DVI.
my PC monitor doesn't have the component input though... |
You guys saved me from making a big mistake. The ones that I've seen didn't have HDCP support. I'll start searching for one that it has. Thanks everyone.
|
well like quazy said, you can use your ps3 with component cable and enjoy the 720p HD resolution on a TV that don't support HDCP.
when you need to check for HCDP TV is when you want to use the HDMI output. |

LAIR and HS demos BOTH this week!!
I hope... lol |
for anyone who cares, heavenly sword's demo is in store now ^^
I'm downloading it but god it's slow XD |
Heavenly Sword is worthless. Can someone tell me why the demo is 2 minutes. It's also cool how there isn't a block button, when ten guys jump you at once.
It's just an unpolished God of War. |

Ummmm... you do know that there are three stances right Megalith? Also between thoes stances you can do parry and counter moves, who the hell needs block.
P.S. Devil May Cry doesn't have a block either. Which therefore makes HS more like a DMC game then a GoW game. It doesn't simply make it bad. (However I do have yet to play the demo) Lastly this is the Gamer's Day demo, NOT the E3 '07 demo, therefore if you read a lot of game site's opinions on the two, you'll see that they all agree that the E3 '07 demo was WAY better, and definately a LOT more completed |
Ooof. Playing with the thought of whether I should get a PS3 now or not. The 60 gig is the last model with the Emotion chip installed, meaning future PS3s will be inferior and not nearly as backwards-capable.
Would ya'll recommend I spend the cash just to have it? The main thing holding me back is the fact that there'll probably be a PSP2 and that'll probably homebrew PS2 games as nicely as the PSP does for PS1. I've got the cash, easy, but that's still a hefty cash just to "have" a system :U |

I'm kinda in the same position. I like how it looks, but I wasn't as big a fan as other people of the Rogue Squadron games, so I'm wondering how well the gameplay will turn out. |
The EE is essentially obsolete in the PS3. I think software emulation will take over, when they try to advance the scaling and texture mapping of PS1/2 titles.
Thank god I don't have an ugly ass chrome stripe on my PS3. |
Well, I've heard gripes about the software emulation on the 360 being very glitchy/clumsy, so I was concerned if the PS3 would tread down the same path... With only Barbie games being backwards capable =o
|
the PAL ps3 already have the software emulation and the emulation is already 10 time better then the 360 one. It's really not as bad as everyone is thinking and in the long run like megalith said, software emulation has the potential to be really better than hardware.
As for heavenly sword demo, I was yes disappointed by the length of it, but after playing it a few time and really master the combat system, I have to say that this game is just amazing ^^ and yes if your in the right position and in the right stance, she automatically block attack and when she block you can counter attack with triangle. When the enemy is flashing blue you have to be in speed stance and when they glow orange you have to be in power stance (hold R1) and red attack are unblockable you evade them with the right stick. Like Slayer X said, this game is more like DMC where you evade attack and counter them. |
Ok. Is the PSN Store going really slow, or is something wrong with my internet. The HS demo download has been going for the past 8 hours while I was at work, and it's only at 6%. Maybe I should put all of my porn torrents on hold for a night...
|
I downloaded it in less than 20 minutes.
Just pause Cum In My Asshole 9. |
I almost wish the dev's didn't release a Heavenly sword demo as it was so underwhelming that i've cancelled my pre-order and instead of it being a must-buy game it is now a wait-till-reviews roll in and maybe i'll buy.
The controls were horribly sluggish and at numerous occasions it was plagued by framerate slowdown. Which is something that shouldn't occur due to the ability to install supposedly " essential " files onto the HDD to alleviate such things according to Sony. Given that the demo was running purely off your HDD, i shutter to think about how bad the framerate slowdown can get when th full game is released. Also before any of you come out with the lame excuse " it's just a demo ". Given that the game is 2 months away from release, the demo is most likely a fine replica of the final build. The Rope running part was pretty sweet lookin, but they really needed to throw in some variety instead of press left/right and tap X as fast as possible. The Moveset was pretty fuckin gay except for the counter moves which were downright sweet and jaw-droppingly awesome. Although the awesomeness of these counter moves is somewhat dwindled by the fact that the game for some reason has a random off/on switch for blood that you can't control. Hit a enemy with your sword and you see some blood gush, do it again, you don't see any and the killer being that you do a counter move on an enemy that culminates in him taking your two swords to the crotch and when his crotch finally has that dreadful meeting with your swords; their is nary a drop of blood in sight. Lame. Overall, i'm extremely disappointed with the demo. |
I'll agree that it wasn't the best demo that they could've released since it from a LOOOONG time ago. Actually I believe that it was the first playable demo of the game for the press, but I could be wrong. Point is that the demo is like a 60 - 70% completed build of the game and therefore you shouldn't take too much of it other then the concept of the game from the demo.
That said, this demo should have been the E3 '07 build or nothing to avoid reactions like Megalith's and Iwata's. Meh, guess time will tell the true damage or gain this demo has caused when the game comes out. |
No, you are right. This demo is from very early this year. People say the E3 one was much better. I have no idea why they would release this one over that one... filesize is all I can think of.
|
It takes time for a demo to go through all the quality checks to be released on a console. It's not really a simple and fast process. Not that it's an excuse for releasing an inferior demo, but it's most likely the reason.
|
Agreed. This is likely very different from the final build. However, I didn't notice the slowdown Iwata claims to have seen after I stopped downloading other movies from the store.
I was downloading the MGS4 gameplay trailer, which was unbelievable and jaw-dropping, during my first playthrough of the demo, and after it finished any slowdown or frame skips were non-existent. In any case, I'm going in to work tomorrow and since I've got it pre-ordered at my own store, I'll being paying it off in full. |
