Virtue of Cunning, indeed.

Zergrinch Nov 17, 2009 05:37 AM

That was beautiful :twitch:

Pang must be sobbing right about now.

The unmovable stubborn Nov 17, 2009 05:56 AM

Do you propose, dear Zergrinch, when Acer tells me of his cunning plan (as he was fool enough to do), that I do not immediately act to minimize its impact?

Do you not notice when I herald the impending introduction of reinforcements in the very first round?

Celebrate while you may.

There are 19 more enemies in the structure.

Do ration your resources accordingly.

Nineteen monsters? Oh dear.

Have mercy man. People would start to think you're actively trying to kill us :(

FatsDomino Nov 17, 2009 07:39 AM

Yeah, I kind of wanted to make sure this plan would, you know, work before I got myself launched alone into enemy territory. I made sure I wouldn't provoke attack of opportunity when I landed and how a bunch of other mechanics work for the play. Pang was cool enough to go along with it and explain what was right and wrong. Even though I'll probably get hit badly by something over there this was totally worth it.

Skexis Nov 17, 2009 02:10 PM

I forgot to add in my last post, Acer: D'awwwwwww

Also, I've been meaning to ask this for some time, but what is the bbl code for the little drop down menus that you guys use? That might come in handy for Zerg's graphs and if I ever have to do proof pictures.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Nov 17, 2009 04:08 PM

To put it in terms you'd understand, Zerg, a Theurge is a red mage. Arcane and Divine spells, but low HP.

Makes me useless though, almost all my attacks are vs. Will, and their will is retarded high.

Actually Garr, you did hit him.

Zergrinch Nov 17, 2009 08:19 PM

Tide of Iron: 8 + 12 = 20 vs 20 (tie). Is that a hit?

Also, I has a request! Do leave one duergar alive, for harvesting and interrogation purposes. :)

Checklist:
__ Slaves
__ Cow Men
__ What happened to three orc strikers? Didn't see their corpses or anything when examining the western fort.
__ Who are the other Defenders

The unmovable stubborn Nov 17, 2009 09:25 PM

Yeah, a tie is a successful hit.

Explain what you mean by "other Defenders"?

Zergrinch Nov 17, 2009 09:28 PM

O you know, the other 19 monsters you've got hidden within this dungeon. I mean even the lowliest duergar scout would know who's who in the joint. He might even be able to give us the overall layout of the fort, and where his comrades are hiding :)

You're cooking up in-story reasons why whichever duergar we try to interrogate wouldn't know such things, aren't you?

The unmovable stubborn Nov 17, 2009 10:26 PM

Nonsense, I am a harsh DM but fair. The world does not magically change to fuck you over (usually).

On those lines I kind of remembered that there are rules for uh CATCHING YOURSELF when you get knocked off a precipice. Now I'm not going to apply them to this battle because it would tarnish the glory of Dillo Soccer, but in future would you guys prefer:

A: if you fall off of something you're dead (including players)

B: if you fall off of something, you get a saving throw to catch yourself

System A has been working well for us so far, but it's technically not in keeping with the rules and I don't want anyone to get butthurt in the unlikely event that some lucky monster shoves you off a cliff.

Zergrinch Nov 17, 2009 10:29 PM

Voting for B of course, assuming you mean fatal non-survivable drops to the death :tpg:

What kind of dice will that be? Athletics or acrobatics? Or just a plain 1d20 with 11+ for success?

Sarag Nov 17, 2009 10:37 PM

with B you can never have Naked Tobagganing again. :(

Zergrinch Nov 17, 2009 10:39 PM

Nah Devo, Pang already uses that sound effect when he kills players. I believe he used it just once, albeit unwillingly.

Might I humbly suggest the use of the Goofy Holler instead?
YouTube Video

And I'm sure that B only applies if you are shifted, pushed, or otherwise thrown off precipices involuntarily. Gabriel rode the toboggan on his own free will.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Nov 17, 2009 10:53 PM

I am all about A, the potential hilariousness of falling and being instant fucked is much greater, player characters be damned.

'sides, it'd be somewhat hypocritical if I started advocating something that hampers my considerable love of cliff deaths.

seriously

Skexis Nov 19, 2009 12:40 AM

So, Pang, did my damage not take effect because Helga's immune to Radiant damage? Or did I miss her somehow because of an equipment effect?
