Where is the altar that your talking about, right now I only have access to one floor on the subterra, the one where all the bull abadons and misthares or whatever the hell those horses are come out. It's also the place where Phoneix is, as to how i managed to find him im not sure. Do I need to do something to be able to go to lower levels on the elevator or something?

Well, think of it as easy leveling. It's supposed to be slow, given how sparsely populated the rooms on are on first and second basement levels (Penumbra and Umbra). Did you kill the Phoenix? You should if you haven't.

I'm amazed you're asking about the altars but know about the black orbs. There's an altar in every corner "room" that you can see when you throw up the map. Each of them holds a specific number of orbs. There's guides that tell you how much each individual altar on each floor takes, and if you didn't know, you'd have to put them in one-by-one. Otherwise, you waste orbs and lose them if you go over.

Wow I'm a complete moron, well yea I realized that this does make for easy leveling. I think what happened was I saw how many orbs I needed and just thought it would take forever. Maybe next time I should actually go through it first before drawing such conclusions. As is turns out this little quest for orbs is pretty simple. I knew about the altars just not about the massive black orbs. But I have also found those too (I killed the Phoenix awhile ago, and yes I found a couple pretty large ones too but none as big as, well Penelo's "upper body" haha). I almost tried to fight the magick pot but decided against it, HA. All in all I was just being lazy before but I'm almost to the third level now and glad I figured it before just asking and asking away. I fell a little more motivation now so I won't bother you with any more nonsensical bullshit like this haha.

Son of a bitch!!! I just went through all that shit and my guys attacked a magick pot who killed every single person in like one hit and now i have to go back through all of this shit again!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Nah, don't worry about it. Ask away to your heart's content, since this is a discussion thread about FFXII. Anyways, you'll be down at the Unknown level in no time fighting the Shadowseer. If you have any 1H sword users around, make sure you keep the Lifewicks that the Necrofiends drop. With a Lesacsh Halcyon (Paramina Rift entite) and 2 Emperor Scales, you can make the best 1H sword. Same thing goes for the Damascus Steel dropped by Bunes.

Oh, and the gigantic orb I described? It's just me fooling around down there, trying to get the orb bigger. Who knows when the hell this thing is going to stop growing.

Edit: Goddamn Cubus! This thing is supposed to appear near that little waterfall in the Sochen map 'Tempation Eluded' after killing everything else in that map and waiting by it for a few minutes. I'm getting nothing. =/

SOLDIER_2825 Jan 2, 2007 02:32 AM

hmmm I need to use a 1H sword since all of my characters have Great swords (2 Ultima blades, Excalibur), but i dont know where to find emperor sclaes.

Zertinan Caverns, Balamka Fault map, there are two Archeoaevis enemies. Those are the only two in the game, IIRC. They drop the scales, but rarely. It's really easy to chain them though, as all you have to do is have one attack gambit set to strike enemies with 10,000 HP or more. They have 12k, and if you come in and the monsters they're fighting against have loweered their HP, just input it manually.

After you kill them, exit the map to Athroza Quicksands, run over to Drybeam Cavern and back into Balamka to fight the respawned Archeoaevis pair.

Just a couple questions-
1) How long did it take you to beat Yiazmat and what level were your characters at?
2) The Dragon of Doom? Is that the Hell Wyrm or a different monster?

Thanks.

1) it took me 3 hours and something ( 3 and a half I would say ) everyone in level 99 in one go . this monster is really easy only If you have equiped all your characters with absorb ( cant spell sorry ) antidark ( yamazit if a fan of dark magic specially when you are behind him he will keep doing this big purple bubble ).

is hell wyrn the same dragoon that we're talking about? I mean the one im talking about is the one which you can only encounter if you open the door in clockwise or some shit like that.

excuse the english but I have spanish- Jap and english in my head and it IS indeed a pain in the ass lol

Musharraf Jan 2, 2007 06:41 AM

What does your timer say, Metal Sphere?

Haven't played for the last couple of days, but I definitely want to get to level 99 within the next few weeks so I better start playing again ;)

273 hours (273:45:32 with 1,512,532 steps). My luck is great enough to nail me Z. Escutcheons, another Ribbon, and a Venetian Shield all in the same day but monsters like Cubus and Vorres elude me.

That and getting 5 level 3 quickenings is insane. Other than that, the game is as good as done, but I'm not quitting when I'm this close to getting Order of Ambrosia.

You probably know, but the Deadbones trick to the early-mid 80s and then Pharos Subterra/Henne with Tippets will get you to 99 real fast.

Saga, you're talking about Hell Wyrm. His Darkga use is a boon if you have black masks to toss on when he readies it.

Final Fantasy 12 Problemo?

Wassup people, I recently downloaded the game off torrentspy.com as it's not out in Europe yet and i set 2 playin it straight away, big fan of the FF series you see (Number 8 is my Fav). Anyway, im a little concerned about my progress. Ive got 52 hours of ganeplay right, im on the part wherei can go onto the bahamut and complete the game, with all my characters levelling 50 average. Anyway, i was wondering that before i do so i wanna obtain so badman weaponry and armour so i can be really prepared you know? Also i wanna get around 2 doina coupla of the sidequests and that. So first question, does aaaaaaanyone know where i can get each item that i can sell to any merchant so i can get an Ultima Blade available in the Bazaar?????:edgarrock:

Heh, looks like you made a B-line for the end of the game. Well, for the Ultima Blade, you need a Gnoma Halcyon, two Death Powder and 2 Adamantite. The Halcyon can be had from the Entite of the same name (stolen/dropped), Death Powders are dropped by Bogeys in the Zertinan Caverns and Adamantite are the spoils you receive for killing Adamantitans. The bridged area in Cerobi Steppe has a ton of Adamantitans that you can kill for them.

Jimmy Choo Jan 2, 2007 08:44 AM

Thanks for the quick reply, um another queston where can i find the gnome Entites?

During a sandstorm in the Westersand. Look around a bit, they're pretty hard to miss.

Dalmasca Westersand, during sandstorms.

(It's been mentioned in this thread atleast a couple of times previously.)

Jimmy Choo Jan 2, 2007 10:01 AM

So I just went for the Diabolos in the Lhusu Mines and basically got schooled. I wasn't ready for all the status effects plus taking out my guys in 2-3 hits. I had him basically down to nothing, but had to run because he still had a paling against physical attacks and I was almost out of MP in all my living characters. It's the first time I've been that close to death in a long time.

Liking the Gilgamesh stuff, though - can't wait to get to the second part of that battle. Almost forgot to pick up the Genji Gloves. =o

Diabolos was that rough? Hrmm... When I met up with Diabolos myself, I casted Protectga, Shellga, Bravery, Bubble (my guys are all auto-hasted). Oh yeah, Vaan had Decoy on him too, while I Exposed Diabolos. It wasn't that bad, but as far as I remember, my characters were like Lvl 53+. Reddas helped as well.

I got a problem though. When I faced Gilgamesh the first time on the bridge, I didn't STEAL! I was too concentrated on keeping everyone alive - so does that mean I'm SOL for Genji equipment, or is there a chance of stealing it multiple times from him during the 2nd fight?

Jimmy Choo Jan 2, 2007 12:29 PM

**UPDATE**
After trying endlessly to find the Adamantite after killing like 12 of the adamanenties on the Cerobbie steppe, none of them have dropped one =| So ive gone to a bazaar and brought the Knights Monograph, the Sage's Monograph and the scholors Monograph, i hope they help me get the loot i need =|

Matt Jan 2, 2007 01:11 PM

Did anyone else think fighting Adrammelech was an incredibly hard battle?
From the guide I have, he's only level 39, and I figured that since I was at level 47 I could take him well enough. Unfortunately that wasn't the case when he did the Arc Blast and that Immunity Shield that made him immune to all of my attacks. If he stopped attacking me at that time it would've been fine, but he had to keep coming. And Stop...I hate that status ailment. It's more annoying than sleep for crying out loud, but that bastard Adrammelech had to hit everyone with it, didn't he? Well that's cheap. Real damn cheap. So to hell with him and that fight.

I only hope the esper in Barheim Passage is an easier battle. He isn't a flying enemy, so I should be able to take him down quicker.

Another thing I've noticed is that the BradyGames guide is terrible. It doesn't have any maps for the optional areas like Zertinan Caverns and the extra Barheim Passage sections. Nor does it have an index for easily looking up things like Quickening chains or certain side-quests.
The only real good it does is help you finish the main game and show you what's on the license grid via a handy pull-out poster.

PiccoloNamek Jan 2, 2007 01:13 PM

I utterly owned Adrammelech with Blizzaga. The attack also took out all of the zombies in the area as well.

Spatula Jan 2, 2007 02:13 PM

You already had Ga spells by then? I went up to Adrammelech with only Blizzara, and managed to do only like 1000 some damage. The hardest Esper I found was Mateus, actually. I concentrated more on "HIM" than his 6 little friends, which wasn't a smart move. So far that's one of the hardest fights so far, I'm not too sure why. Maybe I forgot to put back my heavy armor and put gambits on after fighting the previous MAGNETIC guy.

Easiest was Death Seraph. What a cake walk.

The guide was such a rush job it isn't even funny. There are parts on numerous maps, especially Tcatchi highlands where it doesn't show the connector bridges - paths from one area to the next on the printed map, so I ended up having to resort to the game map. Utterly useless I tell you. That's like a minor issue. The major ones I would consider would be where they tell you to reference to a page number, but instead it's filled with page ??? instead of page 100 for example (see Patient in Desert sidequest for example). At least the Artbook is nice. Also, the book isn't very good if you need to open up the guide flat - the spine already has a huge crease from me having to use a paperclip to hide the final battles with spoilers - and some of the pages have already come completely loose. So I patch it up with scotch tape. Whatever. At least it makes the Hunts easy to work around.

As far as the two pieces that you can steal from him during the first battle go, yes. You can still get the two other ones though. Unfortunately, the Gloves (the only really useful piece if you're at a stage when you can beat him the second time) is one of the two that are available during the first battle.

I remember it being very hard to get them to drop any as well, when I was hunting for the Ultima Blade. Just keep at it though and you'll get some eventually ;)

Just off my topic, have got 2 say that getting extra espers really has no bloody point beside it :) They are useless in battle :) i would only get them to get heighten my max MP :) Brilliant were the times in FFX where once could get each Aeon upto its limit break and enter say a boss battle with each Aeon at its peak in order 4 a good thrashing down :) **STILL** havent got any Adamantite. =(

as far as I know you do not need to complete your bestiary at %100 in order to get a rank of Order of Ambrosia . I got it in the jap version and as far as I remember I was still missing monster in my bestiary when I got tthis Rank.... unless is diferent that the US version which I doubt.

Hachifusa Jan 2, 2007 05:16 PM

Would you consider a 2H sword better than a 1H sword?

How, without the use of a guide, would I know how to create some of the best weapons in the game?
