Has anyone said how will te built in speaker work? Will it have a built in ROM with a set of predefined sound effects that the game will call or will the game stream an entire sound file into the pad?
I bet on the first because... you guessed! Battery life :P |
I'm pretty sure they said something about the game streaming audio directly to it.

HOLY CRAP.
http://i.i.com.com/cnet.g2/images/20..._screen001.jpg Looks like a SNES/PS2 hybrid :( I HATE the position of the D-pad in relation to the analog sticks in that controller... |
Is the controller going to be wireless??? It looks like it has a cord :(
|
The dpad looks off center a little, that might be a bit awkward =/
It's understandable since they want the twin sticks in there too, but the whole thing looks cramped. They could have simple made a SNES pad replica and I'd be perfectly happy. The dpad itself and the face button placement are still so dreamy. I can't wait to try that. |

O M G ! WTF is that shit? Is that what I think it is? F**king hell, take it away! TAKE IT AWAY! OMFG it looks like Dual Shock gone bad! Way bad, DShock is already bad enough even using winged design but that.... OMG! Quote:

Are we going to get any new info on the Wiimulator? That's the one feature I've been hoping to get details on. If they implement the features I listed in my journal, THEN I'll have reason to get all Nintendo-hyped.

BTW I hope they come to sense and do a black/gray version of the console since my experience tells me that pristine white devices that are so 'manipulated' like a gamepad gain countless stain in a blink. |
I'm not entirely crazy about the placement of the ZL and ZR buttons. The glory of L1/L2 R1/R2 is that you can use them with seperate fingers. I guess they're avoiding that design for something simpler.
I dunno, I really like that controller. It looks like it's going to be as comfortable as the SNES controller was, and that one was fucking prime. |
Please don't call it the Wiimulator, SOLDIER. It's got a name and it's Virtual Console. And no I don't think they're going to let you make your own levels and stuff like you've been hoping. I think they may retool some of the old games for online play or somehow add an additional play control using the Wii controller.

I can't believe how little was shown of Sonic wii.
I barely have enough info on it to past judgement on how the game will turn out. :( Oh well, I guess I'll do it anyways.... Hey, that Sonic Wii game doesn't look that impressive. Get in the game Sega! |

I'm sure Acer came up with the colors all by himself, and it's not like Nintendo ever provides their consoles in different colors. |
Is that what the next mario gen game will be called! Super Mario Galaxy ?
|
This seems like the best place to put this. Ooh, Wii is such an odd name.

I thought this would be another beat-the-bongos-to-a-song game (it isn't but this new game still uses the bongos, for a completely different manner). Quote:

Wow.
Nintendo (and Microsoft) win E3. That is all. |

There shouldn't be any complaints over the standard controller. It's based off the SNES controller which is still in my opinion the best stand controller and is what every controller after it was based on.
My only complaint is that they keep treating the N64's c buttons like they were just a camera stick. There were games that did infact use the c buttons as buttons and those games will suffere as a result from going from a digital button to an analog stick. There's that grey area, diagonal directions, that will screw up what made sense with a digital button. Take Starfox 64. C button left and C button down did speed up and slow down and with down on the analog stick it would do a loop or u-turn. Those would be screwed up with an analog stick for c buttons. Now they could recode it so you use x and y for those functions but they absolutely need a solid N64 layout. Perhaps those tiny fingertip z buttons by the shoulder buttons could solve some of that but I still think it's an oddball solution. It would have been better if they just did a genesis six button setup. That would have covered the N64 c button issue. Oh and there is still the B and A button issue where the location of Y is where B was for the N64 and where the location of B is where A was for the N64. But I'm glad they took the SNES layout. Best case scenario, they just let us map out the buttons the way we want and have controller profiles. |
I'm not quite sure why no one has mentioned it.. but...
Natsume (developed by Marvelous) -Harvest Moon GOD DAMN IT!! I NEED HM NOW!! It's just one of those games who bring memories so sweet it makes everything around me look bigger. |
Pom - NICE find! How did you dig this up?
