Can a pirated copy be played online, or what.

Pietak Mar 23, 2006 09:10 PM

LoL what.

Shame on Konami for releasing 2 copies on Earth.

Pietak Mar 23, 2006 09:13 PM

Shame on releasing extra content in the first place for fans? Shame on Hideo for caring about his fan-base?

No. Shame on you.

Spatula Mar 23, 2006 09:47 PM

Wow, I just opened the instruction manual for the first after beating the game. Oh wait, it's not like I've never played a MGS game before, o rly.

I'd actually like to know this too as i can't import yet and the PAL relase isn't for another few months and i want MGO goodness now as i got my PS2 online for MGO yesterday. I wonder if the PAL release will get even more extra stuff in Subsistence, we did with Substance

Spatula Mar 24, 2006 09:19 PM

Hey, I finally put in some time for the 2nd disc today. Meh it's alrighty. The secret theatre is pretty amusing though. Probably I haven't checked out the thing that makes it shine --> online mode. What a shame. Network adapter anyone?

Woah you must really be devoted.
I do hate the fact that they are always releasing 2 versions of a single game. Just a way to get more money out of it. They know that they can get away with it. I'd prefer they delay a game so that they can add all the features instead of releasing 2 versions of the same damn game. For example, I bought devil mayl cry 3 for $20 and two days later I heard about the limited addition that was going to come out for the same damn price.
And I was looking into how to play pirated games online. You have to do some dnas patching and it all sounded a bit confusing. You can look it up on afterdawn.com.
Since the game is 30 dollars I may get it but I prefer just getting the online disc by itself.

I'm told that a lot from friends. The whole reason of me buying a PSP was for Metal Gear Acid actually...

The other features are just quirks and bonuses for me. :kitsune:

Got my LE a few days ago finally. Just wanted to mention though, I was talking to these guys I know that work at my local EB, and they said they got in 2 copies of the LE and bought them themselves. So it seems Canada did get some LEs after all, heh.

Shenlon Mar 24, 2006 10:52 PM

The Limited edition has the metal gear movies right? but doesn't the online disc have the demo theater, doesn't that defeat the whole purpose? Or is it like substance where you can only view a few scenes?

Pietak Mar 25, 2006 10:12 AM

The LE has Existence, which is a 3hour motion picture of Snake Eater, designed to be a film-like experience for Metal Gear.

Shenlon Mar 25, 2006 10:18 AM

ok, so existence is a edited version of all the scenes in mgs. But the Demo theater has all the cutscenes. Oh and from what heard existence isn't a normal dvd u can play on any player other than the ps2........i love the game but that seems kinda useless if you ask me ^^

Pietak Mar 26, 2006 12:24 AM

Hmm, I know I've seen that trailer somewhere before, just can't remember where...

Pietak Mar 26, 2006 11:57 AM

It looks like a pre-production movie, similar to those found on "The Document of Metal Gear Solid 2" disk. But how did this guy get a hold of this one...

Spatula Mar 26, 2006 12:37 PM

SHIT! why wasn't it included? It's so awesome, however seeing that this was probably during the Virtuous mission, how the hell did he get the X1M6thingamajig rifle?

Because like Pietak said, it was probably a pre-production movie.

Zip Mar 26, 2006 03:29 PM

i tried this out yesterday and played it today.
It's well made and all but uh... nothing special, everyone was orgasming about it so i must have thought it was something extra cool. It's more like ps2 gamers got a good online shoot em up.

Are you just talking about the online portion?

I love the game not because of the online portion (I don't really play it much), but because of the new camera. The original game was unplayable, in my opinion, due to that fixed camera position. Now that we can rotate it in any direction, I was able to play through completely.

I loved the camera because before playing Subsistence, I was playing a lot of RE 4 and got used to rotating the camera. That new camera was a nice add-on in my opinon.

Megalith Mar 26, 2006 05:06 PM

Why aren't you nubs talking about Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.

Spatula Mar 26, 2006 05:33 PM

Because we're graphics whores. YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE SNAKE DO CQC HERE!

Okay fine, I did give MG and MG2 a run, and even though I TRIED to play it, I guess I wasn't really up for since finishing the main game a few days ago.

Soldier Mar 26, 2006 05:35 PM

I'll say something: I was pretty confused when Big Boss told me to contact Schneider if I wanted info on where to find the weapons. I couldn't find his frequency anywhere in the game or in the english manual. It turns out you had to look up the original japanese manual to get the list of frequencies. Nice one, Konami. :(

It's 120.75 by the way.
