SHINING FUCKING FORCE.

nuttyturnip Jul 23, 2007 01:32 PM

Kirby's Dream Course is sweet. I might have to pony up some money for some Wiipoints.

I've already got Shining Force for GBA.

Noes! I've never played a Kirby game in my life...unless Smash Bros. counts.

wvlfpvp Jul 23, 2007 02:24 PM

Then remedy it and get some. Kirby's Adventure HOLLA.

That's not how I remember it.

Chaotic Jul 23, 2007 03:53 PM

Whoo! Kirby's Dream Course! I loved this game back in the day.

Now all we need is Kirby's Super Star and my Kirby life is set.

Go download Kirby's Adventure right now or fail forever. >=|

wvlfpvp Jul 23, 2007 05:07 PM

And then when Kirby Super Star gets released, download that. Sup RPG battle in the Great Cave Offensive.

Sword Familiar Jul 23, 2007 05:55 PM

Shining Force is a great release, I guess, if you don't own the original, like I do. Sigh. Well, there's always the N64 games. Never did get around to buying that system. Too bad Sin & Punishment won't show up on the US VC.

speculative Jul 23, 2007 08:16 PM

Nice! Pretty good VC week imho. I read the IGN review of Kirby on VC and they basically said it's the best game ever made. Pretty high praise for an old NES title...

Chaotic Jul 23, 2007 10:26 PM

Oh, never mind.

I dunno if I'm downloading anything this week... Good things about Shining Force, but I'm still working on Paper Mario.

shadowlink56 Jul 23, 2007 10:57 PM

RPGs will be the big winner of the VC. There the only ones people seem to think are worth the money. Considering how much some of the actual carts cost these days, most are a bargain IMO, but it's the vaporware stigma and the ROM world holding people back about price.

Cheezeman3000 Jul 24, 2007 02:39 AM

You know, it's interesting... people DO get more excited about RPG's on the VC than anything else. Shadow says it's because of the price of the original carts these days, but I think it's gotta be something else because I don't try to buy the originals and I'm still excited about them.
Odd. It's not like I don't enjoy Super Mario Bros... but I'd just rather play Super Mario RPG. Nostalgia?

Buizel Jul 24, 2007 01:52 PM

I also do get excited about RPG but I already own the actual Paper Mario cart. The only question is, is it worth 1000point/$10 so I don't have to drag the N64 out from my closet? Same goes when they are going to release Super Mario RPG... and maybe non-RPG games like Yoshi's Island... *sighs*

EDIT: Actually, when I think about it, my SNES doesn't really work well and if the battery dies in SMRPG and YI, then I would definitely buy them. >_>

Sword Familiar Jul 24, 2007 06:06 PM

I'll probably never buy any SNES games on VC. The SNES (and SFC for that matter) is my favorite console, ever. I own most of the good games, and the one's I don't own I intend to buy in the near, or far, future. It just wouldn't be the same to play them on VC. The feel of the carts, the smell of the box and manual... It just won't feel the same w/o them.

shadowlink56 Jul 25, 2007 12:58 AM

The real prize of buying these is that they have been retooled to support 480p. I don't know if anyone here has tried, but the NES looks pretty crummy on an HDTV. You get "bit fuzz".

True, but Nintendo didn't bother to resize the images, so if you're playing VC on HDTV, the game will be stretched to fit on the screen.

In my case, it just felt like RPGs had more replay value. They were the only games back then that really had any storyline. Sure, Mario games had story, but it wasn't very descriptive. Just beat up bad guys and save the princess. Nowadays even action games have a pretty well laid out storyline compared to back then.

SuperSonic Jul 30, 2007 03:19 PM

Sorry this is late! I forgot today was Monday!

This week on Virtual Console US (7/30/07):

Drop Off (TG16)
Dynamite Headdy (Genesis)
Star Soldier (NES)

Um...meh.

Chaotic Jul 30, 2007 03:34 PM

Dynamite Headdy?

What a name.

THE POWER OF WATER Jul 30, 2007 03:38 PM

Anyone who mehs Dynamite Headdy can get out of town. Excellent game. Treasure FTW.

Chaotic Jul 30, 2007 03:44 PM

Would've been a great gangsta name also...

Nothing really interesting for me to get this week. Still on the fence about Shining Force.

FatsDomino Jul 30, 2007 03:48 PM
