So how far am I away from getting to the more exciting parts? I presume I'm close, as today it supposed to be the last day, or second last day. I'm sick of Twilight Town, heh. Who the hell came up with those odd jobs? Talk about dull.

Cetra Mar 31, 2006 03:15 PM

I feel kind of dumb for asking this question, but what the heck does marking your equipped items as "AT" do? I didn't find anything about it in the manual and I guess I might have skipped over the in-game explanation since I was playing it pretty late last night.

Motsy Mar 31, 2006 03:23 PM

"AT" items are reloaded into your "quick menu" when battles are over.

Soldier Mar 31, 2006 03:43 PM

Does that apply to all items? It seems a bit of a cheat to mark, say, a Megalixer as "AT", and have it reload whenever you want. Or am I thinking about "restocking" instead of "reloading"? I'm not too clear how it works.

I'm also wondering why I can't use my Drive form in the Mulan world, even though the meter is at full and I have Goofy in my party.

Speaking of the Mulan world, I felt slightly underwhelmed when I entered. The cutscenes are well done as usual, especially the hilarious fight in the camp, but the world itself feels a bit bland, kind of like the worlds from KH1. The music also loops too much to the point that it gets annoying for a while (also a problem KH1 had). But perhaps this is my bias against the movie itself. I was never a fan of Mulan, as it greatly held back what could have been a potentially great setting by keeping it all G rated friendly (a massive, beautifully rendered army is cut short by a stupid avalanche). It also had what I believed to be the absolute worst romance ever in a Disney picture. For 99% of the movie, the Captain is an absolute asshole to Mulan, and only in the last 5 minutes of the movie does he soften up, and suddenly everyone wants them to get married. Bleh.

Cid's VA....is quite a shock. I'd rather discuss that in the AC thread though. And Suvari fails to impress so far. She's just making Aerith far more wistful and souless than she's supposed to be.

They're not "dull". They're there for when you need extra cash.

Yeah, I meant it restocks items.

And I disagree about the Land of Dragons especially compared to Wonderland, the first Disney world in KH. Wonderland was bland, soulless, and an absolute chore to play. I had a lot of fun in LoD -- the morale battles were pretty cool, the boss battles were fun, and the animation looked stellar (which itself is a big improvement over KH1).

I'd rather just fight enemies for extra cash. It's more exciting than a bunch of stupid 'games' that weren't exciting in any shape or form.

And here I agree that I also have enjoyed LoD... the solo battle against all those heartless in a certain time frame was rather cool. Was kind of impressed by seeing all those enemies on one screen and my PS2 not blowing up on me ^_^

My biggest gripe right now is going to be the continual cut-scenes... I thought once one got past the intro that they would die down quite a bit but they seem to be just as prevelant. *cry* I just want to play... not watch scenes all day...

Soldier Mar 31, 2006 04:58 PM

Having finished Land of Dragons, I take back a little what I said. Things improved quite a bit once you had to climb the summit, as the battles that followed were excellent (though brief). The first Limit was real nice as well, and offers a taste on what's to come.

I can't hold the suspense though; when do I get to see Cloud again? I just want to know if his appearance is mandatory, or if it's an optional thing that I have to seek out on my own. I went back to Hollow Bastion, but nothing new occured there.

If it is mandatory, is the rest of his story optional from then on, meaning I need to seek them out for myself?

Also, the difficulty has increased a bit in Land of Dragons. Those who were complaining previously should have no problems when those Centaur-type Heartless smack you silly. The boss battle was quite frantic as well.

Finally, that member card that Squall gave Sora was probably the most blatant form of Disney advertising ever. For those not in the know, the card resembled a pass to Disney World, down to the last printing.

Inhert Mar 31, 2006 05:35 PM

well I have 10h of gameplay and I'm about to enter the Pirates of the Caribbean, I have I doN,t know 4-5 world done (maybe 6 doN,t remember) and even if I did enjoy land of the dragon, it's by far now the worst one >.> but all the other one was really good and really more exciting!

now I have a lot more ability (so much that I don't have enough AP for all the one I want to equip ; ;) and those limit are really fun to do! (love Trinity limit ; ;)

and I really like how they made the "temporary" character really more usefull! and now even if you do take one of them, goofy or donald (the one that is not in the aprty) still get some exp ^^

oh and I love the new tournament! with all the limit you can do it's really fun! (but a little more easy, but i'm just in the first match so sure it's easy)

well there's so much I like in this game that I don't remember them all XD

oh and I made the mistake to use drive only for boss fight >.> don't do that, use them as often as you can, the drive gauge refill fast enough, you will lv up your form faster and the battle will be even more fun as they are ^^

Optional.

Spoiler:
Aside from the first time you see him, you'll never see him again except for after beating the optional boss and in the final coliseum cup. The optional boss is in Radiant Garden (play through the game and you will know where this place is), and he will require you to go find and bring back Cloud after you beat him (you get a keyblade for this). This battle is one time only, so if you want to play it again sometime make a save before it. In the Other Hades Cup, he appears three times, once with Tifa, once with Leon, and once with Leon, Tifa, AND Yuffie.

3. The pirates with the shotguns or rifles (not quite sure what gun type they are), in the NA version, the gun has some kind of crossbow thing attached to the end of the barrel.
4. When the scene where jack is revealed to have the curse as well; when Barbossa stabs him, the sword is stuck in Jack as he sees himself as a zombie. In the NA version, the sword isn't stuck into Jack at all.

Spoiler:
I have to commend them for keeping the Barbossa rib wine scene, blood on the coins, and Jack killing Barbossa with an actual pistol, though. Which only makes the other exclusions bizarre.

Soldier

Spoiler:
Well if you havent visited Hollow bastion the second time, Cloud and FF gang will help ya fight all those Heartless and the Heartless war will commence, And another part where you can see him is the after Sephiroth Fight, awesome fight, bad conclusion

Freelance Mar 31, 2006 06:22 PM

I just noticed something. Is Setzer related at all to the FF character? I am asking because the KH Setzer looks nothing like FF Setzer, and he sure doesn't act the same as well, not like Seifer and the gang.

Is the name just a concidence?

LS Mar 31, 2006 06:28 PM

He is the "Setzer" but sadly his role is so small, I want to see more of him though, too bad.

He also uses similar phrases just like the FFVI Setzer. His role is indeed minor though.

Oops? Forgive me, it's been quite a long time since I've last played FFVI. I didn't realize he had some similiarities. Wouldn't I give to see Locke though. He's my second favourite FF character.

His character design is pretty horrid, but at least it looks slightly better in-game. No justice done to the original character at all, it might as well have been Dressed Up Townsman #38 aside from one line he said when the battle started.

I'm only in Hollow Bastion, but I hate the new VAs for Squall and Aeris. I thought David Boreanaz was perfect as Leon, but the new guy just sounds kinda whimpy and doesn't synch with the mouth movements at ALL. Mandy Moore was passable in KH1, but her replacement is just terrible. I think it's mostly how her voice seems pretty flat in its range of emotion. She sounds like she's just reading lines off of a page rather than talking.

Other than those two things (and those dreadfully boring mini-games for money), I love the game so far. I've barely been able to put it down, which wasn't exactly a good thing for my Statistics test today.

Shenlon Mar 31, 2006 07:58 PM

A tip for those who havn't gone that far yet, Do the Beast World on the left before taking the world on the right becuase you can get cure magic and land of dragons if more advanced. Now I dont have to rely on donald all the time for healing ^_^ oh and is it just me or is donald alot more usefull this time around.
I'm loving the team up attacks as well.
I finished going to hallow bastion fort he second time and blah:
Spoiler:
why do I have to gather the pages again, I need new quest not an old re-done one from part 1 >_<
Also when we had to light up the lanterns in the beast's castle was there more to it or was that it. I lit up the candles and I was thinking it was going to be challenging but there was more than enough time. So i was thinking maybe theres more to it, some secret or something. If not, what useless task.

The Plane Is A Tiger Mar 31, 2006 08:03 PM

You mention the cure magic right after I go to Land of the Dragons instead. :(

Shenlon Mar 31, 2006 08:19 PM

well you could always go back ^_^

rpgcrazied Mar 31, 2006 08:35 PM

LS Mar 31, 2006 08:45 PM

I have it on proud mode so if your in mulans world without cure magic make sure you keep donald on through most of your time there.
