congrats to Edmonton... you played well and fought well...

Sixteen years. We haven't been here in sixteen years. I was four. The first eighth seeded team to not only make it to the conference final, but win it. Ever.

I simply cannot express how joyous the city is right now. Whyte Ave (the designated party street) was an absolute madhouse. The roads are closed off, and it's an 8 block, block party. Singing, dancing, high fives, girls flashing, general antics, chants of "we want the cup!", and just general good times had by all.

Atleast the Oil will finally have a rest. They've played 17 games in like what, a month or so?

The cup is coming home.

BucPride May 28, 2006 03:53 AM

Good luck to the Oilers, I'll be rooting for them.

Dopefish May 28, 2006 03:54 AM

Of course you know, if Edmonton doesn't win the Cup, it will BURN.

Fire On Ice May 28, 2006 05:29 PM

Edmonton or bust. I'm just amazed that a team who barely made it into the playoffs has made it so far. They're incredible and totaly deserve to be where they are. Oilers ftw.

BucPride May 31, 2006 12:47 PM

Game 7 Thursday. Who wins the series?

Dopefish May 31, 2006 12:54 PM

Still going with the Canes.

acid May 31, 2006 08:44 PM

Buffalo wins tommorow, Edmonton beats Buffalo in six games.

1: Buf
2: Edm
3: Edm
4: Edm
5: Buf
6: Edm

Wojo May 31, 2006 08:47 PM

I am going with the Canes too. The sabres just seem to be making to many mistakes.

Crash "Long-Winded Wrong Answer" Landon May 31, 2006 08:50 PM

The biggest mistake Carolina will make will be showing up.

Mucknuggle May 31, 2006 08:53 PM

I hope Buffalo wins their series - only because I know the goalie coach. Edmonton is taking it in the finals though. Nothing will stop them.

Except for Hurricane Ward.

Funny, considering the only way Buffalo will win is if Carolina in fact doesn't show up.

Game 7, would you say that the Canes are the underdogs? It's definitely been a great series.

Considering how much time Edmonton is getting to rest, (which I beleve is what ruined the Ducks' run) I wonder how they'll fare...

Wojo Jun 1, 2006 09:24 PM

Its confirmed. Hurricanes vs Oilers for the Stanley Cup.

I think this will be a pretty exciting championship series. I am really looking forward to it.

Dopefish Jun 1, 2006 09:27 PM

Oilers in 5 or Canes in 7.

BucPride Jun 1, 2006 09:39 PM

I say Oilers in six personally. Looks to be a long, good series.

Sonne Jun 2, 2006 12:37 PM

I love how A small market team will raise the cup either way.

Oilers in 7.

No. Hard Pass. Jun 2, 2006 02:17 PM

My prediction: If Edmonton gets off to a quick start and wins games one and two, it will be the Oil in 5. If they split the first games, it'll be the Oil in 6.

Fire On Ice Jun 2, 2006 04:53 PM

I'd agree with Oilers in six. It's still the finals, I expect at least 6 games of amazing hockey in the fight for the cup.

BucPride Jun 5, 2006 02:05 PM

Game one later today. Who takes the first game of the series?

I say Oilers 3 Canes 2

DragoonKain Jun 5, 2006 08:52 PM

I like the Oilers in this series too. Plus the team and the fans are more deserving. The Carolina fans don't deserve a championship IMO. They aren't crazy for their team like Edmonton, plus they are pretty fairweather.

espressivo Jun 5, 2006 09:26 PM

This is going to be a damn good series, my prediction is the Oilers in six.

Gratch Jun 5, 2006 09:56 PM

Jesus, Cam Ward is a witch. Those two saves on virtual empty netters were just sick.

acid Jun 5, 2006 10:42 PM

Roloson is out with a knee injury. MacTavish has stated that he won't play another game in the series.

We're done.

As much as it hurts me to admit it, we're finished. Conklin is terrible. Did you see the game-winner he let in? And while Markennen may be good, he is still after all a backup goalie.

Backup goalies do not win Stanley Cup series.
