It's A SURPRISE!

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Nov 2, 2009 03:50 PM

It's zerg's turn isn't it

:(

The unmovable stubborn Nov 2, 2009 05:30 PM

Ayup.

LeHah PMed me to let me know he had personal issues that precluded him spending time on the game, and Cette (who would have been next in line) is awfully flaky in terms of uh being on the board with any regularity at all.

At least we got through one whole battle without a roster change. :(

Time to put plan hit Zerg with an anvil into action, Skills.

Sarag Nov 2, 2009 07:27 PM

Oh what in the fuck

In a surviving horde of 4 G-named members

you pick CAL

God dammit there could've been a Thing there!

Additional Spam:
ZERG.

Zergrinch Nov 2, 2009 07:58 PM

Heh, I've had the name picked for ages, so... :p

Oh man, a character who specializes in ranged combat, and he's got to be surrounded by a bunch of melee fighters :(

Oh, and Glock gets to shift me up to U12 tops

No I don't. :)

Zergrinch Nov 2, 2009 08:53 PM

Huh, could've sworn you couldn't shift allies into a disadvantageous position without their permission :(

I don't suppose you'll reconsider shifting Cal to W9 or X8 instead? :)

The unmovable stubborn Nov 2, 2009 09:02 PM

Strictly speaking the rule is that you're not allowed to shift allies without their consent at all.

However, the obvious delay-of-game it would produce to ask permission every single time is prohibitive in a PbP format. So we took a vote on it at one point and basically everyone agreed to dance on each others' puppet strings.

Misogynyst Gynecologist Nov 2, 2009 09:24 PM

I had hoped Delic would "step out" of the game, so I could pick him up later - but this is fine too.

I apologize for having to leave in media res but things on my end in real life just are not working out well enough to stay on top of the game. Once things get settled, I'll let you guys know when to add me back into the waiting queue.

Zergrinch Nov 2, 2009 09:41 PM

I provided an "out" for that in Cal's history, Lehah. But, I suppose you could always knock up a different character if the ban on humans stands.

This seems to be the most comprehensive map of the area that you've supplied, Pang. From which direction did the horde traipse from? Was it from V23?

Sarag Nov 3, 2009 02:57 PM

Don't get mad Zerg, everyone gets hazed when they first join. Bob, for example, was made to pull a train.

FatsDomino Nov 3, 2009 03:44 PM

Bob's entire life was a hazing ritual. Good lord take your turn already, Acer.

Yes.

5-character minimum

Got a couple of attack-related questions:

1. Every time I want to attack with arrows, I need to load the bow (which is considered a minor action right?). If so, Cal has some encounter/daily powers that let loose two arrows at once - does he need to spend two minor actions reloading the weapon?

2. I want to check if I'm interpreting the data on the wiki correctly:
  • Hunter's Teamwork is Dexterity vs. AC, combat advantage granted if 2 allies are adjacent to target. You've put down +10 to hit, 1d10+7 damage alongside it.
  • The basic poisoned longbow attack is +11 to hit vs. AC, 1d10+7 damage, and extra +1d6 poison damage on a critical roll.
So, is it safe for me to say that using the basic attack will always be better than the at-will attack, since the bonus to hit is higher by one point - and there's a critical bonus to boot (although currently useless against poison-immune dwarves)?

Scent of a Grundle Nov 4, 2009 02:56 AM

I think I can answer #2.

From what you've stated, your normal attack would usually be better than Hunter's teamwork - however, combat advantage gives +2 to hit, so it would be more accurate if you have 2 allies next to the baddie. It's pretty much a choice between an additional 5% hit chance or an extra 1d6 damage on the off chance you roll a 20. That or the poison might work either way, i'm not sure.

I think. Pang will correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, i doubt you'd have to load twice to use those abilities, but then I didn't realize you had to load at all, I'm pretty sure Bob just shot whenever he felt like it.

No. Hard Pass. Nov 4, 2009 08:11 AM

Loading a crossbow (non-repeating) is a minor action. A bow is a free action.

Someone kill Zerg already.

FatsDomino Nov 4, 2009 09:16 AM

I would use one of my awesome dailies in his vicinity but I used all those up despite following Glock around who got his back. Apparently Gordok really likes watching robots sleep.

The unmovable stubborn Nov 4, 2009 02:00 PM

The critical bonus on a weapon applies to all of its attacks, though, not just the basic.

Anyway the solution is that the base attack was supposed to be +10 the whole time and I typoed it. So, mystery solved.

And yes, loading a longbow is a free action so don't sweat it

FatsDomino Nov 5, 2009 09:36 AM

skex go take your turn so i can be late for taking my turn again, god

dude hasn't been online since halloween - maybe somebody got him! =o

Skexis Nov 5, 2009 12:24 PM

So by my count, Rundarr's down to around 45hp. We should be able to take him out if we can just keep the die rolls up. These minions don't seem to be too bad either if 20 damage bloodies them.

Hi again everybody

FatsDomino Nov 5, 2009 12:41 PM

hi skex :)

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Nov 5, 2009 03:49 PM

28 HP now, actually. Garr and Zerg might be able to finish him off before his next turn, if they both hit.

The unmovable stubborn Nov 5, 2009 04:18 PM

That's... that's almost correct.

You guys have been paying attention

I... I don't know what to say <3

Yeah well, if only you shifted Cal in the opposite direction, he'd prioritize the giant... :(
