Anything is better than those stupid, horrendously cheaply-made sidequests in FFX. I mean, who wouldn't want to painfully kill a Chocobo after actually playing the corresponding minigame in order to acquire the Sol/Sun Sigil?
And by the way, who the heck came up with the idea to evade 200 lightning bolts? Whoever that was, he or she needs to get kicked out of SE and ultimately out of the gaming industry.

So far no minigame in FFXII annoyed me, but I constantly keep reading about the ultimate weapons and how getting them solely depends on luck... That kind of lowers the desire for me to continue playing it. But the thought doesn't ruin it for me, unlike the aforementioned X.

Spatula Dec 31, 2006 12:27 PM

I'm surprised people hate the 200 bolts that much. Well actually I hated it too, but after you accomplish it, you're like HOT DAMN, Lulu, have I got a nice toy for YOU. Sure the chocobo racing was tough, but it just takes trial and error and also a bit of luck to do it. I think I spent about 2 hours for that, I mean we're talking about ULTIMATE WEAPONS here.

Drex Dec 31, 2006 12:37 PM

100 bolts would have been more doable. 200 bolts is overkill - anyone who can do 100 can do 200, it's just making you jump through ridiculous hoops. The chocobo race was ALL luck once you got the hang of it. Having to get under 0.0 seconds net time? Overkill again.

Does anyone know what Magick Potency does? I've had that on my license bored for a while, and still don't know what it does >_> does it increase my magick or something?

Thanks! :)

Saga Dec 31, 2006 02:24 PM

well Ive had enough with the JAP version of this game I got almost everything I only missed The Strongest Halbert ( or Zodiac Spear ) and the Sagitaria weapon . ( time played 521 hours ) im well pissed off I didnt get a thing in henne mines

before I start playing the english version did anyone managed to get Strongest H?

there is list here where explains what NOT to do if you want to get the strongest halbert

Quote:

Atk +150, spear

Location 1 - Necrohol of Nabudis, middle section.
The small round area at the central passage, there are 16 treasure
chests. It's in the second last teasure.

Requirement - Do not open the treasure chest in front of the old man (Daran)
house in Rabanastre Downtown.
- Do not open the Elixir chest in Rabanastre Palace.
- Do not open the treasure chests in Nalbina Dungeons inside the
room where you get back your inventory.
- Do not open the 16 treasure chests in Phon Coast South-East
section.
===== > Do not open the treasure chest in front of the old man (Daran)
house in Rabanastre Downtown

which one? there are 2 of them out of the "house". one on the left and the other in front of the house

===== > Do not open the Elixir chest in Rabanastre Palace

where is it?

===== > Do not open the treasure chests in Nalbina Dungeons inside the
room where you get back your inventory.

ultra easy. no probs with this one

===== > Do not open the 16 treasure chests in Phon Coast South-East
section

the question : is it NONE of them?

Thanks for your time!

It increases the effectiveness of your magick: Healing spells heal more, offensive spells inflict more damage.

I'm still trying to find out the use of Vanish/Vanishga

What does it really do?

That's what everyone's been trying to figure out... basically, it makes the targeted enemy impossible to target. I've been trying to figure out a use for such a spell. Maybe to cast it on Magick Pots so your characters won't inadvertently smack it?

I'm digging for possible strategies involving it, but maybe I'm just trying to avoid what seems painfully obvious: The spell is worthless.

Oh, and Saga, don't open any of those chests at all if you want to get the Zodiac Spear the easy way.

I used Vanishga while trying to hunt for Moondust in the Feywood. What I did notice is that sometimes those Tartarus chase me less farther than if I didn't have the spell on, or it's just me. Oh well.

It's a shame that this spell has a high magic cost and doesn't seem to do anything.

Nah, you probably made it run too far from its respawn point. The Aeronites in Lhusu do the exact same thing with or without Vanishga, as do many other non-rare game monsters.

Yeah, I'm surprised something that doesn't have any apparent use even made it into the game.

Actually, I don't hate Chocobos that much. However those birds or seagulls or whatever they were...

How in lucifer's hell do I get rid of the reflect status on my party member?!

Use Dispel on them. That's how you get rid of positive status effects, like Berserk.

Aquas Dec 31, 2006 06:49 PM

No. Dispel doesn't work.

I got reflect cast on me by one of the hounds in Giruvegan. Dispel won't make it go away, it just misses. It won't go away through time, either, nor will it wear down. Someone help me, I'm cursed by reflect.

Yuyu_Zeta Dec 31, 2006 06:49 PM

Just got Yagyu Darkblade after 8th Bombshell chain

Got every weapon except Wyrmhero Blade and Danjuro (which I am not even going to ask or whine if I don't get)

By the way, is the Larva Eater really the ONLY way to get Danjuro?

You mean all those times I ran up to Mardu/Sylphia/Salamand/Lescach/Undine/Gnoma/Leamonde/Daikon Entite while they have Shell, Protect and Reflect and used Dispel I've been wrong?

And yes, they picked an elusive rare game of all things to drop the Danjuro, the only other thing in the game that's nearly impossible to get.

Aquas Dec 31, 2006 06:57 PM

No, I don't mean that. It won't take it off of MY own party member. This isn't dealing with enemies.

Oh! You should've made that clear, man. Just press L1 until you can select your own characters with Dispel/Dispelga and let her rip.

Aquas Dec 31, 2006 07:00 PM

Again. That is NOT working. I've tried that, and I licensed it for another character to use on Ashe (who is reflected.) I've tried wearing it down by casting crap on her, I've tried killing her... it will not go away. I got it from one of the hounds in Giruvegan, and I'm IN giruvegan right now. I did it make it clear, by the way.

Do you have Mirror Mail armor equipped?

Aquas Dec 31, 2006 07:03 PM

Oh man! That was it!

LOL!

Erm... thanks.

Throw that armor away. It's made out of... excuse my while I say this, useless and fail. Unless you're planning on sacrificing your precious accessory slots to the Opal Rings that allow you to cast through Reflect, or setting up some novel gambit setup where you bounce everything off yourself and only one person is the healer, ditch it.

I was horrified when I bought it and found I was restricted from using magic until I bought/made the rings.

Edit: Ugh, it's the same thing for Hermes Sandals too. I completely forgot about those things. They take up an accessory slot, and if you get hit with slow? You have to take them off to remove that crap, since Haste will constantly miss (due to your haste shoes).

Fun fact: I've heard that a character with Bubble status will be immune to Disease. I've never actually tried it out, give me a few.
Edit #2: Yeah, it works. Kept tossing Vaccines at Balthier (Bubble Belt) with the Nihopalaoa equipped and got nothing but misses.

That helps alot. Every time I run into those swarm traps at Ridorana I always die later from baddies. (Note to self: Use Float)

Speaking of Reflect, does anyone have a gambit setup for Reflect/Reflectga?

Metal Sphere Dec 31, 2006 07:44 PM

Oh, I have a Float gambit that I turn on in places that I know are riddled with traps. Sometimes they're harmless, but other times (like Confuse/Berserk traps) you'd be a fool to walk through them. Sten needle traps also do some serious damage depending on the level of the area you're in.

Reflect setups would be kind of roundabout, though interesting to see.

Yuyu_Zeta Dec 31, 2006 07:59 PM

What are your gambits anyway?
