Anyone know what happens after this beta period is over? I know its not coming out, so maybe open beta? |
either a open beta later this summer or nothing till they release the game in september I think...
(by nothing I mean nothing that us can do XD) |
Ha. Yeah, I just got accepted into the Warhawk beta last night as well. I deleted the proxy version and downloaded the official version, just in case :/...
Also, the beta has been extended from June 26th to July 3rd, so theres an additional week for everybody to mess around with the game. |
Nothing big or new but here's a list of at least the big PS3 summer titles.

Well I don't really think that any of those games are "must own" games (in my opinion, the "must own" era starts in October with GTA IV), but hey, it's nice the games are comin' after all :)
|
If Starbreeze's last game was any indication, The Darkness should be an amazing game.
|
To me at least, the must own games of the PS3 this summer are;
Heavenly Sword LAIR Ninja Gaiden Sigma (for thoes who haven't played it or are huge fans of the series) Possibly TUROK, but no one has had a hands-on with it yet. |

lol yes nothing really special about that demo though... stardust HD is the real thing about this update. Apparently it's the best psn store game you can get for now and it really doesn't cost much! (7.99$ I think)

Yeah, I just got done with Dynasty Warriors: Gundam. Here's a once-over:
The title pretty much spells out the game play. It's Dynasty Warriors hack 'n slash with Gundams instead of Chinese warriors. Positives: The tried and true DW game play works fairly well with Gundams in it. In the demo, you're given control of the highly recognizable Wing Zero, piloted by an improperly voiced Heero Yuy. I'll come back to that in a minute. Wing Zero's attacks are pretty much kept intact -- his beam rifle(s) is present as is his dual Vulcan Cannons and the token beam saber. Yes, you can transform and briefly fly in WZ's jet mode, but it's mostly for aesthetics as far as the demo goes. Still fun though. Camera control is handled well, as the player is given full control. The minimap can be zoomed in and out with R2 from full-field view to area view, which can be helpful in combat. No need to see the rest of the playing field then right? Negatives: Hoo boy. Let's start with visuals. That tried and true DW formula I mentioned earlier? It also applies visually -- the environment is fucking bland. C'mon guys, you're working the PlayStation 3. At least put a little more effort into it! It's a scorched planet, granted, but maybe some pillars of fire or explosions in the background, anything! The game play is still, at best, slightly below average. You hack, you slash, you fire, oh and when the Musou gau....I mean you're Gundam's energy fills up, you can unleash a Gundam-specific attack, which in the demo meant you fired a controllable blast from your beam rifle.* The AI leaves something to be desired, as I caught Master Asia (he's on your side in the demo, and Domon from the same series tried to kill you -- strange huh?) trying repeatedly to run through a locked door. He just kept running into it, along with a platoon of easily deceived NPC Gundams. *In the intro sequence, they showed Wing Zero doing his famous "spin around with my dual beam rifles and fire a beam that destroys stuff" trick from the anime. God, that's the most overused animation in anything ever. Speaking of combat, there are "field commanders" (same thing as Gate Captains from DW) you have to destroy per field to essentially move your troops forward. Occasionally you can pick up an item and it'll say "Acquired Parts!" but I've no idea what that does. Probably something post-battle. In the demo you encounter some familiar faces and some not-so-familiar. So far I've played as Heero Yuy and seen Zechs Marquis (in the Wing Zero and Gundam Epyon, respectively), both from Gundam Wing, joined in battle with Master Asia and fought against Domon Kasshu (in Master Gundam and Burning Gundam, respectively), both from G Gundam, and seen some familiar gundams such as the GunTank, GunCannon, and your typical Zakus and those other expendable Gundams that're colored orange. While we're in discussion about characters, let's go back to that voices thing I mentioned earlier. Master Asia's and Zechs's voices are played by their original English cast, which is a nice touch. Heero's voice is not the same actor, but the guy gets decently close enough -- he's got the whole monotone thing pretty down pat and his voice carries the same "emocity" that Heero's original had, so that's an A for effort. Domon's voice, however, was fucking retarded. The actor did a god-awful job of mimicking the original English voice, and ended up making Domon actually sound evil. That's a shame. I haven't beaten the demo yet though. Played it a couple times but goddamn either I suck at this game, or it's fairly difficult. No, it's retardly difficult, and this is by far my biggest gripe. There's a point where you can fight a commander or what have you, and it's slashing combo knocks you down and the AI will follow you (as well it should) to continue its attack. Unfortunately, if you don't rebound after getting knocked down, it takes forever to get off the ground and guard thus leaving you wide open for slaughter once again. I probably just need more playtime with it to get past that, but still. Bad first impression. Would I buy it? Maybe, actually, if only for novelty's sake. In my opinion, this is probably the mos accurate representation of what a Gundam game should be, since it's far more large scale than any of the other Gundam games. Players be warned though: you must be either a huge Gundam fan or a huge Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors fiend to wanna play this game. The rest of you go find something else to do. |

Anyway, can't wait till the sequel comes, there were so many more mobile suits that they could have included. Oh yea, also, am I the only one that thinks that that's the dumbest titled they could have come up with? They should have just named it Gundam Warriors. BTW, does anyone know what the latest firmware update was actually for? Haven't noticed the effects of it, if any, yet. |
the demo was somewhat fun but it's not something I will buy. I found it way to repetitive, they could at least put more then one combo... and the graphic are almost worst than a ps2 gamesé The only thing I could see that come from the ps3 is the number of enemies on screen and that's it...
as for the update: Quote:

Yeah, I was getting a little agitated when there was nothing but super crappy movie trailers coming out every Thursday on the PSN Store for the past month, but was a little relieved to FINALLY see another demo. Too bad it sucked.

Downloading Dynasty Warrior: Gundam and just bought Super Stardust HD. I'm not expecting much from the Dynasty Warrior: Gundam but SSHD looks like it is very fun and unique.
I'm also very glad to announce that all my bitching for GAME folder organization finally seems to have paid off. Quote:

until this PS3 is more reasonable in price and games that are great aren't few and far between... I'm sticking to the less expensive consoles...

gee whiz thanks for that input i havent heard that response like 30,000 times before lolz.
J/K MAN. J/K. That folder support option kicks all sorts of ass. I've been itching for a way to accomplish this. I really want to know if you will be able to also do this with your buddy list as well (like setting up groups, or something). |

I just played Dynasty Warriors: Gundam and Super Stardust HD. Dynasty Warriors: Gundam was mildly fun because I'm going through a hard time right now and destroying as much as I can makes me feel better as a person. When I got Game Over fighting Zechs though, I didn't bother going back to try again. Other than that, like SouthJag, this might be a good novelty buy or something to do when you're bored. I might go back and play it later tonight if I get bored. Highly unlikely though, since... I bought Super Stardust HD, and Geometry Wars clones get me every time. Although it may be unfair to call this a Geometry Wars clone because it's actually fairly unique. And very fun, like Blast Factor. They got it right and added Multiplayer Co-op off the bat on this one. As for the gameplay on this one, its similar to GW and Blast Factor: Left Analog to move, Right Analog to shoot. L1 and R1 cycle through your weapons, since you have more than one, and L2 and R2 Boost and Bomb respectively. There are Gold, Rock, and Ice asteroids and appropriate weapons to destroy them with. My one strife is that it's kind of hard to differentiate the different types of asteroid since Gold and Rock kind of look the same to me. From the other side of the planet, Ice looks like Ice but by the time I get to it, I'm not too sure. So I just blast everything with the Rock Blaster. It's worked fairly well for me so far. In addition to blasting asteroids out of your planetspace, when you blast enough chunks of stuff, they throw a certain amount of alien enemies at you during the level and this is where it starts to resemble Geometry Wars. At first they only appear at the end of the level, but after 1:1 (First Planet, First Phase), they start to appear at various times during the level to annoy the shit out of you, and that's not a bad thing. They're easily disposed of but it does get tricky when you're dodging asteroids and you've got alien scum all up your ass. If you like Geometry Wars and Blast Factor, $7.99 ($8.65 after tax) is a nice amount for this game. And you don't even have to buy a Multiplayer Pack in a couple of months. Unless, of course, they decide to add online Co-Op, in which case I won't complain. |

It sais that you don't eat enough chicken and that you need to eat more to continue.
Either that or it's in Japanese, lol. Man this reminds me of the frustrating times of the FolkSoul demo. |
There hasn't been any good free stuff in the PS3 Network Shop for quite a lot of time, that really sucks :mad:

@Musharraf
I don't think they really want to fill up the PSN right now because they're working on a whole new PSN interface to be launched some time after E3. However if this trend continues after the new PSN, by all means go rip them a new one. |
