I'm more excited about gifting points, actually. My friend always complains when I don't have the money to drop for points for map packs or XBLA games and says he would gift some points if he could. (I've mentioned buying cards at Wal-Mart or something and just giving me the code, but he lives on an air base an hour from anything and it's a bit of a drive.)

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Apr 8, 2009 06:42 PM

There's lots of online stores that sell MSPoints and just email you the code though. Could he not buy some from there and email you the code?

WolfDemon Apr 8, 2009 11:29 PM

He could, but he probably just doesn't know about them. I've never heard of any myself.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Apr 8, 2009 11:33 PM

Another question is whether or not you'd be able trust these people with your credit card information.

Anyway. Bought Precipice Episode 1 as part of the sale. Glad I didn't pay the full price, as it's preeetty much a timewaster and little else. I hear Episode 2 is better, but eh. Also purchased Vs. mode for Resident Evil 5, along with all of the Oblivion add-ons that were on sale. Been meaning to do that.

Has anyone played The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai yet? I'm kind of interested in buying this game because I'm a sucker for old-school side scrollers but I don't know if it's worth the purchase. 800 points doesn't sound too bad for a game either way.

WolfDemon posted this the other day:

You get different weapons including cleavers, a sword that lets you warp around Nightcrawler-style, kamas, an "arsenal", which is just an uzi with a shotgun, and a good old-fashioned chainsaw. There's also the obligatory screen-clearing magic spells and even guitar solo mini games. You'll have to see it for yourself. Definitely not a bad purchase for 800 points.

Seemed to like it.

You could always download the trial and give it a whirl.

There's some fairly reputable retailers offering them and all the ones I've ever used took payment through PayPal so never had my credit card information.

Internet shopping is statistically safer than using your credit card in a high street store these days you know.

Be sure to play a match of the Arcade or finish the Story part of the demo, though. I didn't care for the first bit where you just have double scythes, but the game becomes crazy fun once you get the teleportation sword from the first boss.

Tails Apr 18, 2009 04:56 PM

OutRun is out and it's only 800 points.

You guys need to stop being a bunch of niggers and get on this shit so we can get some six man races going.

Chaotic Apr 18, 2009 05:08 PM

Once I get some points in my account I'll be buying this.

I want to race against some GFFers :gonk:.

Got it, had Skills razz me about going for the low-hanging fruit first (got a good chuckle out of that), still trying to clear route E in Outrun. Note to self: see if using the transmission for drifting works over in Ridge Racer 6 (the first of whose last five races is proving quite challenging).
Lode Runner lands this coming Wednesday, too.

Tails Apr 20, 2009 04:54 AM

Huh. That's a good question. RR has always just been "brake + turn" or in some occasions to just let off the gas a little.

If you're talking about the Final Route, have fun with that. It took me forever to outdo the fucking AI in that bullshit. It's the most satisfying feeling ever when you win though. If it helps any, I had to do it with the Angelus. The other cars just can't do it.

So Garou: Mark of the Wolves is coming to XBLA

A friend of mine also spotted King of Fighters Skystage, which is apparently a 2D shmup with Kyo and Athena. I have no idea what they're smoking.

I think I saw you on earlier this morning. I'll try and be on there later today or tomorrow, once I get some more points and buy that bitch which totally reminds me of Cruisin USA :3

Oh hell yes. Fucking sold.

Single Elbow Apr 21, 2009 03:17 PM

Oh wow. Oh fucking wow. Never in my wildest thoughts this will happen.

Whatever the price I shall buy.

Taco Apr 21, 2009 03:37 PM

I wouldn't mind a Capcom vs. SNK 2 port to XBLA now.

Or at least the Xbox version put up on the Xbox Classics.

That along with the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection. 3rd Strike online? Hell yes. :3:

Hold up. Before that EVER comes a reality, they NEED to desperately fix the online system, BADLY!!! I sometimes still find myself trying to play 3rd Strike online, and latency issues are still horrid, even after 4 years. (FYI, my connection only lag coughs every 30 minutes or so, and not a seriously horrible lag at that... just enough to kick me out of Xbox Live parties)

On a side note, they'd have to just find a way to get 3rd Strike, because Super Turbo and Hyper Fighting, the 2 bigger SFII titles, are already up on XBLA.

And I pray to God the achievements, should this happen, are not as stupid as some of MvC2's. I mean, shit, how many people they expect to pull off 100 or 200 combos? Not everyone can pull off them Magneto grab-cancel-tempest-quick attack-repeatandcancelintosomethingelse combos. We're not all EVO players here.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Apr 22, 2009 04:21 AM

I dunno, I'm sure I managed a good 70 odd hit combo once or twice and I'm far from being an expert at the game. Anyway, it's nice to have some achievements once in a while which are actually, you know, an achievement, needing some skill to get rather than just a lot of free time.

nuttyturnip Apr 22, 2009 03:11 PM

So Lode Runner started off at 800 points this morning, but now I hear they've jacked it back up to 1200. I'll try the demo, but in keeping with the thread title, I probably won't buy it. I played this game a ton on my Apple IIc, so we'll see.

What the fuck, are you saying they upped the price on the day of release, because that is somewhat off.

nuttyturnip Apr 22, 2009 03:39 PM

Yep. It was supposed to be priced at 1200 (which I thought was too high), they posted it this morning at 800, people bought it, then they changed the price.

Iron Man - BB Hood - Cable?

They all have attacks that will just continuously combo someone when you transition into their specials.

Plus, I bought Outrun. If anyone wants to race me, given I'm not busy doing something else, challenge me. I'm not the greatest racer, but I'm always up for a race.
